QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) I went tonite, and for the most part the game was boring. Solid effort by Munro, average defense, poor offense. Calder, Lapointe, and Bell worked their asses off tonite and are the ONLY reason the Hawks scored. Again, Arnason played like absolute s***, and obviously isn't willing to put in the effort to play in the NHL. Richmond is severly undersized, but is a great skater. The thing I'm confused about is, we already have Duncan Keith, why add another one who is worse in his own end? How did Vrbata and Yakubov look? Radim's cooled off in his past few games, and Yak didn't see much ice time tonight.

Is Davis really that good? He's never been on a winning team before IIRC. And Blount has a terrible contract and he's one of the worst rebounding big men in the NBA today, as I'm sure Spiff would say as well.
-
Should hav traded Wally for Francis McHale. But at least the T-Wolves should be deeper now. The Celtics get a good expiring contract, but they're hindered by some real bad contracts as well.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) 8 weeks, I thought. As did I. But let's not go into the mind of Gage now. I saw the Suns just acquired Tskistvilli? from the T-Wolves for a 2nd round pick. IIRC D'Antoni might have coached him in Europe. If he's ever going to come good, Phoenix is probably the best place for him to do so.

Hawks just traded Spacek to the Oilers for some Finnish Winger e.g Salary Dump.

Some good discussion going on here. My thoughts are this; I don't believe Milledge is purely a product of East Coast Hype. I think he'll be better then Reed (who I still think will be a good player), plus he's got that 5 tool potential. However, at the moment, KW's not going to trade JC for LM straight up. Bringing Aaron Heilman into the equation, does make it more interesting though. That way we'll still have 6 pitchers who are able to start, and you can either B-Mac or Heilman into the rotation. Doing this, saves payroll, and allows for KW to make a big mid - season trade. I was one of JC's biggest backers during 2005, and I believe he's an excellent pitcher. That said, the way things have played, can the Sox afford to let him go for nothing, if we don't end up winning the world series.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Its killing me. I finally thought I had my full fantasy squad together and now he's gone for 8 months. It looks like my fantasy winning streak is gonna come to an end. You've still got it Gage.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) Milledge for Contreras doesn't help the White Sox in 2006, plus remember KW saying he wants pitching back if he deals Contreras. That's unfortunately probably the sad reality. Which personally I don't think is the right strategy. We could only have JC for 1 more season. Milledge could be a superstar on this team for 10+. Sometimes you have to look at more then just the present season. EDIT: It's kind of like the Coco Crisp for Andy Marte trade. A little short - term pain, for a gain in the long - term that should outweigh it.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) http://www.nypost.com/sports/mets/62295.htm Lastings Milledge... *drools* Oh man if you can get Milledge for Contreras, KW please you go ahead and make that deal. And I'd wouldn't rule it out at all. Minaya did give up Gabi Hernandez for Paul LoDuca (when he could of just signed Bengie Molina). Here are Milledge's minor league splits for 2005 FWIW; High A - .302/.385/.418 AA - .337/.392/.487

AL Sleeper - Toronto. Hard to really pick a sleeper in this conference, was thinking the Mariners, but they won't win in that division. The Blue Jays at least have a chance to steal a wild card spot. Bust - Angels. They've lost Molina, Washburn and Byrd to name a few, and they're still going to play Darrin Erstad everyday (he of the sub .700 OPS). Unless, they're smart and play Casey Kotchman everyday, can't see em winning the AL West at this stage. NL Sleeper - Diamondbacks. Probably a crazy pick to most people, but I like what they're building down in the desert. They've upgraded the bullpen, and they've allowed for players like Tracy and Green to move back into the positions they're most comfortable in. Getting Batista back, if they make him a starter, I think was a very unheralded pick-up along with Hudson who's probably the best defensive 2nd baseman in baseball, so that'll definitely help their pitchers. In that division, 4 teams can realistically win it, and they can callup players like Stephen Drew at mid-season to giv em a boost. NL Bust - Dodgers. Don't get me wrong, they've made a lot of acquisitions, but they're sort of like Boston, need a lot of things to run smoothly. Can the likes of Nomar and Drew stay healthy, and can Gagne come back sucessfully from his injury? I didn't like the Tomko pick up (4th starter not good), and although Seo has a good 2005, he's never really had to start games for a whole season, and his 2004 was quite brutal.

Looks like Mark Shapiro is sticking his hands too far down the Cookie Jar. Theo Epstein should really look into acquiring Austin Kearns now, although besides Arroyo, it's hard to find a match on who'd they trade besides prospects.

NBA's Most Improved Player
DBAHO replied to hammerhead johnson's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Speaking of the Timberwolves, I think Garnett is just going to explode there real soon. They've had 2 big losses in a row, and Kevin McHale's had about 5 to 6 years to build a good team around KG, and he hasn't done it. As for Chandler, in the right situation I definitely think he can flourish. A team like Seattle, who need an upgrade at PF, and could offer Radmanovic and Reggie Evans, Houston and New Jersey would certainly have him. But he's going nowhere. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) I've posted pretty constantly since 2002. Just call me Mr. Consistency. But c'mon that's since 2002. That's a snail's pace right there.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) God I hope he winds up there...just so Jauron can't hire him in Buffalo. They hired Scott Fairchild (former Rams OC) to be his OC today. -
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) Yeah I would have picked Alex Smith of TB before Clark. What's with Urlacher pulling out? Thats lame-o I think there were a lot of other TE's who would have been deserving instead of Smith, such as Jason Witten or Chris Cooley.

Perry's the worst baseball expert I've seen. I don't know why people would really care what he says.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) Don't know if it was noted, but Tom is a pitcher on the Australia WBC roster. Hopefully he does well for us. Too bad the likes of Chris Snelling are injured (as usual).

I've got a friend who's up to about Level 40 on the on-line version of that game. But that makes for some good reading.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) Peavy...no rings Zambrano...no rings Carpenter...no rings Zito...no rings Santana...no rings Prior...no rings Halliday...no rings Harden...no rings Total...NO RINGS! That is a woeful argument.
