  1. Is it weird that I want the Sox to hire Tommy Pham to their FO when he’s done playing? Can’t be more useless than Thome.
  2. When the Sox rebuilt in 2016, KW/RH never oversaw any major organizational changes. In his short time as GM, Getz has hired a pitching czar, is overhauling the international side of things, cleaned out the pro scouts, and is on record to be looking for a hitting equivalent of Bannister as well. Hahn did talk about looking outside the org but never did it, or at least brought anyone in. And he never made any serious changes within the org in terms of how they do things. Again, if you don’t like the moves he’s made that’s fine but Getz is bringing in a lot of new people into the fold. This doesn’t feel like the Sox of old, he’s firing a lot of them. I do wish we heard something about them building out their analytics department though.
  3. They didn’t tear it down to studs like they are now in 2016. And they did nothing to address any of the shortcomings of the organization, or bring in any outsiders. Reading this article, it seems like that’s different this time, so there’s reason for optimism. Will it work? I don’t know but it’s certainly different.
  4. Attaching Benintendi to Crochet is a dumb idea. It would make the return worse
  5. Which is something they should do if he's the guy but I'm hoping the conduct a search and interview a bunch of people even if they end up with Schumacher
  6. I doubt Schumacher will be high on the Sox, he’ll probably want to go to a team that’s closer to winning, and whose window is open now. The Sox have another building season or two before they can seriously think about being competitive on any level. They should definitely go after a young manager who has ample experience in player development.
  7. Caleb was definitely played out by the D/ST but that game showed all the reasons why I wasn't high on him coming out of USC. Hopefully he plays better going forward but he was Bryce Young bad today.
  8. It's been over 24 years and that ND game has to be the worst loss in school history, at least since I've been a fan and watching (2004). I was beside myself angry after that game, I try not to let my fandom bleed over into my real life but apparently, I was absolutely no fun to be around at a friend's party last night lol. I think I might've turned off some girl I've been talking to lol... The only coach I don't hold responsible is the D coordinator but did Freeman, the OC, and players not take NIU seriously? The game also exposed ND's short comings at QB and WR, they struggled to recruit impact players at those positions for years, the NIU QB and WR's easily outplayed them. You can't be an elite program when your skill players are being outplayed by their MAC counterparts. I also don't get why they abandoned the running game down the stretch. Their season is over. Very disappointing when you consider all the moves they made and all the hype after the A&M game.
  9. Young players struggling and/or having mixed results during their first big league season? That has never happened before. And why are people so concerned about the bullpen of a team that was designed to lose 100+ games? It doesn’t matter and it doesn’t say anything positive or negative about the future of the team.
  10. Found the video I was thinking about: https://www.mlb.com/video/scouting-the-future-c2114427483 But at Sox fest one year, they said that they hired more manpower in the scouting ranks as teams were moving away from in person scouting. And of course in 2020, everyone was just about laid off.
  11. I could care less about the win loss record of a rebuilding team, it's meaningless. I feel a lot better about the state of the team now, than I did this time last year.
  12. Before the pandemic, I think they had the most in MLB, if not one of the larger departments. I remember they made a video about it.
  13. Josh Barfield, Paul Janish and Brian Bannister aren't from KC. The new manager won't be from KC either. Yeah, he made a couple hires from there, a scout and a contract expert but guess what, everyone hires people they've worked with before when they get hiring powers. I get to start a new project, I'm staffing it with people I worked with before. Common practice. And every rebuilding team fills their roster with placeholders and veteran retreads. Why is everyone so stupid all of a sudden? The Sox just went through this not that long ago after 2016. People are mad that the Sox are horrible, but they were terrible last year and were always going to be worse this year, especially after the deadline. Was Getz hired under the right circumstances? No. Did he do anything obvious in his post as head of PD to earn his job? No? But he got the job and there nothing we can do about it. It seems like a lot of people in the fandom are just choosing to be miserable. I'm going to wait and see how he does in the job.
  14. I feel a much, much better about the team today, than I did a year ago.
  15. He’s not the scouting director and wasn’t GM when he was drafted
  16. I’ll bite, what made Getz offseason so horrible?
  17. Platooning Vargas makes no sense. Play him everyday, keep throwing him out there.
  18. I’m a big fan of McDougal. I wonder how closely he’s worked with Bannister. He K’s a lot of guys but walks almost 6 per 9. Maybe an adjustment can be made, at least he could be a crazy arm out of the pen.
  19. You might want to stop being a fan for the next few years
  20. I can’t wait to see this thread next year at this time because the Sox will probably lose 100+ games again. Which I’m more than fine with.
