  1. FFS dude this isn't a video game. Defense matters. Moncada is an elite 3B. You don't fuck with that for Jake Burger. Stick Burger at 2B a few days a week....sure....and deal with just 1 poorly defended position and not 2. This hypothetical you continue to repeat is simply not something that is going to transpire under pretty much any circumstance.
  2. I feel like with Billy relegated to pinch run / late inning defense role because his noodle bat is even more worthless with a bad oblique, Goodwin has to stay. Unless they trade for Escobar next few days. Otherwise you're pretty much locking yourself into Leury in CF and Mendick at 2B everyday. it was pretty obvious Billy was not healthy in his AB yesterday. Still has a role on this team, but I don't think he can bat much at all right now.
  3. We are in no position to be turning our nose up at the return of Eaton. If he's healthy, he's more than serviceable and the Sox need all the serviceable OF they can get.
  4. Vaughn is not a finished product. He is a just turned 23-year old that hadn't had an at bat above A ball prior to this season. What he is now is not what he is going to be, and people pigeon-holing him into a platoon role now and into the future are comical. Hitting MLB pitching is extremely difficult, and he's learning. He's going to be a cornerstone of this offensive with Eloy, Luis, Yoan and Nick for the foreseeable future.
  5. I hope Moncada. If its Moncada, we're goin to be in good shape. But as of right now, I'd put my money on Yaz.
  6. Nah. Vaughn is going to play everyday - the only question is where. Likely in LF as he's a better LF than Eloy. Maybe they put him RF, maybe he shifts to 1B after 2022. Probably gets some DH at bats as well if they feel the need to put Eloy in the field some. But he's going to be an everyday player.
  7. They can't. And Twins ownership is every bit of stingy as Reinsdorf, and they will not eat anything to do it. I would love to see the Twins trade Berrios. That hurts them in 2022 and the chances whoever they acquire in that deal turns into as good a player as Berrios is at best a coinflip.
  8. Vaughn is not going to be a platoon player.
  9. That is how you retaliate when you’re a winning team.
  10. Probably both of us. But I’ve always been a big Grandal believer in this lineup.
  11. Good thing the Sox didn’t give up on him like half the board did! ??
  12. Hohum 2-4 with a double and rbi tonight. .964 OPS
  13. Something tells me this won’t be the last time Chick will need to be reminded.
  14. Donaldson is a douche and we don’t need our ace getting in parking lot brawls or any of our remaining good players injured by retaliatory inside fastballs. Everyone needs to move TF on, and that is precisely what the Sox will do. Make it hurt with another W and a 13.5 game lead.
  15. Too bad about Bummer. Great news about MK.
  16. I like Evan Marshall. But the 2021 version of him isn't really something the pen will miss. Hopefully this isn't a long term injury and we can see him back out there in a few weeks.
  17. He's not really in there for the bat . Unfortunately, in his career he's been a slightly less bad swinging the bat left handed as opposed to right. In any event, Billy's role should be exactly that of last night. Entering game in 7th or 8th inning for pinch running or defensive purposes, and HOPEFULLY, getting very few at bats.
  18. Well when you’ve graduated the kind of elite talent we have the past couple seasons, this was always bound to happen. Thankfully our core is mostly locked up and controlled long term. Sox remain in an excellent position moving forward despite the currently weak farm. Now we just need to avoid injuries to core multiple core players.
  19. If this year has shown us anything, it’s that these things sort themselves out.
  20. Burger just got named to the ASG Futures games. Not that that means much, but people are taking notice. I am not moving Moncada off 3B for him, and there are definitely trades I'd move Burger in. But I sure as shit am not moving him at this point for a guy like Escobar or some other stop gap measure. As part of a deal for a legit releiver with control? A Trevor Story type stop gap? A guy we can plug into RF next yeaar without hesitiation? Sure. But there are also plenty of at bats to go around on the mlb club right now. Yermin is likely dead so Burger can DH, he can cover 3B when Yoan stubs his toe leaving the club, and can maybe even cover 2B a time or two a week. While he hasn't done it in AAA, I bet Burger could grab an OF glove and be every bit as serviceable as Sheets looked last night. I'd get him up here.
  21. Guys - the Sox aren't moving Moncada off 3B for Jake Burger. Stop talking about it.
  22. For sure. I was just referring to needle moving trades. Rogers could maybe get a decent return. The rest of the stuff has very little trade value. I guess Cruz could maybe get a decent prospect.
