  1. Bolded tally to 34. Think the non-bolded in the final group are easy cuts. Sox may elect to hold onto Peralta and Perez, but I'd say those are most likely cuts from the bubble group. Worth noting that all of Touki, Deivi Garcia, Luis Patino and Jimmy Lambert are out of options or will be next season. Obviously all of them aren't making the 2024 OD roster, though I think Touki has at least earned a roster spot to start the season, imo.
  2. Lucas might be getting waived again. WOOF. Dude has cost himself some serious coin the last 6 weeks.
  3. Losing is way better than winning at this point, but wow, they sure are looking bad while doing it. Not sure I’ve been this disinterested in the Sox in my lifetime. Blows
  4. This. If healthy, and that’s an enormous if, I think he has a solid 2024. Also think there’s a decent chance the org is just done with him and do what is necessary to move him, which is probably eat $20M or so including the buyout.
  5. Seby sucks but controllable thru 27. I’d have just cut Yaz and figured it out later.
  6. One thing of note, in his media availability JR said unequivocally "Going forward, Tony LaRussa has no decision making authority in this organization." Worth mentioning.
  7. Because he is an impending FA and these games don't matter. Literally zero reason to claim him.
  8. SUper Joe has been gone for a year.
  9. Is there a video to this pre-press confernce chat he had with reporters? Doubt it, but I'd love to see it.
  10. When’s the presser?
  11. Same. I hate Cleveland slightly less than the Twins. Would love to see the Twins choke this division away. Losing the last 2 took them from basically ending the Indians season to adding some real intrigue. Cleveland probably doesn’t make those claims 7 GB.
  12. Grandal almost certainly is on waivers too. These aren’t fully public.
  13. He'd need to get more than $8M on the open market, not $4M. I think there is a small chance both sides pick it up. Clevinger locks in $8M in extra dollars for 2024 and gets another year of the passage of time away from his DV allegations. That at least has to be part of the calculus here, there are definitely teams that won't touch him with a 10 foot pole, we just don't know how many. If he goes unclaimed today, I think that is at least some indication teams don't want his baggage, though obviously the price tag is significant with the buyout as well. There is at least some intrigue there, imo.
  14. These games don’t mean anything. Sox are better off losing than winning in 2023 at this point.
  15. Nah, they just stay on their team. They can of course get DFAd or released in a separate transaction but these waivers don’t mean that the player is for sure gone if no other team puts in a claim.
  16. Pretty sure this is wrong. If either side opt out, Sox (or whomever acquires him) owes Clevinger $4M buyout.
  17. No. It just becomes a 1 year $12M deal if both sides agree to it. No buyout in that scenario.
  18. I have no idea why anyone would actually suggest claiming anyone that is an impending FA makes a sliver of sense for this Sox.
  19. Will be very interesting. Would cost the acquiring team like $5.5M with the buyout. That’s a good bit for like 8 starts.
  20. Huh? Yoan should be motivated in 2024, because his 2025 option is exceptionally unlikely to get picked up up, and therefore will be playing for his next contract with a different team. If Yoan turns in another pitiful season next year, he’s looking at a 1 year deal for a couple million tops. Hence motivation shouldn’t be an issue if he actually wants to continue to play Major league baseball.
  21. He would be playing for a new contract though, because there is a damn near 0% chance that 2025 option gets picked up,
  22. This. At least he’s a good third baseman and maybe he’s actually healthy next season and ends up worth more than half of what he gets paid.
  23. I've been a bit checked out last day or so. Has there been any clear indication whether TLR is actually legitimately involved in decision making here, or is this is as simple as JR answered a phone from his old buddy TLR and some writers running with it? Seems like the reporting I have seen on it is all over the place.
  24. I meant the Sox are waiting to cut Yaz until Seby is back rather than going with Lee + Perez in the meantime. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Sox option Lee back when Seby is ready, tho.
