  1. I was all for Abrams back then. The Sox desperately need athletes and up the middle guys in their system. That was true then, it’s true now.
  2. Ever since Courtney Hawkins they have kinda neglected OFers in the draft. Which is a huge reason why RF has continued to be a long term black hole for them.
  3. I don’t know about that since that was a mid round pick. The Sox had the fourth and third overall picks in both 2018 and 2019 respectively, and they bombed both picks. Missing on the 15th overall pick is more understandable.
  4. I just don’t think Vaughn is very good but I do agree with this and I’ve been saying it for some time, the 2018 and the 2019 drafts are a big reason why the Sox are in the position they find themselves in now.
  5. I’m sure the Angels bad track record of drafting and signing pitchers didn’t help, not a lot of quality arms in the system but I’m sure that this was approved by Brian Bannister, which is good enough for me. Plus it’s an external hire.
  6. https://youtu.be/hfwzqnhlpKo?si=HwzB4ZX-zVjosqsB I hope this guy falls to the Sox. Yes, it’s not a premium position guy but he can do three premium things. He can hit, he can get on base and he can hit the ball out of the park with regularity.
  7. I really hope the Sox take a page from the Cubs and focus on defense and game calling when it comes to the catching position going forward. The Cubs signed both Yan Gomes and Tucker Barnhart for a very good defensive catching platoon. This method is a good way to help develop young pitchers. It’s cost friendly as I don’t think a team should spend big money on C’s unless it’s a superstar type player (Posey, Realmuto) or a home grown star (Sal Perez). I think it’s also a good way to steal wins as it also helps a team’s defense. With that being I hope the Sox sign Victor Caratini and Austin Hedges.
  8. I doubt they will but championships make teams do stupid things. Look at the Cubs trading both Gleyber and Eloy for Chapman and Quintana.
  9. My dream scenario is that the Rangers get desperate for a ring/another ring, and they trade the Sox Wyatt Langford in exchange for Cease and pieces.
  10. I think the Gene Watson hire, means that Hostetler is out. Especially with the way that Reinsdorf spoke about him during his presser.
  11. I couldn't agree more. If they don't build out the trenches and add some weapons, the next QB they bring in will suffer the same fate as Fields. I am also shocked that Pace has really ignored the trenches on both sides of the ball, especially with him being a former OL.
  12. Ricky was fired and Hahn was probably going to hire AJ Hinch
  13. Why would the more accomplished Kapler, take a back seat to Grifol?
  14. Wasn’t his ERA+ 92, not exact league average but near
  15. Lance Lynn doesn’t take care of his body which is beyond dumb for an older pitcher. I think Stone alluded multiple times that Lynn was very out of shape when he broke camp. I don’t blame the pitching coach, I blame the manager who is seemingly afraid of veterans for allowing that to happen. 2023 wasn’t one of his best years but Giolito was solid with the Sox. Joe Kelly was league average. Lopez was surprisingly above league average for the Sox as well. Let’s not forget to mention Clevinger who put up 3.3 WAR for the Sox this year with a ERA+ of 118, that signing while controversial was a huge success. Yeah, Cease‘s command took a step back. And Kopech unraveled but I don’t think Katz is the problem.
  16. I don’t know if he’ll get to pick the hitting coach. It seems like most GMs make that hire themselves these days. And I don’t get why everyone thinks Katz should’ve been fired. Look at the garbage he had to work with but there were some guys who took steps. Santos was a nice discovery, Scholtens another one.
  17. Theo said he was bringing back Renteria. Things change.
  18. Jerry’s refusal to spend on staffing the FO is ridiculous because the more money you spend on the FO and on analytics, the less you can spend on the roster.
  19. So far the Sox have hired from the Giants, Diamondbacks and the Angels(?). So far they’ve going after guys in very good orgs (not you Angels), hopefully that continues with the remaining hires. And I really hope they pull from Baltimore. Those guys know how to develop hitters.
  20. I’m totally out on Eberflus. I’m totally out on Getsy. I’m leaning towards being out on Fields and Poles (but less so). I didn’t buy the hype of them going to the playoffs as they won 3 games last year but they look like they took a massive, massive step back. I’m shocked that more resources weren’t dedicated to the LOS on both sides of the ball. I think they’re so bad that they might be better off not drafting a QB with these two seemingly top ten picks. Hopefully they can land Harrison Jr. and the best DE/LT who’s on the board.
  21. So are the Sox still going to hire a Director of Player Development? And are they going to hire someone to replace Teaford?
  22. I think the Watson thing is being overblown, of course Getz was going to hire someone from the Royals to join his FO. That’s the only other org that he’s worked for. I’m just glad he didn’t being in Dayton Moore and his crazy, anti porn, evangelical incel ass. I think the person who wants to turn the Sox into the Royals is Grifol, who should be fired immediately.
