  1. Eloy is the primary DH next year. Vaughn is already a much better LF, and will continue to improve out there. They'll sign/trade for a RF. If the Sox run out an Eloy-Robert-Vaughn OF with any regularity next season (especially just to get Sheets in the DH spot), they're going to get exactly what they deserve. Which is dogshit OF defense and a likely injury to Eloy. Eloy needs to play some LF to keep him happy and so he can pretend in NL ballparks. But if hes the everyday LF next season, they Sox are fucking up.
  2. ReyLo pitched decent. Was surprised to see him not get optioned last night tho. He’s likely unavailable until the weekend. Guess Sox really want to see if they can make a reliever out of him.
  3. I am fairly convinced Billy hits the IL when the roster crunch arrives. That way Sox don’t lose him and as soon as he’s needed again, he’s there. He’s most definitely not 100% healthy anyway.
  4. ReyLo was decent. He at least deserves that praise!
  5. Why? He’s a quite useful pen piece as is. I’m nowhere near in support of how they’ve used Kopech this year, but the dudes been unhittable. Only way I want him throwing AAA innings is if they option him to get a year back. And that ship sailed in May.
  6. Yeah. I mean I just don’t think he’s there yet. But that process needs to start soon and this was certainly a natural spot.
  7. I don’t get it either. But Kopech would have been nothing more than an opener. 2 innings max. Not that Reylo is gonna go deeper.
  8. Kopech isn't stretched out at all. He's not really in a position to start a game right now. I guess you could run him out there for 2 innings as the beginning of the stretching him out process. But I don't really care that Kopech isn't starting today - the bullpen would have for sure had to cover 5 innings in the 2nd game, which ideally is something you want to avoid. What I do hate is TLR not using Kopech for 2 innings yesterday. Again, the dude needs to get stretched out and 10 pitch single innings aren't going to get his innings up. He's pitched 36 innings so far this season, and we need to see that number more than double in the next 10 weeks. And burning Liam in that game was just dumb. That all said, don't really get why ReyLo is one the getting the start. But I guess if Kopech isn't able to go 3-4 innings, Sox are not exactly flush with options. I get the now or never attitude with ReyLo, but he makes $2.1M this year. He's almost certainly getting non-tendered in December unless he provides a miraculous 2nd half out of the pen, which simply just isn't happening. So its a real head scratcher for sure.
  9. Agreed. I think the biggest issue with Moncada looking forward is he's no longer cheap after 21. He's well worth what he's going to get paid (plus some), but the days of getting monster value for a couple million are gone starting in 22 for Yoan. Certainly that is why he's not on the list in front of guys like Max Kepler. Yoan is a significantly better player, but Kepler is due much less moving forward.
  10. Yoan and Vaughn in the HM category as well. Dropped Yoan from #7 last year to HM is notable.
  11. That's fair. I certainly won't be disappointed if the Sox trade some spare parts for a stop gap RF like Marte. I just don't think its a necessity. I still think Escobar is a pretty easy move to make that should be done. Should cost very little, and frees Leury up to play a little more CF in the meantime (and stop the Goodwin madness there) and platoon with Engel in RF for the last 6 weeks or so once Luis comes back. Gallo isn't going to be cheap, and if Preller is involved, just bow out cause things just got more expensive.
  12. Is it perfect? No. Is this team (with Eloy, Robert and Yaz healthy) good enough to win in October with an Engel/Leury/Goodwin RF? Yes. I am not trading Crochet + 2 of Kelley/Dalquist/Thompson + perhaps more for 1.33 seasons of Joey Gallo. The Sox are built to be good for 5-7 seasons. We don't need to push our few remaining chips in now for a very good but flawed player in Gallo. Bottom line is this - if the Pads, or the Yanks want to Gallo - they're better trade partners for TEX than the Sox. Cuz the Sox aren't trading pieces off the MLB roster.
  13. I think these next couple months are huge for Conforto. But a 3/$45-50M isn’t out of the question if he continues to struggle. Absolutely would love buying low on him. He’s gonna make that team very happy. Now if he has a monster 2nd half like he’s capable of, he’s gonna tick up from $15-18M AAV. But dude looked like a $100M contract guy not too long ago, and he’s a perfect fit on this roster in RF for 22 and beyond.
  14. Let them have Gallo. He'd be nice and all, but I'd rather keep our prospects and spend Jerry's money on Conforto this offseason. Engel/Leury/Goodwin/Sheets can cover RF fine once Robert returns.
  15. I thought Jimmy insinuated it was Luke Schilling but perhaps I misread.
  16. Adolfo also leads the southern league in Homers, RBI (by a wide margin) and is top 5 in OPS.......so if he can't hit AA pitching....no one in that league can.
  17. Adolfo should be plenty for Arizona. They might prefer someone else, but they aren't getting anything exciting for 8-9 weeks of Escobar. Edit: if the rumored deal of Luke Schilling for Escobar was accurate (prior to injury), that gives you an idea of the type of return Escobar would requite.
  18. Yeah. Twins aren't punting 2022 and the FO thinks they can re-tool and be a contender in 22. Trading Buxton and/or Berrios wouldn't really jive with that thought.
  19. I think if the Sox could get Frazier for a package centered around Sheets, Frazier would already be in a Sox uni.
  20. As previously mentioned, the Twins are extremely unlikely to trade Buxton and/or Berrios. The impending FA will all be moved if possible.
  21. I know that isn’t the plan tho. He’s in this rotation next year. He has to be. Just sort of curious management of him all season. He’s not ready to throw 3-4 innings right now tho so im mostly indifferent about tomorrow’s start. But this 1 10 pitch inning BS needs to stop. He needs at LEAST 6-7 full blown regular season starts the rest of the way. Innings need to climb.
  22. This. Kopech needs to be stretched out immediately. I honestly am fine with him pitching today because I think 2 innings should be the max, but not letting him have this 9th is turrrrible.
  23. I’d start Kopech tomorrow too but he was at max throwing 2 innings. So I’m not gonna get too worked up about it.
