  1. Hard to really complain too much about $1.75M.
  2. Lopez is almost certainly going to be on the MLB roster. Shewmake will be in Charlotte. Remillard probably doesn’t survive the offseason on the 40 man.
  3. No, absolutely do not do that.
  4. Shewmake has multiple options. So does Lopez, actually.
  5. I get that, but on the other hand, Dejong and Lopez suck so much that if Sosa or JRod show any pulse in AAA, they'll have spots readily available. Its not like DFAing DeJong and moving Lopez to a bench role is beyond the realm of possibility. I don't mind not just handing Sosa / Jrod the jobs. That said, this is all so disheartening.
  6. He is actually owed $16.83M including the buyout on the 25 option, which frankly is only rejected if he's seriously hurt. 2025 and 2026 are options. Eloy has also never been a 0 fWAR player - more like 2 fWAR per 162 GP, with his early years heavily weighted down with god awful OF defense. Of course he's never going to play 162. Point is, he's never been a "0 WAR DH".
  7. Guessing this is tongue in check, but let's be honest - this scenario is always possible with the Sox! A 1.5 fWAR 2B that can play some OF doesn't sound all bad to me, though.
  8. Honestly, I am fine with Merrifield if its $7-10M AAV and short term. He's really not that good any more, but he's still a useful big leaguer. He at least fills a need and plays the game hard.
  9. Baltimore is the best fit, and perhaps landing two rotation options in Soroka and Schuster make a position player heavy return on Cease more likely. Prior to that deal, Sox almost would have HAD to take back pitching in a Cease trade. Have slightly more flexibility on that now. O's just don't have any SP to trade.
  10. 2 months of a struggling Giolito returned a backend top 100 prospect. The logic that Cease returns a similar headliner is just having blinders on.
  11. Precisely why Dylan Cease is worth a boatload. Lance Lynn just got $11M guaranteed after posting a 6 ERA. But sure, Cease will just get 1 back end top 100 guy. lolz
  12. It all depends on the offers, but if no one is willing to give you anything notable for Eloy, you may as well just hold and hope he has a monster first half and then you can trade him. Its a fair question to ask if he'll ever stay healthy, but I'd rather bet on that than a couple 40 FV prospects.
  13. I think Sox need a better headliner than that. That’d be pretty disappointing for 2 cheap years of Cease unless there was another solid piece in there. Colas was a backend top 100 prospect a year ago and most of this fanbase is ready to be done with him.
  14. I think Cease would smash $80-100M on the open market if he were a FA.
  15. You’re really bad at player valuations.
  16. All these guys except Soroka have multiple options too, which is nice.
  17. Interesting. Sox fans will focus on Lopez though they obviously shouldn’t.
  18. Josh Staumont is a Royal I’d actually like to see the Sox take a flyer on.
  19. One would also think the O’s bowing out of the playoffs quickly after a fantastic season might make them hug those prospects a little less tight. I think they’re far and away the best fit for Cease.
  20. I think Matt Foster is the only real non-tender candidate. He'll be just a bit over league min, so depending on how his rehab is progressing, Sox aren't really in a position to be punting off potential relievers. Sox also in not really in a position to non-tender Touki, and I think he earned another look.
  21. Guess he didn't accept his "reassignment" with the Sox.
  22. A lot can change in four years, especially in a division where no team is in a particularly great position looking forward. You think Dbacks fans thought they'd be playing in the World series coming of 52 and 74 win seasons? As others have said, the control the Sox have on Robert is past the point of diminishing returns. You aren't getting full value back. In the event someone puts together a crazy offer that makes sense, then you pull the trigger. But just moving him to the highest bidder this offseason doesn't make a ton of sense.
