  1. Yah. They got a pretty damn good SP insurance policy in Kopech. I don't think its too far of a reach to think, if given the opportunity (won't unless there is an injury, it appears), he could be our best SP the last 6 weeks of the season. I am not using our trade chips on a SP. Depth is nice, but Gibson isn't really needed.
  2. I hear ya. I am certainly OK trading Burger/Sheets + Dalquist/Thompson + Yolbert for Mancini and Fry. I don't really think any of those guys are keys to this 5 year window. I'd prefer to keep Kelley, if at all possible. I just worry about the OF defense and making our corner OF/DH/1B issue more jammed. Also don't love this team becoming ever more right handed. It'd be a mashers row tho, no doubt about it.
  3. Mancini makes this team better - but man. Not really sure this team needs another right handed poor corner defender.
  4. If you've giving a package of Sheets, Kelley and Lambert/Heuer, go for a bigger splash. What do we even need Gibson for right now?
  5. Too bad he cratered his value. Probably could have flipped him for useful pensman without the meltdown.
  6. PURE GOLD: TLR butchering Heuer’s name at the end of the video on chisox.com about his thoughts on the trades.
  7. I had this game on in the background today but didn’t pay close attention. Did Vaughn get any challenging plays? Saw a nice play on a pop out in short RF and a little soft liner but no grounders. But that was all I saw.
  8. I am hopeful they're just being cautious. I would imagine he'll be back tomorrow or Saturday. Not great tho, that is for sure.
  9. Probably just maintenance. Would be a pretty short rehab.
  10. Can’t wait til the Padres suck balls in 2023 with no championships because Preller blew all his talent on short term fixes. Paddack is a legit arm.
  11. I was wondering about that too but they clearly get a little leeway. Mendick will be optioned after the game.
  12. Yikes. Sox have played some really bad baseball of late.
  13. I knew Tauchmann was having a rough year. Guess I didn’t realize it was quite as bad is it has been. The 19-20 version would certainly be a useful platoon bat, but that version may be gone.
  14. He’s better than Brian Goodwin.
  15. Lol this should be an entertaining game.
  16. What would Cease have to do with a Tepera trade? Thinking Lambert was the return? If so, why was he starting yesterday at all? This stuff was out well before 7pm. Lopez makes more sense, and if Portillos actually knows anything (doubtful, but maybe if fed some little crumbs), he basically insinuated it was Tepera for Lopez.
  17. I don't think so. Leury joins the Engel/Goodwin/Sheets rotation in RF, but Engel is playing against LHP which is what Leury hits better. This move reduces Leurys play, not increases.
  18. Alright. I will let you remain outraged. The Sox got better and there wasn't exactly a plethora of options for big impact bats at 2B. The best options were all having terrible seasons.
  19. Nothing about this is a disaster man. Deep breaths. Escobar and Hernandez have quite literally been the same player this year, and one is a better defender. And that one isn't Escobar. I too would have preferred EE, but this is far from a disaster.
  20. 2B. And Hernandez becomes Leury next year, if the Sox want to keep him.
  21. I am not in love with this move either, but Hernandez is a superior player to Leury. Hernandez a lifetime 100 wRC+ hitter; Leury 77. Hernandez an above average defensive 2B. Leury is not. I would have preferred Escobar, but Hernandez has basically been the same player this year with better defense. Is it a sexy move? Absolutely not. But Pilkington is not exactly a focal point of our future and the team got better. Now go trade some 40 man stuff like Lambert, Lopez and Adolfo for some bullpen help.
  22. I'd be terrified to see what that would cost and how much it would handcuff any offseason moves since the dude makes a boatload of $. Until I see it, I just won't project a payroll north of $130M for this club. Paying 2 relievers $30M just seems like a bad way to enter next season. Kimbrel is good....but paying him that, plus trading a couple nice prospects for him (god forbid someone like Crochet). I wouldn't be a fan even though I know it makes the team better in 21.
