  1. Yeah, he got absolutely shelled and then optioned. IIRC, they brought him in with bases juiced and then proceeded to walk 2 of the next 3 guys.
  2. Probably just saving it for Clevinger tomorrow. But yah, would be playing short today.
  3. You sure went from Gio isn't returning anything of note to Quero is protected prospect in a hurry.
  4. Sox recall Sammy Peralta. No word on the other move, which is sorta strange.
  5. And what if Giolito didn't want to sign an extension and would rather bet on himself in FA, and then he walks for nothing but a 3rd round comp pick? Based on the Sox record and Giolito's contract status, retaining him would have been absolutely insane. You can say 'well, we should have extended him" all you want, but they didn't so its a rather moot point.
  6. Solid deal. Can’t complain aboit getting one of the best catching prospects in the game for like 10 Gio starts. Bush for ReyLo seems fine; arguably LAAs best pitching prospect. Nice deal on paper, and not even prospects that are mlb ready. A few Soxtalk narratives squashed with this deal!
  7. One of the more insane takes this place has ever had. A true gem
  8. Downgrading defense at two positions has never made much sense to me, but I am more open than I ever have been to moving Yoan around. Mainly just because there is really nowhere else to play Burger with Eloy and AV on this roster, and they should all play when they're healthy enough to.
  9. It’s been widely reported that the Sox were the high bidder on Wheeler and his wife preferred the east coast. Doing nothing because you’re scared to lose a trade is 1000000x worse. But alright
  10. Got it. Can't argue with that. Read your comment more as take the best offer you get between now and his next scheduled start. Wouldn't be opposed to skipping him.
  11. The Sox have the same chance to have Giolito on the 2024 roster whether they trade him in the next week or make the awful decision to retain him for the next 2 months. It makes no difference at all. Giolito - like 99% of the all FAs - will sign with whoever offers the most money. It is super duper highly unlikely that is the White Sox. All things being equal, of course we'd rather have Giolito on the 2024 than not considering the state of the Sox SP staff. But you absolutely take what you can get for him now, which honestly, is probably someone that will be on that 2024 SP staff.
  12. I said its better to trade him before the next start, but you don't take a lesser offer than you think you can get a few days later due a remote chance he gets hurt. Hopefully they get their ask met in the next few days and its a non issue.
  13. Ehh there’s plenty of ways he pitches for the Sox again. I’d certainly prefer to move him before his next start purely to avoid an injury, but if the Sox don’t get the offers they like, they should take it down to deadline day. This conversation sort of reminds me of conference tournaments in college hoops. Everyone is like my team needs to X, Y, Z to get into the dance or get this seed when it reality it has no impact. Short of an injury, Gios trade value isn’t changing by his performance next start, last start, or the start before.
  14. Also true. Hoping Sox can bring back an MLB ready SP prospect for Gio, and hoping a fringy guy for one of the others and just rock a Cease, Kopech, Touki, TRADE 1, TRADE 2 rotation with some Scholtens and Banks mixed in. Really no point in throwing Clevinger anymore.
  15. Last I heard on Clevinger was he threw 3 or 4 up and downs on Saturday (perhaps Friday?), and would throw 60 pitches his next time out but was undetermined where that would be (presumably either AAA, Chicago or another sim game). Have to wonder if they try to just do it in Chicago to show other teams he is healthy in hopes someone just takes his off their hands (unlikely). Thursday and Friday still reflect TBD starters.
  16. Trade Giolito, Lynn, Kelly, Lopez, Middleton and Yaz to the highest bidders the next week. Fire the entire front office this offseason. Hire completely un-White Sox related individuals. Let them decide if Pedro deserves another chance, and let them try to reshape the roster for 2024. That's about the only way forward. The 2nd line is never happening though - even if they fire Hahn (I will believe it when I see it), its going to be the same dudes running this mess until JR moves on.
  17. Hope Kelly gets a couple solid outings in and he’a moved at the deadline
  18. I will be there. My four month olds first Sox game. Hope we bring home a W!
  19. Id say the Padres are more embarrassing than the Sox, too.
  20. Correct. I said likely. Most twins folks think he’ll be activated this weekend (scheduled to start in AAA on Sat), but they could stick him in the pen I suppose.
  21. Keuchel is very likely to get a start this weekend.
  22. Pedro's bullpen management is simply awful.
  23. I welcome you to research all deals in MLB at $75M or over and show how many turned out well for the team. Spoiler alert: its a clear minority. Ie: that's just how free agency works.
  24. And if you pro-rate that 2020 salary to the $6.75M he actually got paid, he was paid $25M to produce 5.2fWAR over the first 2 years of his deal, which worth about $45-50M. So he was a honestly a bargain the first two seasons, but the last two have been rough. But that's just free agency. Tough to b**** about the Sox not spending money, and then b**** when they do and you still have to pay guys after their prime. Its just how it works. (not directed at you, btw)
