  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) Thread about Avi Garcia does not mention Avi Garcia.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) Chicago White Sox ‏@whitesox 2m2 minutes ago Prior to tonight’s game vs. Detroit, the #WhiteSox recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Ynoa from Class AAA Charlotte. .210 BAA vs. RHH, not a bad idea for this series His BB% is god awful tho
  3. Second to none in terms of prospect and draft coverage. Absolutely awesome work guys!
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) So the Sox have their biggest comeback win in 14 years last night. Avi gets a big hit to tie it in the 9th, so naturally, a thread started to praise him for the AB, dissolves into a discussion about how much he sucks. Again. Some of you guys need a new hobby. Did you even watch the game last night? He played like absolute dogs***....again. All the good will of his game tying hit really disappears when he allowed a few runs defensively.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 07:47 AM) They don't have to though. They can just play Coats in RF As much as I wanted to see him up here, I dont think there is any way you can keep running Coats out there. He is devoid of any approach at all and you are just throwing away those ABs. Im not sure where the relief is going to be coming from as there isn't really any reasonable replacements in the minors. If Engel was in AAA, I'd maybe think about giving him a chance, but he's too far away still. If Im Rick Hahn, Im looking to upgrade 3 areas: RP, DH, and CF. I think this team can stick around long enough to wait for Burdi to come up and contribute, so I'd put less priority on RP. DH has been a black hole of awful and is the most immediate area of need. I hate to even say it, but Jay Bruce would look really good on this team right now....if he never had to field again. His defensive metrics make Avi's look decent. If his price is too steep, then I go ask the Rays about the price on Pearce. He is absolutely mashing this season and allows you a lot of flexibility as a franchise. Im not sure there is a quick solution to our CF problems, there isn't a lot out there right now that would be better than just moving Eaton back over. Jon Jay? Billy Hamilton?
  6. Why does this team keep giving Avi chances? Why?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) Eh, no thanks. The idea of putting Avi into a position he doesn't play just scares me. Can't be any worse there than RF
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) The other idea could very well be the old Frank Thomas idea that he hits better when he plays the field, and they are trying to get Garcia's bat going again. If that's the case, DH Melky and have Coats in RF and Avi in LF. Coats should atleast be playing defense in this situation.
  9. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 07:33 AM) Just a hunch, but if the Sox lose this series, I expect that to be it for RV. Good. Complacency admits incompetence to the fanbase.
  10. Man, this whole thing has me really doubting Hahn for the first time. Middle of the order bat? What? You're immediately claiming that he's going to be a middle of the order bat when he comes off the DL? That's your plan? Holy f***. And while $1 million is the right price, he isn't going to be ready until mid-late July? I was really hoping this team had much more urgency than that. That is super disappointing.
  11. I am actually relatively excited to see Danish work out of the pen. Call me crazy.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) Keep in mind this is the worst free agent market, probably in the history of free agency, but definitely in decades at least. If they wanted to sell off this off season, they should be looking at a sellers market. Agreed. If they continue to tank all the rest of the first half, I think you give a massive fire sale and just absolutely load up for a year or two from now. This current FA market is razor thin, they could ask for a bounty of both young ML studs and top end prospects for guys like Sale, Q, Frazier, etc., and the 2018 FA class is loaded and they could feasibly have a bunch of cost controlled talent and the ability to take on a superstar. It wont be what they do, but I dont think it would end up being the worst play.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 06:13 AM) I wonder if he is better than Carlos Sanchez. It blows my mind that with all the information available at the click of mouse that people choose to stay uninformed. Sanchez has never had an OPS+ over 65, Lawrie is at 98 right now. Sanchez. Is. AWFUL.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) TOOL has always been and will always be my favorite band. "Learn to swim" is tattooed on my left thigh in big block letters that sap about a foot. Virtual fist bump. Best band on the planet still. Absolutely punished in Nashville.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) Tim Anderson Jr.Verified account ‏@TimAnderson7 Let's Go... Very cryptic. Probably nothing. Probably nothing, but sure deleted quickly...
  16. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) Austin Jackson has actually come around some statistically. Bravo. Last 28 days: .321/.394/.411 Atleast someone was hitting in May
  17. The scouting reports on Dunn are interesting to me. Granted, everything I've seen as come via Youtube, but I look at Law's breakdown and kinda scratch my head. Dunn's fastball didn't really look like it had much movement to me and he was missing the zone a lot with it. In addition, it seems like he typically relies on his fastball to set up his breaking pitches and good hitters will pick him apart if he isnt locating. His slider looked tight and maybe a tick above average, but it kinda reminded me of Montas slider to be honest and while I think that pitch flashed every so often, it was never something I would regard as "plus'. In terms of his mechanics, I found them to be lacking fluidity. It would be lazy to make comps to Dontrelle Willis or Dillon Tate, but his mechanics had a little jerkiness to me. All this being sad, Law is usually a pretty solid spot for prospect analysis so I will trust what he's likely seen in person. Dunn seems like a really interesting prospect at 10 if Ray and Rutherford are off the board. If he has the makings of a fast mover, then you really have some flexibility with your rotation to make a possible trade to plug holes elsewhere over the next couple seasons.
  18. Super excited to be starting Scherzer in 2 fantasy leagues tonight
  19. This is one of your dumber threads, which is saying something.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 08:00 AM) yet, if you read gamethreads, this team should win at least 120 games if managed correctly. You are the f***ing king of hyperbole.
  21. Ya, there's the answer.
  22. I dont think any of you need to be making this a personal thing. If the Sox are more important to someone else than they are to you, who are you to judge them? It's their lives and they are free to choose how they want to live it. I understand frustration with negativity, but a lot of people use message boards like these to commiserate with fellow fanatics. For you it may be a nuisance, for others it may therapy. Isn't it just best to block those that irritate you so your experience is more enjoyable?
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) It's going to be interesting. I think the top tier of players is 9 deep. It's the first 8 you have listed + Rutherford. That's just my opinion. I know the Sox prefer Rutherford to Moniak. I got a guy who says Atlanta is flooding the big writers with info on the college bats but they very well may be going high school. He says they've been scouting both Rutherford and Yellich heavily even though it hasn't been reported. Other whisper is that they love Pint. Preller too has been scouting both heavily HS Cali guys too. Christian Yellich and Rutherford grew up in the same neighborhood and Yellich's mom has a relationship with ATL's personnel FWIW. There's a camp in their brain trust that calls Rutherford "Yellich with power." Which is an annual all star in theory. Without a doubt, Yelich is a nice, nice player. Add some power to his repetoire and you got a superstar. I really cant wait for Thursday. My wife and I have a flight out of Ohare the next morning at 6 AM and I told her my entire Thursday night would be spent watching the draft. With my enthusiasm for the major league team completely flatlining, it's nice to be this excited for something else.
  24. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) 1.) PHI- Puk/Moniak 2.) CIN - Senzel/Puk/Lewis 3.) ATL - Lewis/Senzel/Ray/Groome/Pint/Rutherford/Moniak 4.) COL - Moniak/Pint/Lewis 5.) MIL - Perez/Ray/Pint/Groome/Lowe 6.) OAK - Groome/Senzel/Lewis/Moniak 7.) MIA - Garrett/Pint/Whitley 8.) SD - Pint/Quantrill/Sheffield//Hudson/Manning 9.) DET - Ray/Hudson/Manning 10.) CHW - Rutherford/Ray/Dunn 11.) SEA - Dunn 12.) BOS - Jones/Dunn/Anderson Puk stops at 2. Senzel stops at 6. Pint stops at 8. Dunn stops at 11. This is just my opinion, all things considered. The bolded are the teams that are total crapshoots to me. It's encouraging only really seeing Rutherford linked to one location prior to the 10th pick (and I really dont see him going to ATL). I think your breakdowns look pretty spot on. If I had to take a swing at how this ends up going down, I think it plays out like: 1.) PHI - Puk 2.) CIN - Senzel 3.) ATL - Lewis 4.) COR - Pint 5.) MIL - Ray 6.) OAK - Groome 7.) MIA - Garrett 8.) SD - Perez 9.) DET - Hudson or Manning 10.) CHI - Rutherford
  25. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 08:25 AM) During his two seasons with the Royals he was 20th in all of baseball in fWAR. That is pretty damn good. Pretty damn good sure, but ace level? Unlikely. Jose Quintana has maintained a lower FIP across a longer stretch with the Sox and people have argued for a long time he's not an ace, so if he's not, Jame Shields sure as s*** wasnt.
