  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) That's simply stupid. It just is. If more than a couple White Sox fans agree with that, I would be stunned. Why would you boo him unmercifully???? He's Paul Konerko, one of the heroes in White Sox lore. Stupid. This entire paragraph is the calling card of the baseball retarded. You first generalize a comment I made as "simply stupid" and follow it up with " He's Paul Konerko, one of the heroes in White Sox lore," which is of course intelligent. Several moments of glory allow you a lifetime of absolve from criticism. Then, you throw the classic "no one else agrees with your comment" card. As if you could actually find out whether it's true. You may have thought it looked good on your computer screen, but it just weakens your entire post. Except in the mind of the baseball retarded, who look at that phrase and say "you know what, he's right! Only a couple of the millions of White Sox fans would agree!" HAHA, yeah. Let's boo Guillen for failing to remove a struggling Konerko and completely ignore the player himself. I guess there's no such principle as personal accountability. I don't have kids. If I did, I wouldn't feel the need to teach them about the intricacies of when to boo and when not to boo. Let them decide. It's not an important lesson of life. It's a sport their watching afterall, and if they feel justified in booing a player then it's their choice. Although I have to wonder why you're so willing to constrast Konerko with Uribe considering Uribe is part of White Sox LORE with his defense in Game 4 of the World Series. Shouldn't he be praised forever too?
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) Yeah I probably could've used any other name but Jordan. Let's not fight anymore. You are an up and coming star in the chat universe, and I should be encouraging your rebellious attitude.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) If a player who sucks or plays like he sucks for months at a time in mid-career still qualifies as the best ever I don't really know what to say. That's ok. Your attempt at providing the other side of the argument angle in hopes of sparing Greg a verbal asswhooping failed miserably.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) In this non-existent hypothetical situation, if Jordan plays below average basketball for an extended period of time costing the team games, then he's not the best ever, is he? I'm not talking facts, I'm talking hypotheticals. Nope. He still is. Fail.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) I said does not understand White Sox tradition, meaning Paulie's place in White Sox lore. Any by the way if anybody would have booed Jordan for playing s***ty as you say they also would be insane. If you think it's OK to boo Paulie then we agree to disagree. I stand by all my posts. I agree. Who'd boo a player regarded as the BEST EVER in his sport and largely responsible for six championships? What I don't understand is you seem to be applying this historical perspective to Konerko. That is, if he's struggling in the present we're supposed to let it slide because of what he did in the past. Does this make sense? If he's hitting .200 in the second half, regardless of his place in White Sox lore, he should be booed unmercifully. His current status means more to me then what he did three years ago. We'll have plenty of time for reflection during the offseason. As of now, if he doesn't improve, I'd personally boo him even if I were wearing a Konerko jersey.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 01:10 AM) He's the most gifted all around baseball player I've ever seen, and all things considered, it's not even close. He could have been one of the all time greatest had he never had the problems he dealt with. Hell, even now, he STILL could end up one of the all time greatest. Did ESPN get to you too? Cmon now, I understand all he has been through and the great statistics he has put up thus far -- but a possibility of best ever? Only into his second season.....at age 27?! He'll have to begin by inflating that .910 OPS over 1.200 at some point. Better not leave Arlington. Also, he'll have to be producing at this level far into his 30's; since he missed a good portion of his 20's enjoying the lure of sweet, sweet drugs. If you were to compare his first two offensive seasons with those of other players he'd stack up well (still not among the greatest though -- Ted Williams and Lou Gehrig, for example, had better first two seasons), but it's tough to ignore his age. If you assume, like most players, that it takes several seasons to reach their potential -- then he should be reaching his prime around 30/31. Again, I'd question his longetivity at this point. Especially patrolling the OF. Maybe a hall of famer if everything goes right, but until he summons the ghost of Babe Ruth I'm not thinking of anything more of him.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 11:47 PM) I was rooting for it to keep going with all the pitchers used. I'd have loved to see Bud Selig's stupid ass left to shrug and call it a tie again, having no idea how to determine world series home field. However, it didn't work out that way and baseball NARROWLY avoids a 2002 like disaster. This game might scare Bud into changing this stupid ass rule though, almost really made him look awful again tonight. Ha, that's exactly what I was hoping for too. In my mind, Young hits into a DP and the inning ends. HISTORIC Yankee stadium is left with the tie and Selig has to squirm his way out of another problem.
  8. They should give Hamilton the MVP award for yesterday's life changing home run derby. It made me believe in the human spirit, again. Just.....very inspirational. It tells everyone out there if they have a drug addiction, and overcome it, they too can have the possibility of hitting 500+ft HRs during an exhibition game. Not to mention one day making millions of dollars.
  9. Crede and Quentin will have their share of AB's from this point forward if it goes extras considering Guillen is the only positional player on the AL yet to be used.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) Credepopsup Chat
  11. Didn't see that coming........ credepopsup
  12. It's going to be memorable watching Crede pop up during this memorable All-Star game at historic Yankee Stadium.
  13. There goes Jeters MVP bid. For now, atleast. He'll probably have one more AB.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 07:59 PM) With that hit and stolen base I think Jeter pretty much assured himself the ASG MVP. I'm sure they're looking for any reason to give a Yankee the MVP award.
  15. One Day, Aaron Rowand will be in centerfield as a hall of famer greeting the current all stars.
  16. All star edition. None of you have anything better to do, anyways. Admit it. People just don't like you.
  17. Everytime I look at Justin Morneau I just want to punch him in the head. He's such a meat head looking douche that always has that arrogant smile on his face.
  18. That inspiration speech for the National League is probably the best thing I've ever seen in the history of baseball since, well, Josh Hamilton's heroic home run exhibition yesterday.
  19. All star edition of chat room banter. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?autocom=chat
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 03:07 PM) Yes it does. Booing Paulie would be the lowest moment in Sox history after all he's done for the franchise. I would hope our fans would not do that. I'm saying judging from the hate on here he probably will be booed and that would be bulls***. Yes that would matter. Wow, even lower than a certain event which occured in 1919? I'll boo him just to be a part of history!
  21. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 10:50 PM) The Cubs dealing Hamilton is not something to mock, really: they did it out of a sense of decency, if I recall correctly, because the Reds wanted him and they had Narron who had coached him when he was young and even works with the Rangers now to take care of him, and they agreed to send him to Cinci so that Josh could have a better chance at making the big leagues and staying sober. It was no more and no less than that. Yes it is. They traded Hamilton to the Reds, HAHAHAHAHA. f***ing idiots. I also want everyone to know I'll forget about this home run derby by 2:00 in the afternoon tomorrow, and Josh Hamilton by tomorrow night.
  22. I agree it was impressive, but I hope ESPN doesn't over sensationalize this as the GREATEST THING EVER IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL!
  23. Erin Andrews was almost eye to eye with Justin Morneau. Even without high heels (which I assume she's wearing) the broad has to be a good 6'1, 6'2. Damn.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) If I was ever lucky enough to hit a walk off homer off KRod, I would relish it and show him up as much as possible. How he acted today was very bush league. What I'd do is just sit down on the ground and watch it. Maybe stretch out and relax at homeplate.
