Mike Tauchman to White Sox
This signing would make more sense to me if they had an OF prospect waiting in the wings, maybe they’ll acquire one in a deal for Crochet, but that guy doesn’t exist right now for them. I’m sure Fuller signed off on this but there is a pattern with a lot of hitters Getz has either signed, traded for or drafted, he likes guys that get on base. Tauchman fits that profile, they can play him against righties so he’ll be the strong side of a platoon with Slater. Maybe he’ll be a good guy to have around the young hitters because he’s someone who has professional at bats.

White Sox Top 10 Prospects (BA)
They needs bats, I’m expecting this to look totally different going into the season

Coaching Staff
When the Cubs hired Counsell, he kept the staff that was in place for the most part. And lots of GMs hire the pitching and hitting coaches themselves. This isn’t a big deal

Coaching Staff
Yeah the bullpen was awful but I guess that was by design, rebuilding teams rarely invest into their bullpens. I am expecting it to be better this coming season, they have lots of intriguing bullpen pieces in the system. And while we’re talking about the bullpen, I hope Getz doesn’t invest so heavily in their bullpen. In 2022, the Sox have a $203M payroll, $33M of that was spent on the bullpen. That’s 16% of their payroll. In 2024 the Dodgers spent about 10% of their budget on the bullpen. Couldn’t agree more

Coaching Staff
I don’t get why people have it out for Katz, by all accounts he’s pretty good at his job and there’s an established working relationship with Bannister from their time in San Francisco. The Sox lost 121 games last year but the pitching was the only thing that was reliable all season. *********** I’m not upset for the Sox keeping the 2.0 coaching staff around, there was a clear difference with the team once Grifol and his lieutenants were given the boot but I was hoping for some new blood to join them. And for some new roles to be created on the staff.

Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
If I’m trading Crochet,I wouldn’t want anyone over the age of 23 coming back to me in any deal.

Ryan Fuller Hired as Director of Hitting
Know what’s crazy? All those guys would still be with the Orioles if only Elias got another quality starter.

Sox name new bench coach
With this guy being in charge of the Brewers daily game planning, it hammers home something that Getz and Fuller have been hammering on in all of their media appearances, the need to get better at game planning. Makes you wonder what Grifol was providing to the guys on a daily basis, but this has to be a long stemming problem for the team.

Sox name new bench coach
The Brewers are a team that the Sox should be modeling themselves after. So this is a good move. I wonder if Renteria and Napoli join the staff in some capacity. Those are his boys.

Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
Being a place that can rehabilitate a player’s performance bodes well for making trades and getting more prospect capital into the system. It also could allow for some flexibility financially going forward too.

I’m excited to see the impact he has on players like Wolkow, Perez, Bonemer, Zavala, and Albertus.

Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
Roman Anthony has to be in any deal with the Red Sox. Remember, the Sox were heavily linked with him during his draft year.

Ryan Fuller Hired as Director of Hitting
I wonder how fast he can make an impact. Bannister’s impact was felt immediately seemingly, and Getz allowed him to have input on trade acquisitions, free agency and the draft. I assume he’ll let Fuller have the same level of input. Good hire.

G.M.'s meeting preview...
Burke, Thorpe, Martin, and Cannon. Iriarte next man up. Bush and Nastrini might be relievers. You’re going to need a reliable proven starter who can eat innings to save the bullpen at least.

G.M.'s meeting preview...
I’m of the opinion that they should sign at least one (maybe two) veteran starting pitchers. I wouldn’t be so comfortable going into a season with a rotation this untested, assuming Crochet is dealt before the season. A veteran who can eat innings would be a welcome sight to this team. Plus if the veteran starter(s) is a good, you can move him at the deadline for more long term assets.

Venable named new Sox Manager-per Merkin
He should be the associate manager, they should hire someone more experienced to be the bench coach

Bannister and Katz are in no danger of losing their jobs. Pitching is the one thing that worked last season and both seem pretty highly regarded. Again, most GMs lead the hiring of the hitting and pitching coaches.- Venable named new Sox Manager-per Merkin
I mean this is a big win, I’m so curious about what he said to him. No idea if it works out- Venable named new Sox Manager-per Merkin
Nice win for Chris Getz. Maybe the stuff about internal conflict on the hire was overblown, either way, good for him. He turned down the Mets and Steve Cohen, so I wonder how Getz sold him on this opportunity. Maybe he’s intrigued by having an opportunity to build something from the ground up - Venable named new Sox Manager-per Merkin
