  1. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ May 18, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) Dumpster diving signings are starting to catch up with the White Sox. My God this is pathetic, and it is the same thing year after year. Another team's trash always seems to be our treasure. Who would've thought? It's worked so well before
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 18, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) He was a reliever his first two years. Pitched great in the Cape. Has been pretty good this year as a starter. Definitely not the track record of Rodon/Fulmer. He lacks refinement on his secondary stuff which isn't surprising given his trajectory. I would be pretty disappointed if he was the pick. I do think he's the lazy pick for the analysts who don't have a beat on the Sox. I don't get the feeling they'll take him. I really dont think they go college pitcher at 10 either unless Puk is magically there. Too much potential in the bats at the top of the draft too miss out on. I would really be happy if they landed a good college or prep bat at 10, then drafted Lauer at 26. The more I look at that kid, the more interesting he becomes.
  3. Very interesting article. We know he's bad with breaking balls in the lower outside quadrant, but it looks like he is getting set up inside for the knock out on the outer, lower half. I hope this is data the Sox are looking at, because this is a blueprint for how he will be attacked until he shows he can handle it. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/using-statc...nst-jose-abreu/
  4. I think a focus on college pitching at 10 tells you exactly who the Sox are shopping for a big trade
  5. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ May 17, 2016 -> 07:44 PM) Hawk's exciting. Benetti is totally forgettable. Like most announcers, actually. Hawk is exciting like a heart attack is exciting
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 17, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) Exactly Saladino just not much of a player Oh Christ, shut up. He was awesome over there last season and he's a bench player. Todd is going to sit once in awhile.

  9. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 17, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) My guess as of today: 1. Phillies - Kyle Lewis 2. Reds - AJ Puk 3. Braves - Jason Groome 4. Rockies - Delvin Perez 5. Brewers - Corey Ray 6. A's - Nick Senzel 7. Marlins - Riley Pint 8. Padres - Blake Rutherford 9. Tigers - Zack Collins 10. Sox - Matt Manning Moniak will definitely be in the top 10 somewhere
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) Fine, I was just writing about the Trout/Cubs trade in another thread....when I should have been thinking about Marcus Semien's future as a SS with the A's. So basically, and you've written over and over again about the lack of career WAR coming from late 20's and early 30's (comp round) draft picks...you feel sure that Spencer Adams will produce that number and more for the White Sox? The White Sox haven't had a solid #2 hitter in their line-up for a LONG LONG time, and yet you seem supremely confident a guy who just put up a 2.8 WAR season last year in CF isn't a good player or is overvalued/mediocre. Why? What do you know about Burns and Adams that makes you feel so confident in your assessment/s? If he was on the FA market, that 2.8 WAR would be worth roughly $15-20 million dollars...especially for a player at age 26 and just entering the prime of his career. Is Spencer Adams worth that much if we were to put him up for auction to the rest of the major league teams (which obviously isn't the way it works, but just a hypothetical)??? You literally just argued on the previous page that he isn't worth a premium prospect. Pick a f***ing lane, guy.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) First off, if the White Sox even thought about Anderson or Adams or Fulmer for Burns, they would be insane. Secondly, I don't think, and I could be wrong, the Angels SS situation would matter much in a trade between the White Sox and A's. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!
  12. Time to get off the schnide. Let's get it and start a winning streak again.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2016 -> 11:52 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/32860/billy-burns Going through his stats for this year, there's zero reason to pay a premium for Billy Burns. Maybe if Austin Jackson's offense balls back to the 575-600 OPS level, it's something they can consider. He's only a .204 hitter in nearly 50 at-bats at USCF, let's hope he and the rest of the team can pick it back up. You're the only one saying they would need to give up a premium player.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 16, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) Keith Law's comp was Ray Lankford. Man, I never realized Lankford had such solid career numbers
  15. Kole Calhoun is a name that would greatly interest me if he was put up. 3 yrs of control left, lefty bat with some pop, AL experience, plus defender...wonder what the Angels would be looking for with him?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) Question of the Day: Are the 2016 White Sox for real, and will they be playing in the playoffs this year? I think they are for real. IMO, I thought 2016 was going to be a bridge year and the team was really going to be competitive in 2017 with Anderson and likely Fulmer up. This season has been a lot of fun so far and while this last week sucked, Im not really down at all on this team. I think they need another bullpen arm and think they need a #3 starter. Robin also needs to stop hitting Rollins and AJax in the 2 hole. Other than that, I have no real complaints. It's been fantastic watching Frazier and Lawrie so far and I've personally been really happy with Avi's progress. We've seen them play some really tough teams well, I think we will be watching some meaningful October baseball this year. As an aside, I know there is a lot of concern about Rodon thus far, but I was taking a lot back through his numbers this morning and he really hasnt been that bad. 4 of his 7 starts have been quality, he's been keeping his walks down since the game against Minnesota, and he's striking people out. He's just about to hit the year mark, let's cut the kid a break, he's pitched pretty damn well all things considered. We get spoiled because Sale and Q are legitimately 2 of the best 10 pitchers in the league, having those same expectations of someone who is supposed to be our 3/4 is unrealistic.
  17. Thank god we built up an early lead in the division I guess?
  18. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ May 14, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) Collins has the most advanced plate disciple in the entire class, and arguably the best over the last several drafts. He has strong hit and power tools, hits lefty, and he has improved every year within one of the best college programs around. Nothing is for certain but his profile suggests his floor is a solid if not spectacular lefty 1B/DH, with a ceiling of an offensive first catcher. I'd take that any day of the week, especially with the extra 1st round pick we get this year. All of this. You get big lefty power with an advanced approach at the plate that can likely be a fast mover. Even if he doesn't have a position other than DH, that skill set in the Sox lineup is incredibly valuable.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 13, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) How would you guys feel about this. My mock: 10. C/1B Zack Collins (under slot) 27. OF William Benson (over slot) 49. SP Logan Shore (at slot) 3rd round. SP Ryan Zeferjahn (over slot) Thoughts? I'd be more than happy with that. Advanced college bat, high potential prep, friday starter at a great program, and I dont know the last guy.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 13, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Rodon has struggled recently but soon, when he gets on a roll, the very thought of him being traded will make you laugh. Agreed, really want to see more development of the changeup if he's ever going to reach his potential, but he's too young and too good right now to sell on him. Really just spitballing ideas right now. How would people feel about moving Fulmer for an arm? There is the likelihood that you could essentially replace him this coming draft. I think the only prospect that remains untouchable come the deadline has to be Anderson just because there is a great deal of need at SS past this year.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 13, 2016 -> 12:15 PM) No way. Who would the Sox have in the rotation if he was traded? Sale, Q, question marks in Latos and Gonzalez and some scrub? Trading Rodon would make the team worse, not better IMO. Trade Fulmer or Anderson to recoop the loss of Rodon EDIT: I am against trading Rodon FWIW, just thinking about potential moves. Adding those 2 bats would make the offense pretty unstoppable.
  22. If the Sox were able to swing a trade for Braun + Lucroy, would you trade Rodon+?
  23. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 13, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/731124380248379398 Red Sox Stats ‏@redsoxstats NL baseball ops guy to me: "From what I've heard the White Sox are more than obsessed with Swihart. Tough to find a match there though." I wonder if Quintana+ could get it done?
