  1. Trading guys with 2+ years left on long-term deals is pretty rare. He could demand another trade after a year (a la Javy Vazquez), unless that rule is not in the new CBA.
  2. While I 100% believe k0na that a deal is done, I give these figures about a 1% chance of being true. Mark just got $14.5M per year to pitch from age 33-36. John is getting no less than $15M per year to pitch from age 26-30, even with an extra year on the deal. My guess would be 5 years and something between $75-80M.
  3. He also broke the Peavy trade--the first one that Peavy ultimately rejected. I don't know him personally, but with that track record, I'd bank on it.

    Ask a question

Can't read my, can't read my, no he can't read my poker face. Where do you live?
  6. If the Cubs win the WS in 2012, then I will buy into it.
  7. Glad at least one person got it.
  8. Completely forgot about Se7en. Would have had that on my list.
  9. Anthony Daniels was the perfect guy to send to North Korea, being fluent in over six million forms of communication.
  10. For Sam's sake, the list he'd better have is not the one of his customers but of some big-time suppliers. Somebody is doing a bunch of years for those drugs, and the more years he can pin on bigger fish, the fewer he gets himself.
  11. It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.
  12. I actually find myself paying with my debit card even when I have enough cash, just to avoid getting pennies. ===== Eliminating pennies and dollar bills is a good start, but I'd go further. Eliminate dimes, half-dollars, ten dollar bills, and fifty dollar bills. All the currency you need are nickels, quarters, dollar coins, fives, twenties, and hundreds. Though unnecessary, I would keep the $2 bill around to appease the people who hate coins so much. Also may want to consider putting the $500 bill back into circulation due to inflation.
  13. I'm kinda hoping that the part before the first blue line represents Adam Dunn's production in 2011, the part between the blue lines his production in 2012, and the part after the second blue line is his production in 2013.
  14. Not really from Plymouth. Went to Argos HS but lived out in the country and had a Plymouth address.
  15. Why was Konerko affected by Mauer's engagement?
  16. Crist has graduated already, so as long as he enrolls in a graduate program that ND does not offer, he will not have to sit out a year.
  17. So does everybody just want to comment on my comment, or can anybody actually answer my question?
  18. I think this sums up the financial mess: I have a BS and MS in math, both from Top 50 universities, and I don't understand a damn thing you just wrote. So I'm guessing that well over 99% of Americans don't understand either. Assuming that everything you said is 100% correct, how do you convince the average American voter that it is more important to elect people who will implement these solutions than to elect people who will support/oppose abortion, raising taxes on the rich, gay marriage, cut wasteful spending, etc.
  19. Oh, were you referring to the running joke in the movie between his character and HEDY Lamarr? If you had spelled it correctly, I would have gotten the joke.
  20. No. If they lost the game with 20 seconds left on the 20 yard line, that's clearly on the defense and not the strategy.
  21. The point is that you choose the plan of action that carries the highest probability of winning the game. Knowing that the Bears are 100% running the ball, getting a first down is very unlikely. Just downing the ball and running the clock down leaves less of a chance of Denver scoring than running plays where a turnover or clock stoppage could happen.
  22. Which is more likely to happen: 1) Broncos get the ball at the 20 with 20 seconds left and score 2) Bears turn the ball over or otherwise give the ball back to Broncos with more than 20 seconds left and Broncos score.
  23. I wouldn't give him 4/60 right now since 2012 is still an arb year and he only figures to make $8-9M, but I'd give him 4/55.
  24. Lived in Oak Park from 1999-2004 and took the Green Line to at least a dozen games per year. Never once had a problem. Entertained myself on the way home by playing the very politically incorrect game of guessing what stop people would get off at based on their appearance.
  25. I've had a similar discussion before--not with Brooks but with Scott Reifert. I told him that I think the "fringe areas" of Sox territory are an untapped market. In addition to the idea I listed above, I've talked about how a lot of those places I've mentioned don't get all of the Sox games on TV. They are all in the Sox' "home area", so their games are blacked out on MLB Extra Innings. However, most of those areas don't get the games that are on WCIU and some of them (Indy specifically) don't even get the games on CSN. So you have a major city in your "home area" that can only get 25 or so games a year on TV. No wonder most people in Indy are Reds fans.
