  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 13, 2006 -> 06:58 AM) I hope she moved on my block..... Take her Mushroom Hunting. I'm sure she'll enjoy that.
  2. Anderson's picked things up lately a little with the bat. Considering the amount of OF prospects we have still, and how much Hunter would earn for a new contract, there's no chance in hell that we're gettin him. The Yankees would easily be the best bet right now, considering the injuries to Sheff and Matsui.
  3. QUOTE(S720 @ May 12, 2006 -> 06:39 AM) How the hell you traded away Beltran, Damon and Dye and got almost NOTHING back is beyond my understanding AND imagination! Baird made the mistake of trading Beltran for not the best prospects he could get, but for prospects that filled a need for the Royals. Needless to say, Buck and Teahen have not paid off.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 12, 2006 -> 06:12 AM) Umm, if they havent considered Dave Wilder, its a f***ing crime. Yeah Wilder would be a good choice. But consider this from Dave Wilder's point of view. Why take the Kansas City job if it's offered to you, when you could possibly wait it out a little longer and get a better job like in say Baltimore, Seattle or Washington?
  5. They should have put the money they put into FA's like Sanders, Grudz etc. into the farm system and scouting. There's not going to be a quick fix for this organization. They don't have much good young pitching, which is a rebuilding club needs. J.P Howell's not a bad prospect, but they don't really have anyone else in the minors. GM wise, Steve Phillips would be a HORRIBLE choice, but with this franchise, nothing would suprise me. They need a young up and comer from another organization, kind of like Josh Byrnes.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 12, 2006 -> 05:55 AM) That would be all lefties and one righty in the pen. I think thats a little too much lefty. Cotts, Thornton, Logan and Lopez. Seattle had 4 lefties in the pen at one time last season. I don't really buy into the thought that you can have too much of one thing. If Lopez has a better chance at getting major league hitters out than Montero, then in my mind, he should be the guy that's brought up. But the Sox have obviously liked what Montero has done with his delivery done at Charlotte as Jim said.
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 12, 2006 -> 04:18 AM) No offense to this guy because I hope he does well, but I want KW to trade for a proven reliever eventually the more I think about it. I'm sure 29 other teams would love to trade for a proven reliever as well. Supply and Demand is a wonderful thing, let's hope we don't overpay for one at the deadline e.g what Florida gave up for 2 months of Ron Villione. It sounds like Montero's been doing a job for us down at Charlotte, and hopefully he can do a job for us at the big league level. I know Mike said he was suprised it wasn't Tracey, but I actually thought Javier Lopez could have been the guy possibly.
  8. Birmingham Barons Pos: RP DoB: 04/15/82 Ht: 6'3" Wt: 180 Bats: R Throws: R Sierra was claimed off the Rockies 40 man roster. He was originally signed as an undrafted FA from the Dominican Republic by the A's in 1999. So far in 3 appearances for the Barons he has a 11.57 ERA with 3BB's and 2K's. For the Yanks he had a 3.28 ERA in AA ball in 33 games pitched. Basically he has awful control right now, and his only dominating pitch is his fastball which he throws in the mid 90's. He also has a splitter and a slider. He had 212BB's in 387.2IP before the start of this season. In his last outing on May 8, Sierra grazed Matt Kemp of the 2nd of 2 inside pitchers in the infamous game that was called early. He got tossed for that.

QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) rape and pillage? i don't call trading a guy that will never help your team win a world series, for bullpen help raping and pillaging? obviously your life sucks bad enought to be the "tough talking message board guy", so these are my last thoughts on the subject. Anderson-4th outfielder Garland- one year wonder Crede-playing for contract what about danny wright? where's mckay christensen? what about super joe borchard? scott ruffcorn? rodney bolton? jon rauch? the great one year wonder mike caruso luis andujar arnie munoz? and the names go on and on spout all the names for me you'd like gutless wonder. the best you got is mr. one year jon garland???? looks like you'll have to take his sausage outta your mouth to respond. looks like the sox disagree with you as charlies ass we sent packing back down to the minors. now please give us a rant on kenny williams and why this was wrong. And how do you know Haeger will never help this team win a World Series after 1 Major League Outing? If he sucks so much as you've said, what type of bullpen help, if any, are we going to get for him? Anderson a 4th OF? Good to see you've reached that fact after less than a month and a half. Guess you thought Jermaine Dye was a terrible signing this time last season as well. Garland a 1 year wonder? He's given up 10ER in his last 4 starts you know, after his 1st 2 outings.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Mediocre starting pitching + s***ty bullpen= not a contender. Unless they make over their whole pitching staff, they aren't going anywhere. Sabathia and Lee are their best SP's no doubt. Westbrook, Byrd and Johnson are all iffy right now. It was ALWAYS going to be very hard for them to replace the output they got from Howry, Rhodes and Riske last season. Mota is really struggling, Cabrera's been injured, they're just a mess right now.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) Brandon is streched out enough to give 5 to 6 in his next start. He looked good. Yeah he did. But I like the option he gives us in the bullpen right now in terms of being able to pitch 3 innings, or being able to get a key out in the 7th or 8th. And our bullpen is still fairly volatile as it is right now. Hopefully whoever is promoted from Charlotte can fill B-Mac's role adequately enough. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) I would have as well just because I don't think it's worth it to screw around with Brandon when he's still trying to get used to being a reliever, for only one start. Yeah the last thing I want to come out of all of this is for Brandon to start getting arm problems. He's SO important for the future of this ballclub.

    Haeger

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) I think he'll be fine, if not good in the long run. He's already worked with Hough, and Phil Niekro has offered to help him as well. He's 22 with only one full season above A ball. His stuff moved everywhere, and it was much nastier than Wakefield. From what I saw of him briefly on Baseball Tonight, his stuff looked fairly good. The Knuckle was breaking, and he throws it pretty hard as well at about 70MPH, a lot faster than say Tim Wakefield like you said. If anything, it's great that Charlie even got the oppurtunity to pitch tonight, considering how much progress he's made so far this season, for a guy who hasn't pitched a lot in the last few years. I still like him as a prospect, and I think he could definitely have a future for us in our rotation if all goes well for him.
  13. I would have given Haeger possibly another game, very hard for a pitcher in his 1st major league game to come out and pitch well straight away. But the Sox have obviously made their decision. I'd go with Lopez as the pitcher to call up because he's got the runs on the board and has pitched very well down at Charlotte, but if it's Tracey, hopefully he does well in a few appearances for us.

    Haeger

Haeger needs to learn how to throw the kunckleball for strikes if he wants to be sucessful in the majors. But he showed enough tonight to suggest that he definitely has a future at the major league level if he can improve on that. He just needs more time to "refine" his stuff, if you will, as Cerb said.
  15. Unless they replace Jason Johnson and Jake Westbrook gets back to his 2004 level, I can't see the Indians winning more than 90 games, and in this division the way that we are playing, I don't think that will be enough.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) Bolton Wanderers. Yuck. You've got Fat Sam vs. my pick of Joe Cole (at least he's sorta banged Keeley Hazell before (Ribbie would be jealous )).
  17. Escobar's pitched very well so far this season, it'll be a tough matchup for our hitters. But remember, he's Joe Crede's b****.
  18. Brian was easily our best hitter tonight going 2 for 4 with a HR. He's hitting .176 now, which means he's hitting .191 this month now. But he is hitting so badly in away games .091/.200/.182, that's what he needs to pick up on.
  19. Bobby's 2 out of his last 3 outings haven't been great, I'll give you that. But have they resulted in blown saves? Only 1 has, and until he starts recording a few more of those, nothing's going to happen in terms of a move.
  20. Congrats to Kap and his wife on this little bundle of joy. Hope all is well for you three.
  21. Too bad none of those teams are hardly elite, besides possibly Cleveland whose pitching would almost be the worst in the division right now.

    e3 2006 Thread

So I finally saw Morgan Webb for the 1st time on TV. Make sure you look at the camera though dear.
  23. And the Indians pitching gets worse by the day. Mota's ERA is up to 6.14 now, and Westbrook's 5.94. Unless they improve that aspect, they're in serious trouble no matter how good their offense is.
  24. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ May 11, 2006 -> 03:27 AM) I wouldn't get an Henry jersey... He'll almost certainly be with Barcelona in the Liga next year. I'd go with wayne rooney or sol campbell I think after the Gunners made the CL, he'll probably stay. He's been the best striker for the past 10 years, no question about it though. Campbell's got 1 or 2 seasons at best at the top level if hekeeps playing the way he did this season. Rooney would probably be the best bet, or you could go for a Joe Cole Chelski Jersey.
