Sox to put in a claim for Washburn?
They'd want a decent reliever and a pretty good prospect I would imagine.

Diamondbacks get Adam Dunn
Also would this make Chad Tracy available now (mancrush again immiment).

Diamondbacks get Adam Dunn
Hmmm, interesting deal (if it's true, depending on the prospects). Now do they try to sign him in the off-season? They've got Byrnes, Young and Upton in the OF and Conor Jackson at 1B (who's been their best hitter this season IIRC). But Arizona has gone from having the best farm system argubly a year ago, to probably a mediocre one now. They've traded 10 prospects alone for Dan Haren, Jon Rauch and now Adam Dunn.

Russia v Georgia
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 01:37 PM) This would quite literally cause WWIII by the way. They are nothing like old Soviet strength, but they are still Russia. And they would probably have the backing of China I would say, and that would scare the hell out of America I would think, those 2 nations working together.

Russia v Georgia
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 01:33 PM) You guys haven't answered my question. What exactly do you folks mean by "Grow some nuts"? Are you actually advocating a military response against Russia by the Eurozone? No absolutely not, that would be a crazy idea. I was just stating that the European Nations probably believe that since America has so many troops of Iraq, Afghanistan etc. and is basically the world leader on cleaning up these tpye of things, that they could possibly expect some sort of action from America. And America could do some diplomatic / economic retaliation possibly, but as you said, the price of oil is such a huge issue right now, and I don't think it would look good to the American Public for Bush if the price went up just because they took some action against another major powerhouse in the world.

Sox Trade for Franklyn German
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) Where did you see that number from? I don't think there is any way he got that BEFORE his injury, let alone after. How much would you be willing to pay him FWIW Tony? Because after the Contreras injury, and if the contract is insured (which from what I've read, will be) we'll have even more $$$ to splash around. And therefore KW might try some "Andrew Jones'" type of offers, e.g a short term deal at an higher inflated price maybe?

Memphis
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) Cabs? Why didn't you take the trolley??? It costs like 50 cents and gets you around most places you need to go, other than Graceland and the airport. Glad you had fun though. We stayed at a hostel about 10 mins south east of the city center. So we needed Cabs to get into the city, otherwise we would have been walking for hours. We did use the Trolley a few time though.

Sox Trade for Franklyn German
QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) Why in the hell do people keep saying this? What would we owe him? $13 million over 1.3 years? That's not exactly a Zito- or Hampton-like risk. And if Jose's contract is insured, we'd be recouping at least half that. My point is, I'd rather spend the money on something more valuable e.g A bonafide stud CF or a excellent 2nd baseman such as Orlando Hudson. I think a guy such as Egbert if he was given a chance would be a suitable 5th starter for the team next season. Hence why'd I'd rather if you were going to add someone, just go for a stopgap starter whose contract is up at the end of the season.

Memphis
Well we had a good time down there. My main gripe would be getting around in the city. We ended up spending around $30 each just on Taxi's (in a group of 8) just to get around the city and to the airport and back etc. Beale Street was good fun though, people doing flips in the street, 32 ounces of beer for $4, definitely something that I hadn't experienced before. We tried going to Rendezvous on Sunday but it was closed. Had to settle for Corky's at the airport on Sunday Night. The Flying Saucer was a great bar as well Northsider. 120 different beers, I could have stayed there a LONG, LONG time.

Russia v Georgia
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) How long until GW ties Russia to Al-Qaeda and the 9/11 attacks? That'd be a fitting end to mark the end of his presidency wouldn't it. My guess is America wants to help Georgia out by sending in troops, but that they won't do it because they don't want to piss Russia off. I wonder how China feels about this also, my guess is they'd be on the Russian's side.

Sox Trade for Franklyn German
Washburn just scares me too much considering his salary and what we'd probably have to give up for him. Even though his ERA is decent away from Safeco. But will the likes of Broadway or Egbert be given a chance to start when we're contending for a playoff spot? I'd doubt it.

Sox Trade for Franklyn German
Looks like we're just desperate for arms right now. I doubt we would have given up anyone of note e.g the Ramirez for Orlando trade.

How do people think Cox has done overall as a 3rd base coach this season? Has he been an upgrade on Razor Shines and / or Joey Cora?

What are the chances of Uribe returning?
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) Not a chance in hell. Yeah if he was healthy and made it to 30HR's, then maybe there was a little chance, but with the way things are going with Joe right now, I don't even know when we're going to see him in a White Sox uniform again.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 01:48 PM) Not that it is that big of a deal but can I make a request for a spoiler and non spoiler thread? I guess we could post results in spoiler tags, if people don't want 2 seperate threads? I'll bow to the majority though.

What are the chances of Uribe returning?
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 04:10 PM) Why is that? Crede isn't going to be a type A FA. So his only chance is really being a type B FA. I still hold a little hope that he somehow might get to Type A (granted it's below 5%). So I guess Type B is the best we can hope for. Better than nothing I suppose.

The Batman Soundtrack is gotta be some of the best if not the best orchestra music I've heard of all time. Like a Dog Chasing Cars, Why So Serious and Introduce a little Anarchy are all very, very catchy.

Yeah it looks like the Bears are going to be terrible on offense again this season if Williams is out for an extended period of time.
