  1. Moncada simply is not tradable. Dude is owed $29M in 2024. Sox would have to eat $20M+. There is no way that is happening, and even if you want to pretend JR would allow it, nothing would make me more sick than paying Yoan $20M to play 140 games and put up a 4 WAR season elsewhere next season. I bet Benintendi is movable if Sox kicked in ~$6M to pro-rate his next 4 seasons down to $15M per. Benintendi has more or less been the same player he's been 2019-2022 this season. I don't think Sox will trade him, but none of the Sox OFs are "bad contracts" IMO. Eloy might not return you a ton, but he's absolutely moveable (if you want to consider him an OF).
  2. Biggest thing for me - I am just ready for some new blood. This team so badly needs an attitude reset. I was hopeful that Pedro would the guy that could flip that script, but honestly - he's just not. I obviously don't know what he's like in the clubhouse behind closed doors, but in his interviews he seems like just about the biggest push over possible. Guy is way too nice. Its such a sad state of affairs. Amazing the Sox just absolutely squandered this window.
  3. Think you gotta flip Anderson and Clevinger. Clevinger is highly unlikely to be on the Sox next year (mutual options almost never get picked up by both sides). I see no reason why you wouldn't trade him if you can a) get something interesting; or b) dump all his $ including the buy-out if you'll actually deploy those dollars towards the 2024 roster. There is just no point in trading TA right now - you're probably not getting anything interesting. Sox are so much better off letting him bounce back next season and then moving him when Montgomery is actually ready to take over next summer. TA will figure it out next season IMO - impending FA and the man wants to get paid. Lynn has become interesting. I doubt he pitches well enough to make that $18M option next season something the Sox will deeply consider. But they're so short on SP that if he has a really good 2nd half, they actually might. I think Lynn will actually be in demand the next few weeks, and you might be able to get a good prospect, especially if JR eats like $5M (keep dreamin', right?). The rest are spot on, though Moncada is more in the untradeable albatross territory at $29M due in 2024 as opposed to a core "build around" piece. I'd probably add Graveman into the "trade if you can get a good return" category as well. Have to imagine every contending club would have some interest. I'd also trade Gregory Santos if they can turn him into an MLB ready SP prospect of note.
  4. I laughed - not because its funny - because it is so pathetically true.
  5. Just pitiful extra innings execution from this group. I'd honestly feel more confident with the bottom of the lineup coming up in the extras cause they can lay down a bunt. Robert and Eloy almost certainly would pop up a bunt if they tried, and seems they strike out, ground out to left side or pop out 95% of the time in those situations.
  6. He's already progressed to AAA in rehab and is scheduled to pitch today. He'll be back well before August. That thing is about as worthless as Merkin's "reporting"
  7. Crochet. Tho he'll be back soon.

Because the minors also have an ASG break...

Per Grifol, if it wasn't for the ASG, Yoan would be rehabbing next week. Expects him back a week or so after the break. FWIW.
  10. I completely agree. I'd want multiple blue chip top prospects + a few additional top 100s. Only like 1 or 2 teams could even put a prospect package together than begins to make sense for the Sox. And, like I said, he'll still be worth a boatload in 2 years. He's past the point of diminishing returns. He'll probably get injured sometime in the next 4.5 years, but unless he gets seriously injured I don't think its really going to matter since they control him so long.
  11. You just can't trade Robert right now. You could get the same return for him 2-2.5 years as you could right now.
  12. Eh. If he's back in the minimum he'll still have 10 days to make a few appearances. I do think someone will bet on that arm and the extra control if its not a serious injury.
  13. The bullpen management has been terrible.
  14. Not trading Middleton would be insane. He's a FA in 3 months. He's paid nothing. He's been really good. I imagine lots of clubs would be interested. If you can turn him into a SP prospect (won't be a super higher end one, obviously), you absolutely have to do it.
  15. AV's bat has been OK, but for a guy that offers literally nothing other than the bat at a premium offensive position, you need him to be much better than an 11% above average hitter. He's been pretty disappointing.
  16. I think Sox could get a decent piece for Middleton. He's paid league minimum. I imagine every contending club would be interested, especially the cheap ones.
  17. Bummer and Graveman should have value. Middleton too. Kelly might have a little value left, but his last few weeks probably zapped a good chunk of it.
  18. Ehhh. SP is in such demand that if he comes back and has a couple solid starts, someone would take him off the Sox hands. Wouldn't return much but a lottery ticket and some salary relief, tho.

Sox aren’t eating Moncadas salary to move him. He is on the 2024 roster.

    $29M, with the buyout
  21. Seems like an interesting call for a guy who is prone to extended streaks of futility at the plate, but it’ll be fun to watch.
  22. Yeah, 9-11 wins feels about right. Still should make their deadline plans plenty clear with a .500ish month.
  23. 6-15? They play 2 series with teams above .500 in July.
  24. I didn’t realize Frazier still had an option.
  25. There was a contingent of Sox fans that wanted to non tender Gio. I certainly was not one of those bafoons, but of course there is a reason not to hand him $120M+. The reality of the situation is the Sox are incredibly unlikely to be the high bidders on Gio. This FA SP class is weak; Gio is likely 2nd or third best available. Sox aren’t winning that bidding. Let the bidding begin now and turn Gio into 6.5 years of control of an MLB ready top 100 SP prospect that can step right into rotation.
