Giolito has thoughts about Donaldsons comments

Outside of Berrios, they don't exactly have a ton of super exciting assets nearing FA. I guess Polanco and Kepler would have some value due to their contracts, but they've both been trash this year and are controlled for awhile. Doubt Twins would move them when their value is at its lowest. Sano? Borderline worthless at this point. Maeda? He's been terrible, they're not going to sell low. I guess they could get what they can for Buxton right now which I am sure would be a pretty penny, but that would be awfully surprising. The Twins are really caught in between right now, and its a thing of beauty. -

Dumb. Good way to get TA hurt. Trust me, I'd like to see Donaldson take a 99 MPH fastball somewhere it hurts a few days. But there is just no upside for the Sox. We're in 1st place and already dinged up to no end. We don't need to get into a bean ball contest with a team 12.5 GB and nothing to lose. The last thing we need is TA, Jose, Grandal etc. getting one to the hands. -

He should write him a note like he did Rocco when Yermin swung 3-0. -
So Burger had a night tonight. 4-4 with a Homer and 2 walks. Up to .317 on the season.
-
He’s paid what he’s worth. That generally the way FA works.
-
Yeah, I didn't mean literally immediate following ASG. I would guess a week to 10 days sounds about right. I think he'll be doing a lot of DHing so I don't think they'll wait much longer than that.
-
Yep. Remains rather remarkable the Sox are where they are, last 10 days or so be damned. Just need to play .500 or so ball until the ASG and buy another couple weeks of Robert/Eloy recovery.
-
Back following the ASG would be just tremendous.
-
Makes sense. Chick will be happy! Guy sucks anyway.

To be fair, Moncada is always tweaked somewhere. But yeah, I guess. Would rather give Abreu a breather - Moncada just sat out for a few days not too long ago. BUt if he needs another day, he needs another day.
-
But why? He has a day off yesterday.
-
He unfortunately has been somewhat forgettable lately.
-
I don't think Vaughn will be sitting or Hamilton starting against RHP.
-
He's actually only for sure controlled for 2022, and then has that vesting option in 2023. I haven't reviewed the option recently, but I recall there being some uncertainty as to whether Kuechel needed to throw 160 innings in each 21 and 22, or combined. If the former, there is definitely a chance he's gone after 2022. If the latter, he's highly likely to be here in 23.
-
He is, in fact, a rock solid starter. What he was done in comparison to the other Sox starters is pretty much irrelevant. As is his 1 playoff start in a Sox uni. I provided you the state - Dallas has been more than adequate as a ChiSox. You just don't like his stuff, which is what it is. He isn't a hard thrower and hasn't been for some time. If Keuchel is a teams 5th starter, you're doing quite well.

This is like the third time i've entered this thread and saw this post and groaned to myself about another PPD.

Sheets up, Hamilton back, Lamb to IL, Gonzalez down

I saw him come up a bit lame legging out a catch in foul territory in LF in the 9th on Sunday. He stayed in game but could see that it bit him. Well here it is... -
Lol, alright man. Keep living in fantasy world. The Sox didn't sign Keuchel to be a fire throwing ace. Keuchel is 12-4 with a 3.13 ERA and 3.71 FIP with the Sox. What exactly are you looking for? He's fine and FAR from this clubs problem. He has no trade value because he's paid what he's worth. The Sox are not in a position to give away a rock solid mid rotation starter for nothing, to turn around and pay market value for an enormous injury risk in Rodon. Rodon has never thrown over 165 innings in his career. He is on pace to surpass that this year if he remains healthy. He's pitched 69 or less innings the 3 of the last 4 seasons. The mileage on Rodon's arm after 2021 is going to be something he hasn't experienced in since 2016. Not something I would bet on holding up all that well for him. I like Carlos and wish him well. I am absolutely stoked for him that he's figured things out. He is our ace right now. But I don't want my team to be paying him $15M a year to sit on the IL the next few seasons.
-
Yeah, forgot the sox have been playing a man short on the bench.
-
Lol, Keuchel is signed. Rodon and Lynn are FAs. I love how you're penciling in 2 dudes that are FA, but removing the guy signed for 22 (and likely 2023). Of course I want Lynn. So will 29 other clubs. He seems to like it here so maybe the Sox can get him to re-sign, but its far from a certainty. Hence the "maybe I could see Lynn resigning" comment. Rodon is gone after 2021 man. At minimum, he's getting something like 3/$45M due to his history. The Sox should not the high bidders on this one as its extremely likely to not turn out well. And they know that. Ride him hard in 2021, and let him get paid and injured with someone else.
-
Who are these key players rapidly appraoching FA? The Sox core is mostly locked up. Sure, losing 2021 version of Rodon sucks, and Lynn too. But the Sox have a pretty damn good replacement in Kopech to step in for 1 of them, and they're going to have to sign a FA SP. No matter how much you try to talk the Sox ripping this core apart into reality to make yourself feel better or something, its not happening.
