Roster at 37
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) Nieto not a surprise, no one would claim him or Rule V him (again). Guerra is a loss though, I thought he could be a potential 2016 bullpen piece. Possible, but at 31 entering next year, I'd be really surprised if that was the case. I'd rather the Sox take a chance on a young reliever than an old ones that could simply be a AAAA player.

Hahn Confirms: Ventura back for 2016
I can't believe the Sox actually made this announcement and think that Sox fans are going to be behind this move. Ventura is not the only reason this franchise is in disarray, but he's long overstayed and proven to us that time and time again he has no clue what the hell he's doing. Can't wait to here the Sox cry about no one coming to the park next year after the teams starts sluggish out of the gate for yet again after spring training and lacking heavily in the basic fundamentals of a major league ball club. Making Parent a scapegoat is embarrassing. Keeping Ventura is a slap in the face to the fans.

At Least We Have New Video Boards!
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 11:01 PM) And the new boards are just a part of the overall offseason stadium renovations, although Boyer declined to discuss any of those other plans at this time. "Come Opening Day next year, it's going to look a lot different," Boyer said. --From White Sox.com Mark Interesting... Wonder what else could be done to change the look? I like the look of the new boards. I'll miss the old school pinwheels, but the Cell is in need of some modern technology.

Abreu Seeking To Match Pujols' Record
Congrats to Jose, I did not think he would pull it off in the RBI category. One of the lone bright spots this year.

Some disturbing Sox numbers…yet the status quo remains
QUOTE (captain54 @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 01:28 PM) Since the Sox fade down the stretch in 2012, (where they went 4-11, from 9-19 till the end of the season).. a terrible offensive slump and starters ERA in the 5's was their doom.. Combined record to date over the course of roughly three seasons: 212-279…87 games under .500 Understood that the win pct. has gone up since the end of 2012, but comparing 2014 to 2015, we are only taking about 3 wins… the nightmarish 2013 record will skew this, but we have an average seasonal record over 3 seasons of roughly 70-92 Now I challenge anyone to name me one organization that puts this type of product on the field, and makes NO major changes concerning the powers that be that have engineered this mess over three seasons…. Underperforming players? (By the way, Rongey's favorite catch phrase).. Somepne in authority has put these under performers on the roster, on a consistent basis for a while now.. yet.. no responsibility.. no accountability.. The fact Robin is still managing blows my mind. Name one other manager that has kept their job with that type of performance over a three year period when their organization is "going to compete" for the playoffs. The Sox don't have a roster full of crap. Sure, there is mostly mediocre to average players, but clearly there's a pattern of players vastly underperforming here once they get here. In my mind that points to the coaching staff being unable to get them to perform at the level of their career norms. Hell, look at how awful the Sox have looked the last few years coming out of Spring Training compared to other teams during the first week of the season. This team wiffs at the fundamentals of baseball. And there's a lot to blame on the FO too. I give Hahn a pass for the most part, because I can't see him being fully in charge of the decision making while still living in KW's shadow. JR's undying loyalty and KW's stubbornness have slowly killed this franchise and produced the on-field product we have suffer through watching night in and night out. I don't see a massive amount of changes until JR kicks the bucket.

My/Your Off Season Plan
I would love for the Sox to figure out a way to get Machado from the Orioles for Quintana + but there's no way the O's are going to move him.

If you traded Sale to Dodgers……...
QUOTE (Soxfan90 @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) It will be foolish to trade Sale, and that's all I have to say about that. I agree. I get he'd net you an unbelievable haul, but lets be honest... no team is going to be able or want to pay the right asking price for him. If the Sox do trade him, it's going to be an underwhelming return based on everyone's expectations of what they should recieve.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 08:04 PM) Cabrera doesn't bat 1-3 anymore, anyway. At least not often. And Fowler's OBP is .350. Nothing special. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 08:07 PM) The White Sox have 1 regular who's OBP is .350, Jose Abreu, and his is exactly .350. Literally every other player on the White Sox who has a decent number of PAs (basically excluding TT) has an OBP of .350 and below. The White Sox have had 0 players who you'd describe their OBP as "special". Exactly what I was getting at.

9/10 Game
How about we just call them WSD from now on?

My/Your Off Season Plan
Avi's still only 24. While he's been frustrating to watch at times, I still find it hard to give up on him because he does have some flashes of potential to be a winning piece. I'm am done seeing him in the OF. The Sox need to find a way to dump LaRoche and let Avi play sparingly in RF while mostly DH'ing. Call me crazy, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Sox go after Fowler if he leaves the Cubs. Not sure they could get him or Eaton to move to RF, but he's the type of OBP the team needs at the top of the lineup. Eaton, Fowler, Abreu is a pretty nice 1, 2, 3. Plus that allows Melky to move further down in the order where he belongs.

no slider Chris Sale
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) He also gave up a homer or two with the inside fastball, so... He gave up 3 runs, since when does that equate to a bad pitching performance? If the Sox could muster more than 3 hits, maybe Sale would have a chance. Read this Link and tell me he's useless without the slider.

9/7 vs Cleveland Indians
Olt 2nd day in a row? Sox must really be giving him a chance. Would have liked to see Thompson instead of Shuck though. We all know what the Sox have in Shuck...

Joe Jackson reinstatement request denied
QUOTE (reiks12 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 05:06 PM) Shoeless Joe Jackson is a baseball legend in lore and real life. The evidence is there to prove his innocence. What does MLB gain by having him banned? I personally think it's one of those things where MLB doesn't ever want to admit they were wrong about a ruling.

8/31 Games
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) I'm assuming Nieto is getting called up tomorrow as well because a catcher I have never heard of is playing for the Barons right now. Batting a solid .207 in Double-A? Not a snowball's chance in hell. It's likely just an off day for him. Smith or Brantley will get that 3rd C spot.

8/26 vs Boston Red Sox
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Serious question: If Hahn acquires Kendrys Morales instead of LaRoche would the Sox have been a contender this season? I think he would have made them a little better, but not enough to get them in the playoffs. This organization is doomed with the current FO/coaching staff in place.

Trayce Thompson
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 06:29 PM) You're right, but you have to trade something to get something. Good teams sell high. If the Sox have a replacement, that's what you do - sell high. Then the Sox should sell from their lone position of strength - pitching. Trading Q makes much more sense than Eaton IMO.

White Sox Survey...
I feel sorry for whoever has to read these. Definitely used the word embarrassed among other things.

Tyler Flowers
I think Flowers gets a bad rep more than most because he's been with the organization since 2009. Plus remember when he was acquired, everyone thought the Sox got this great offensive hitter. He's been a huge disappointment, but like a lot of people have said in this thread - he's not the biggest problem for the Sox. There really aren't many "great" catchers in baseball at the moment.

7/28 White Sox @ Red Sox 6:10 CT
I guess that's one way to get Bonifacio off the team... (On a more serious note, I do hope he's ok.)

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:55 PM) Deals for Shark to TOR and SF in place. The deals are sitting there. KW is still "all in" on '16 and Rick is not so there's that drama right now. I guess we can guess one deal involves an "all-in" and the other is for prospects.

Chris Sale Cy Young Watch
I would think this is his year assuming he keeps doing what he's done. He's been so fun to watch and absolutely dominating.

Who gets moved from the bullpen?
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) Petricka has a 3.27 ERA. Doesn't strikeout a lot of hitters but induces many ground balls. I wouldn't consider him terrible at all. He also owns a .295 BAA - I wouldn't consider that good either.

SoxNet: What To Do With Alexei Ramirez
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) All these people jumping on the Saladino bandwagon scare me. Also all the people jumping off the Alexei bandwagon scare me. The Sox said they have a 3 year window. They aren't trading Alexei, and especially at a low point. Tell me this: Who is more likely to hit .260, have 30 doubles, 20SB, and 65 RBI's while playing solid D? And who is more likely to hit .240, have 3HR, 10 Doubles, 20SB and 40RBIS? Look at their career stats guys! Just because Saladino put down some successful bunts in his first 10 games doesn't mean he's going to hit .300 and be a savior!! He's just a bright spot on a team that has hit historically bad!! Saladino is 26 years old. In his time in the MINORS his career averages are .261 avg, 9HR, 20 doubles, 22SB Ramirez will be 35 years old. In his MAJOR league career his averages are .273 avg, 12 or so HR, 30 Doubles, 20SB *** these numbers are rounded and not exact ... half seasons into account, etc. This board is full of too many Hawks. Super excited when we win a few or a person like Saladino bats .300 over 10 games, and super depressed and fire sale when bad things happen. Alexei's trade value is too low to sell. His $10mm contract is not crazy for his production. He is not a hole on this team. A stop gap signed at $6mm does not give us a better opportunity to win next year. Saladino does not give us a better chance to win next year. Focus on 3B, C, and finding a better option in RF/moving Garcia to DH SHEESH. I don't think it's that people are jumping off the Ramirez bandwagon just because he's down from his career norms. He's 33 yrs. old. How many average/slightly above average MLB regulars continue to put up career-like numbers once they get around his age? Not too many unfortunately. I personally think Ramirez's ability is starting to decline, and the last thing the Sox need is to pay a guy hitting like Ramirez $10M for next year. He's on pace for only 5 HR's this year. That's a HUGE warning sign IMO for a guy who's averaged 14 his whole career. Look at this Link, Ramirez is near the bottom in almost every category. I'm pretty sure the Sox could find a guy who can produce at a similar rate for less, and then allocate the money they saved elsewhere. I hope Ramirez proves me wrong the rest of the year, but I don't think we're ever going to see the Ramirez we've had over the past few years ever again. I agree with you on Saladino. Don't get me wrong, I like Saladino, but I don't see him ever becoming a MLB regular beyond this year. IMO, his minor league stats scream solid bench or utility type player. But you can't disagree that he's brought a little bit of excitement to a very disappointed fanbase, and for a team that has zero ability in producing MLB impact bats.

White Sox call up Tyler Saladino
I don't think Saladino is the answer at 3B either, but he's been impressive in his first few games up. The Sox need all the production they can get out of the position, so they might as well keep him there until he shows he can't do it or a better option comes along. I think he's the Sox long term answer as far as a bench player goes - filling in all over the IF. He certainly doesn't help Sanchez, Boni, or Beckham make their case to stay on the 25-man.

Dan Jennings
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) Realistically, Dan Jennings has to be starting to feel the heat. He knows that Albers is still out there healing, and needs a roster spot. There are also Crain and Jones out there in limbo somewhere who both could also be back. Out of curiosity, does Jennings have options left? I do not believe so. However, him being terrible right now might actually help the Sox slide him through waivers if they feel he is worth trying to sort out at Charlotte.
