  1. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 10:15 PM) Judging from some of the recent discussion, it sounds like the Sox haven't even made an offer yet. One would think that if it's taken this long to produce an offer, then it should be a pretty enticing, well thought over offer. I'm excited to see what transpires. I'm sure they have made "offers" but have yet to make an official formal offer. Hopefully it's good enough and we have a great Monday.
  2. If Zangari is the difference between acquiring a Carlos Gonzalez or not, you make that trade 100/100. As well as Zangari played, he's a young prep hitter who has a LONG way to go before he even sniffs the majors. In fact, the chances that he pans out are low, as with any high potential prep prospect.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 22, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) Uhhhhh...he is EXACTLY what this team needs. Literally the only negative about him is that he's 32. Age, limited power, position switch from LF to RF, and the fact that his speed skill set will likely degress is what I'm talking about. For the price, I'd much rather have upton. I'm not saying Gordon wouldn't help, but there are better options.
  4. I really believe that this is just smoke and mirrors for leverage on Cespedes/Upton. Gordon doesn't make sense for what we need.
  5. The negativity about this trade is unbelievable. What Trayce did in the last month is the type of player he is going to be. Probably a 75% chance Montas is a reliever, and I'm not even sold he'll be successful at one.
  6. Schwarber is awful vs lefties. Wouldn't surprise me to see him hit .240 next year
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) Reminds me when an espn guy wrote something to the effect of 29 fanbases grossly overvalue their own prospects. And then there's White Sox fans. That's my point of view in this. You need to give something to get something. I wouldn't give up EJ for Lawrie. But, selling high on someone like Engel who had a hot ~75 PA in the AFL for a starting 3B? Count me in.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) A. we don't know what the sox are giving up. B. he's not that good, and C. best since Crede can still be garbage. I agree. But we can't overvalue our prospects.
  9. Lawrie would easily be our best 3B since Crede if this happens. Not sure why so many don't like it.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 10:13 AM) ND's best wins would be @Stanford, vs Navy, @Temple, @Pitt OU's best wins would be @OSU, @Baylor, vs TCU, @Tennessee OU's wins are slightly better, but not by a lot, and also OU's loss is to a team that ND beat (by a lot). Honestly, both of them have better wins than Alabama. There only team in this week's playoff rankings that they've beaten is #21 Mississippi St., who drops out of the rankings if they lose to Mississippi, and by the time Florida loses to FSU and then Alabama, they'll barely be ranked. Committee doesn't have the balls to leave the SEC out of the playoff though. OU's wins are far better than ND's.
  11. I won't predict dollar amounts. But..... Wieters, Alexei, and Fister. Quintana + for a 3B.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) Aybar, Ellis, Newcomb and money Wow. I expected it would take more.
  13. Special effects and the movie look amazing. I can't wait.
  14. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) I can say that this isn't true, at least not for the Cubs. They got to where they are now through getting incredible return value from their trades. Rizzo, Russell, Arrieta, all worked out perfectly for them. McKinney will contribute at some point next year. They are also extremely aggressive in LA spending, signing Soler and shattered the budget on a years to stock their farm. On the other hand, of the 3 first round picks on their team, Schwarber was definitely not the BPA at the time, Baez was a mild reach. Only Bryant was the BPA out of the first round picks. Kyle Schwarber hit .143 with 27 K/ 61 PA this year against LHP and also cooled down drastically at the end of the year. Forget the hype, Let's see how that looks next year.
  15. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 09:02 AM) I have said it before and I'll say it again: The Sox have to take a hitter at #10 unless there is a pitcher that is unbelievably good that slipped somehow. That's how you get in a bad situation. If the BPA is a pitcher, you continue to load up on pitching and acquire a bat via trade.
  16. Yeah he isn't accepting. Thanks for the draft pick and peace out.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 10:30 PM) If this hasn't been mentioned, the shedding of 2012 salary/losing players for "nothing" were instrumental in netting us the funds to sign Abreu. This. No need to mention more.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) Thanks for the link. I like how the pinwheels can now display graphics and messages. Agree. The old pinwheels and huge mcdonalds sign were an eye sore IMO. Looks like a fantastic addition. Im excited.
  19. Not really a major procedure at all. No reason to knock him down on his potential because of it.
  20. anyone else's ESPN sound really weird right now? I can hardly hear the commentators.
  21. Dayan is the same player we had before. Dont get excited and theres not a reason he should play infront of other young players.
  22. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) League is going back to court this is not over. It's pretty much over. There is no way they win the appeal.
  23. Micah traded, Saladino utility bench player. Sanchez 2b, Anderson SS. Alvarez I have no idea.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) Sanchez is decent but players, especially young ones become very overvalued when they are hot, and undervalued when they are struggling. Patience is not something that is in excess here. Sanchez was written off earlier, should have been sent back to Charlotte. Now, he should have been the starter all along. 2 weeks from now, he may be deemed a top 5 2B in baseball or nothing more than a defensive replacement. Who really knows how he would have done if he was picked over Micah right away? Chances are he would have been sent down if he hit what he hit initially hereand maybe his success now has something to do with his success in Charlotte earlier. We really will never know. He isn't as good as this hot streak. He never was the .150 hitter he looked like earlier. Lifetime milb .288 hitter and improved each time he was promoted after getting the hang of it. He could very well be a .265-.275 hitter in the bigs.
