Don’t know where else to put this but the Sox offense is better than last year’s team when it comes to launch angle (2024: 12th/2023: 29th), walk rate (2024: 28th/2023: 30th) and ground ball rate (2024: 12th/2023: 29th).
I don’t know if it’s coaching or the types of players they brought in but it’s encouraging.
If you draft Cags, let him be a two way guy and he gets TJ, the bat may not be the same once he returns. At the very least, you lose at least a year of development. If the bat is as special as people say it is, it’s not worth the risk.
To be fair, Getz never said any of that. That was all Jerry. I think it’s smart that Getz didn’t put a timeline on the team, it’s too early to do so. Why give someone rope to hang you with if you don’t have to.
I think you're caring too much about the bullpen of a team that is designed to lose 100+ games.
Yeah the bullpen got worse this year, I think it may have something to do with Curt Hasler not being there but this is a team who is designed to lose 100+ games, so it doesn't matter.
I dont get this, it's undeniably the best thing the organization can do for its self. Moving him and getting a big haul could set the team up for a long time.
I’d say they’ve been pretty good about manipulating their bonus pools. They’ve also shown a willingness to spend over the bonus pools on multiple occasions, to the fullest extend without incurring a penalty
It might be a medical reason, the TJ he had in high school scares me and college teams aren’t known for doing what’s best for their pitchers with their high pitch counts.
He could be in his decline by the time the Sox are good next. I think they’ll draft one of the two high school bats in the draft, which tells you that this is a potentially long rebuild. They should trade present assets for future ones. The package you mentioned would be good for the Sox.
If that was in reference to Velasquez, he's not a C anymore. The Guardians did the smart thing and immediately moved him to 1B once they saw how special the bat can be.
Teams always overpay for pitching, especially at the trade deadline. If he keeps this up, they can get a pretty good prospect for him. I’m curious if they’ll move him soon for a prospect and an additional draft pick.
