QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) Smooth Andrew, two years and you've lost it. There are these teams called Great Falls and Bristol Bristol lost 3-2. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...gvlrok_brirok_1 Great Falls won 17-4. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...81&sid=t581 There ya go.
  3. It's good to be back.
  4. Been a couple of years since I did one of these but here we go; Charlotte lost 7-0 to Louisville. Whisler started, 5IP, 5R, 4ER, 3BB's and 3K's. Omorgrosso gave up 2ER in 2IP raising his ERA to 15.43. Lillibridge 2 for 3 with a BB raising his AVG to .216, Allen 0 for 4 with a K, Lucy 0 for 4 with 2K's. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb B-Ham won 7-5 over Mississippi in 11. Dan Hudson started, 5IP, 3ER, 3BB's and 8K's and 1HR, raising his ERA to 2.25. Long pitched 2IP of scoreless relief, Lujan 3BB's in 1IP. Viciedo 0 for 6 with 2K's, David Cook 3 for 6 with a HR, Flowers pinch hitted with a BB. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...47&sid=t247 W-Salem lost 5-4 to Frederick. Lowe started, 6IP, 1ER, 3BB's and 9K's. Nathan Jones gave up 3ER in 1.1IP raising his ERA to 2.70. Morel went 1 for 4, Salvador Sanchez 0 for 3 with a K. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...80&sid=t580 Kanny lost 6-5 to Hickory. Sauer started, 6IP, 4R, 2ER, 0BB's and 5K's. Kenny Williams 1 for 4, Escobar 0 for 2, Gilmore 2 for 4. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...87&sid=t487
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 03:50 PM) I actually wonder whether or not KW and therefore Ozzie are afraid to use Poreda in a key situation because they want him to put up some inflated numbers pitching in garbage time, raising his trade value. Anyways, all I see Ozzie saying in this is that Alexei needs to step his s*** up. He has big expectations for him, and he's not living up to them yet. Alexei's never going to be as good as Ozzie was defensively, but he can probably be an average shortstop. Interesting theory. Aaron's done the job so far, and I don't blame Ozzie for wanting to ease him into it. If Linebrink keeps struggling (pitched better today though), maybe Poreda could get a shot there. But the best case scenario is for Scott to pitch better and allow Aaron to keep doing what he's doing and pitch well. As for Alexei, that's just Ozzie being Ozzie. This team can't win if they're going to be sloppy defensively because of their subpar offense, and Ozzie knows that, so he's going to ride his players hard on that to make sure it doesn't keep happening.
  6. So the US beat Spain eh. Bit of a result that one.
  7. Also Patrick Mills going to Portland at 55, I'm calling it now, he's going to have a career. And yes some of it is my Aussie bias, but that kid is already proven on the international level, and he can drive and get to the rim. I hope he gets some playing time, but I doubt it behind Steve Blake and Jerryd Bayless (unless they move Bayless to the #2 spot).
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) They really need a dominant, can score on his own wing player in my opinion, so in that sense Vince helps them out. But at the same time, this move hurts their depth (although a starting 5 of Nelson, Carter, Lewis, Dwight, and Hedo if he stays is REALLY strong) and it's a win now move. Making a win now move when your best player is 23 years old is a bit strange to me, but I can see why they did it. Also, I think it's pretty clear SVG did not like Alston, so that plays a role. The way I look at it is this; 1 - SVG plays his starters 35 mins a night anyways, so he doesn't need a big bench. Plus we have Pietrus and J.J Redick to back up at 2-3 spots. 2 - With Anthony Johnson exercising his player option, we have our backup PG. So Alston wasn't needed, and he's a bit of a cancer and not good enough of a shooter for my liking (I was pretty critical of him in the playoffs). 3 - Losing Lee hurts because he's the first draft pick the Magic have hit on since Howard. But his upside is probably only as a solid player who can average around 15PPG. 4 - With the Cavs acquiring Shaq, Otis Smith felt he had to make this move. 5 - Anderson gives you a nice young SF/PF who can space the floor. But having a slasher who can create his own shot will be nice. However, this deal rides on us being able to re-sign Hedo. I don't care how far into the luxury tax you go, if you can't re-sign Hedo, this deal isn't worth it, because you've given up 4 guys for him. I'm real worried that Portland and Sacramento are going to offer him $10M a season, and if they do, I don't think we'll match. But I also love the Shaq trade as a Magic fan. Why? Because I don't see him and LeBron co-existing for a whole season because their ego's are too damn big. This deal could blow up real big time for them. But I also love what the Wizards did getting Foye and Miller for the 5th. With those 2 and getting Arenas back, that should be a playoff team. So the East just got a whole lot deeper and harder. The Bulls may not make the playoffs next season when it's all said and done.
  9. Would be nice if Maryse interfered in the Cena / Miz match this w/e. But Raw is woeful right now as it's been said. Same old HHH/Orton garbage, same old Vince McMahon on a power trip garbage. Said old Cena vs. Big Show garbage.
  10. Just choked on the 17th. But so did Phil. Is Mickelson ever going to win a U.S Open?
  11. Just saw also that Wily Mo Pena got released from the Mets AAA team. Not that I'm saying we should sign him, but if CQ doesn't come back, maybe the Sox will consider it for insurance purposes if they can't swing a trade for a replacement OF.
  12. I think Saito's a pitcher the Sox may look at, especially if Linebrink keeps struggling. And the Red Sox have said he could be dealt for a prospect IIRC.
  13. Yep in the last 5-6 games, Beck's done a much better job and his numbers reflect that. Now he has to show that he can hit at the Cell (.083/.154/.083) so far.
  14. A picture of a sheep would have been more appropriate for New Zealand (they're our version of Canada of course).
  15. At least CQ doesn't have a problem with his navicular bone in his foot. A sportsperson down here hasn't been able to walk properly for 3 years let alone play because of that type of injury, so it can be very dangerous to say the least. But as ptatc said, foot injuries are hard to deal with because of the blood supply down there.
  16. Ya Phil is rolling along here. If he makes this small eagle putt, he's tied for the lead. Tiger's out of it. Couldn't make any putts in the last 4 holes.
  17. Anyone else watching this? Tiger's only 4 back right now and he's got 4 holes to play. Mickelson also only 4 bad, as Barnes and Glover are struggling.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 06:00 AM) Marshall constantly beats his girlfriend and has cops always visiting his house. He has also had constant run ins with the law. He's far more the thug than Plaxico. I'm not saying Plaxico is amazing. The funny thing is there is TO who everyone b****es about yet he doesn't do anything wrong off the field. Such bulls*** TO gets so much hate. No but it's in the Locker Room and the sidelines where TO does all of his damage.
  19. I guess that shows how hard it can be to be a sports agent in this day and age. But I don't have any sympathy for people like Bora$$ of course.
  20. I think Ramirez's season last year may have put some unrealistic expectations on Viciedo coming into this season. But it'll be nice to have 2 replacements for Thome and Konerko in Allen and Viciedo ready to go possibly from the beginning of next season, if not 2012. That'll offer KW quite a bit of payroll flexibility to go after a frontline pitcher, or a stud CF.
  21. Well Branyan is the perfect sort of hitter for Safeco Field. And Branyan's always had the ability to take a walk. And he put up some pretty good numbers for the Brewers last season. He'll cool off, but I think he'll still end up with an OPS above .850 when it's all said done.
  22. I would take 3ER from Jose for 6IP for every start for the rest of the season if he was able to do that. The issue is, while the Sox still have a chance of winning the AL Central, Contreras is probably not going to get dealt if he keeps pitching well, unless KW gets wowed by an offer, and I don't think teams are going to give up a lot for an aging pitcher like Jose. I think we're probably stuck with him, unless KW's willing to cut his losses.
  23. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) The Boras client thing shouldn't be a big issue as Ankiel isn't gonna be receiving a big payday. Holliday, etc., yeah, it's a bigger issue. But right now, especially with this economy, Boras clients like Ankiel won't be breaking the bank... and like you said, he isn't having a great season. He's basically an obvious platoon guy. Has a .823 OPS against righties and only a .505 OPS against lefties. So you'd hope a guy like BA could platoon with him, but BA hits lefties worse (which has been a constant struggle for him throughout his career). Depending on the price, I'd still look into it though.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) With Jose losing his forkball tonight, I would again pray that we can trade Jose while he still has some value. And after watching Looper and Parra pitch recently, the Brewers would love to add Jose. And if Jose comes out and pitches like he did in the 2 games before that would you want to keep him then?
  25. Yeah I've not at all suprised about that news on Webb. That's the reason why the D-Backs didn't lock him up long - term during the off-season. Jon Rauch would be an interesting trade option, but he's blown his bridges here. An interesting buy low candidate would be Stephen Drew as he's having a down year, but Alexei would have to go back to 2B in that scenario. I've always loved Chad Tracy for his versatility (1B/3B/OF), but his numbers have really decreased and he has a whopping .409 OPS away from Chase Field this season, albeit a small sample size of 44 AB's. Tony Pena's a guy I would possibly look at if you were targeting another RH reliever also.
