  1. I'd offer him a minor league deal with invite to ST in a heartbeat. I liked him when he was on the Sox.
  2. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) Royals just released Moises Sierra. Gillespie wants his hug-buddy to come back!
  3. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 10:27 AM) No, but he consults with the minor league coaches and his philosophy is present throughout the system. Don't listen to him when he says he isn't involved with them. What he really means is that he doesn't have "hands-on" work with them. Wouldn't Cooper have "hands on" work with him since he's on the 40-Man this upcoming ST?
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 04:54 PM) You know? with what we've added to the lineup and the rotation, there's room for this team to be competitive even if he struggles. Of course they can still be competitive, but if Avi puts it all together, think of how much better the Sox lineup becomes. You'd have to expect slight regressions from a few players and he makes the most sense to be the guy to balance that out.
  5. QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) Avisail becomes a legitimately good hitter. The top 3 in the rotation stay healthy. The bullpen is at least league average. I was just going to say Avi has to have a great year. I think you got the three most important right there.
  6. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) Maybe I'm being ignorant here but why tender Viciedo if they no intent on keeping him. Now there is talk about settling for a comp pick? Just seems dumb to me, I suppose. I would have rather had Ichiro vs another year of Viciedo. At the time, if the Sox did not tender Viciedo, Danks or Shuck would be your starting LF. That is just too risky to even think about. Plus there's no guarantee that a player like Ichiro would want to come to the Sox.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) There's also that corresponding roster move that Rock hinted at last night. But that has to be Viciedo. Any additional moves would be for depth or the bench IMO.
  8. Before anyone condemns this years team for a PED user being on it, Pablo Ozuna was suspended for PED's back in '09. He helped win a WS for us, and I don't see anyone throwing that team under the bus for having a PED user on it.
  9. Absolutely. They are a far better team than they were at the end of last season. Only area you could argue was ignored would be catcher, but there really isn't many option out there for a significant upgrade. Hahn has done an amazing job so far.
  10. So I guess the Sox forfeit another pick in the draft? That kind of sucks, but not the end of the world.
  11. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 12:15 AM) If Sox push Danks, who in the minors able to compete for 5th starter job and being competitive in MLB ? NOT counting Rodon. No one really. Johnson needs to redeem himself after last year and Beck is a huge question mark with little experience above Double-A. Sox would need to acquire a better option IMO, a reclamation project or something of that nature.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 12:01 AM) Just so everyone knows its true. Milky retweeted Eaton's tweet!!! That's great news! I can't remember the last time I was this excited in the offseason.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 11:39 PM) Where does this money come from? Levine just tweeted it's around $45M total. Looks like Hahn was BS'ing about the team being tapped out.
  14. Really starting to like Danish, haha. Gotta love a minor leaguer who supports his parent club.
  15. Wow. Well, there's your new LF and 2 hole hitter.
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 03:43 PM) I'll make this argument: Noesi is a starter. He is not a reliever. Look at the evidence. His only other decent year was when he started most of the games. Despite a bullpen in tatters what do the Sox do immediately upon claiming this middle reliever? they put him in the rotation and keep him there. I think it was more along the lines of Cooper knowing how to make Noesi more effective than the Sox saying he needs to be starting because his stats were better.
  17. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 06:12 PM) My question is: Is Semien really that valuable? Keep seeing he could be the "center piece" to a deal and I'm sitting over here wondering if I missed something or what... Also just to clarify, Montas is the guy the Sox just got for... Dunn? Isn't he projected more as a late inning guy and not a starter? Montas came from the Red Sox in the Peavy deal. Sox got Sanburn for Dunn.
  18. If the Sox are trading Anderson, they better be receiving Upton back too with an extension in place. Anderson is the only hitting prospect showing signs of development.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 12:31 AM) Don't think Sox would want another RH bat. If anything, its about CarGo, Dickerson or Blackmon in my opinion. I'd love if the Sox could get Arenado, but I realize the Rockies won't want to trade him.
  20. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 12:25 AM) FWIW, you guys are right. A lot going on. The next week or two will be very active. Rick and Beane have been in talks all week. Dodgers cooled off. Still heavy talks with Reds and Rockies as well. Sweet. Thanks for the update bucket.
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 12:02 AM) I was actually thinking Semien, Hawkins and Beck. Hawkins? That just doesn't seem like the type of player Beane would be interested in. Semien would definitely get his attention though.
  22. If there's any truth to that, I hope the Sox didn't give up too much to get him. I've never really been that big of a Shark fan. Maybe there's a 3-way with the Braves?
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 27, 2014 -> 10:01 AM) No one else wanted him, or he wouldn't be at Charlotte. Other teams don't want him at the cost of what the Sox are paying him. There might be other teams willing to sign him and give him a ST invite after he refuses Charlotte and they can get him for cheaper.
  24. Shame to see Carroll go. Hope the Sox try to bring him back on a minor league deal, he's a great feel-good story and one of the more genuine athletes out there.
