IMO, this move makes a lot more sense if a 2B or RF acquisition is imminent. Without it, we're an Engel hammy tweak away from being forced to play two 1st basemen in the OF everyday, or play Mendick everyday which clearly isn't the answer. Not that Eaton was solving much of anything, but he was a body that played good RF defense and hit from the left side. Two major team weaknesses, especially with the Yaz injury.

Nothing is a tad aggressive. He did give us Gio, and Lynn. As for his 2021, that's a fair assessment. I am not Eaton guy at this point, but with how thin we are in the OF right now and will continue to be for some time, I am surprised at the move. Could have just optioned Burger who doesn't appear to have a role on this team (as per how TLR is using him - not that I necessarily agree with it) except as a weak side platoon DH and pinch hitter.

This opens a 40 man spot right? Engel was just on 10-day, so it should.

Lol. Relax dude. Goodwin sucks balls at the OF. The eyes say it. The stats say it. Not sure why that seemingly offends you.

Throw me in the grouping that is scratching their head as to why Burger can't break into this lineup. If you're going full scortched earth (not by choice - obviously - but still), may as well just throw Burger at 2B and Leury in CF. Goodwin is awful at CF and may have cost us the game yesterday.

4-6 weeks doesn’t sound like a season ender and is about as good of news as we could have expected.

To be fair, this is now the third dude who couldn't get hurt, to get hurt. But yes, just terrible if this is a loan term thing.

Do you watch Collins catch? Do you see the number of times each game he catches a pitch that is easily in the K zone but due to the way Collins catches it, it is called a ball? This is not same fan vendetta against Collins. It is quite obvious when watching the games. If the pitcher misses their spot, he jabs at the ball rendering a strike call very unlikely as he pushes the ball away from the zone with his glove.

I mean, Collins can't really catch the guys with nasty stuff. He loses a ton of strike calls. I think the heat is mostly warranted. He has improved a ton as a catcher, but still is a pretty poor framer/receiver.

Didn't Jake Burger snap his achilles walking in his backyard? Point remains for sure, but I wouldn't rule anything serious out. Grandal is a tough dude and as you said he was in an incredible amount of pain.

For sure. I get the logic. Robert just adds so much to this team in every aspect. L And obviously Engel hasn’t been healthy either. But yeah, they’re both extremely difficult players to replace.

Yoan has done a pretty decent job staying on the field. That said, he rarely goes a week without pulling up lame or looking like he seriously injured himself. I think that is just who he is, and that connotation is going to follow him because of it.

My weather app still says 80-90% chance of rain from the 7-9pm window. Looks slightly better for the next 5 or so hours than it did last night, but I still think its going to be tough to get this one in. That said, I am no meteorologist!

Hoping for good news. I was at the game and it and didn't look good. Watched the highlight last night and looked even worse. At the game looked like his thigh or upper leg - the replay looked much more like an achilles injury. This team can probably get by without Grandal for 6 weeks or so. BUt if this is a season-ender, WOOF. Despite being hated by a good chunk of (clueless) Sox fans, Grandal is a HUGE part of this team and would be the 4th devastating blow we've encountered. At some point, it just becomes too much to weather. Thankfully, Eloy and Luis should (god willing) help fill some of the offensive gap. But we're at least 6 weeks away from that. Collins has definitely improved as a catcher, but he is not an everyday guy. Zavala certainly isn't the answer. Going to need to find something in the trade market if Grandal's season is over. Welp.

Highly unlikely this game is played today. 80%+ chance of rain tonight in Minneapolis. Hope it holds off so I can grab some cheap seats last minute, but doubtful.
