  1. He could be in his decline by the time the Sox are good next. I think they’ll draft one of the two high school bats in the draft, which tells you that this is a potentially long rebuild. They should trade present assets for future ones. The package you mentioned would be good for the Sox.
  2. If that was in reference to Velasquez, he's not a C anymore. The Guardians did the smart thing and immediately moved him to 1B once they saw how special the bat can be.
  3. Ralphy Velasquez from Cleveland would be a very nice get
  4. Teams always overpay for pitching, especially at the trade deadline. If he keeps this up, they can get a pretty good prospect for him. I’m curious if they’ll move him soon for a prospect and an additional draft pick.
  5. They should just leave him at 1B if he's the pick, don't want another Andrew Vaughn outcome
  6. HOMETOWN: Minooka, IL HEIGHT: 6-0 WEIGHT: 200 BAT/THROW: R-R COLLEGE COMMITMENT: Eastern Illinois George is a powder-keg built outfielder with tons of strength in his lower half and physicality in his upper-body and arms. He sinks into his legs and anchors his back-side at the plate in an effort to use ground force to create power. While he can at times drift into his front-side a bit early, overall there's very little wasted movement in his swings with hands that stay tight to the body and short through the ball especially on pitches down the middle or on the middle third. He can get a bit more disconnected on pitchers on the outer black, but has shown a nice ability to battle into longer counts. Continuing to improve his timing and triggers in the box should unlock a more consistent hit tool as he climbs the ladder and sees more advanced pitching. There's a little Evan Gattis in the operation, albeit in a much different athletic form factor. George is a tremendous athlete who posts plus to sometimes double-plus run times and tends to show off the burners in the field. His exceptionally strong frame creates an aggressive, violent running style that could force the run tool into a more comfortably graded above average to plus tool at the next level. While his route running and reads have steadily improved year over year, scouts consider the glove mostly average right now with a chance to trend up as time and reps increase. He's extremely young for the class; just 18.1 on draft day. From Joe Doyle
  7. Crochet might be the only guy on the team who could realistically be on the next good Sox team.
  8. The Sox love to draft local in-state guys, so he has to be on their radar and they have to be interested
  9. The fact that Korey Lee isn’t the de facto everyday catcher is ridiculous malpractice. I’d even argue it’s a fireable offense for Grifol. By trotting Maldonado out there, he’s not putting the best team on the field.
  10. Now, don’t sign anyone with a career walk rate under 8%
  11. The fifth pick is worth $7,763,700. Think one of them signs for $7.0M or $6.5M?
  12. This is the way
  13. California doesn’t need another team. Put one in Montreal, Portland or Salt Lake City. And while you’re at it, bring back the Sonics.
  14. I didn’t know Quero’s GB rate was above 50%. I think he can be a good player for the Sox but that has to change for him to be an impact player.
  15. I wonder if his struggles to begin the year were due to him trying to tap into his power more.
  16. I watched the Dash game last night to see Schultz and I was struck by how bad fundamentally the team is. Missing the cut off man, sloppy infield play, it was bad baseball. I know it’s the minors, A ball specifically, and mainly of these guys who sniff the majors but that’s not excuse to be fundamentally sound. It’s not hard to see why the Sox have struggled.
  17. It’s amazing how many of the top 25 prospects are all struggling right now.
  18. Im a bit spooked at the moment with guys who've had the TJ already and it seems like he had his early in his high school career.
  19. There were a lot of people on this forum who clamored for Hahn to resign Abreu to a huge contract. I’m glad that he didn’t, he avoided a disaster. Not resigning Abreu is one of Hahn’s better moves as GM
  20. In order my top 5 for the Sox go: Rainer Griffin Cags Burns Montgomery
  21. 2026, but 2027 more likely.
  22. You were probably surprised by the game I take it.
  23. I’m hoping the Sox place Crochet on the IL after every few starts to preserve his arm, so he can last the whole season. The Dodgers would do this to lessen the load on their young arms and often injured pitchers like Kershaw/May. The Sox have acquired so much pitching depth since last season’s trade deadline that they can easily pluck someone from the 40 man to replace Crochet for a start or two.
  24. Grossman is much much needed on this team/org because he walks like 15% of the time (league average is around 7.5%). The Sox needs more guys who see a lot of pitches and take their walks. Grossman is a welcome addition
