Countdown to the Trade Deadline..
QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 01:47 AM) Really think adding just a quality bullpen arm (or two) is really all that is necessary. A-Jax and Morneau should round out the lineup quite nicely. Looking at a line-up vs. RHP: 1. Anderson 2. Eaton 3. Jose 4. Frazier 5. Melky 6. Morneau 7. Lawrie 8. Avila/Navarro 9. A-Jax This seems like a good enough line-up to me...no point giving up prospects for the likes of Bruce, Cargo etc. Im kinda thinking this is the best plan of action. Bring Fulmer up in late July/early August and maybe Burdi if they are really in the playoff chase and then maybe bring in a RH platoon partner for Morneau. No massive upgrades, just small changes that could bolster the bench and pen.

7/8/16 - Braves @ White Sox - 7:10 - CSN+
Late night for the Braves last night, doesnt matter if they were already in town. Not finishing up a game until around 1ish (get out by 2) is not a good start to a series where you need to face Sale and Quintana in the first 2 games. Take the first 2 and let Shields have a little pressure off his shoulders.

Carson Fulmer "in play" for second half
QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) Also...look at Rodon...many will say he was "rushed." Were his struggles due to him being rushed, or just not being as good as we thought--YET? You put a player where his skill set fits in--not where you'd feel most comfortable seeing him. I dont think Rodon was rushed, I think Rodon's problem so far has been the inability to develop an average 3rd pitch. Him taking the next step largely depended on his ability to develop his changeup, which hasn't gone all that great. If batters can sit on two pitches, he will continue to get hit. He's throwing more fastballs and less changeups and sliders than last year, batters know that and are sitting dead red on fastball.

Chris Sale named to All-Star game
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) Sorry Q Jordan Bastian @MLBastian 7m7 minutes ago Corey Kluber is an All-Star. The Cleveland ace has been named as a replacement for Toronto's Marco Estrada (15-day DL). This is going to be some nice bulletin board material for the clubhouse if he gets snubbed.

Carson Fulmer "in play" for second half
QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 07:50 AM) Can you imagine adding him and Burdi to our playoff push? And possibly another acquisition for the pen? I think this news, coupled with the aggressive push of Burdi thus far, shows how much people are asking for on the relief market. Im betting they have changed their focus to acquiring another bat.

7/6/16 - Yankees @ White Sox - 7:10 - WPWR
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 50m50 minutes ago #WhiteSox for 7/6: Anderson 6, Eaton 9, Abreu 3, Cabrera 7, Frazier 5, Lawrie 4, Navarro 2, Garcia DH, Shuck 8. Gonzalez 1. Does anybody have an official Avi countdown going yet? Every day I see this, I die a little on the inside.

Thinking I might try to make this since I had to miss the last one

7/6/16 - Yankees @ White Sox - 7:10 - WPWR
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) The Yankees don't scare me in the long run, so I look at it as 3 out of 4 until the break no matter what. Lose tonight, sweep the Braves is ok too....but win tonight! Id rather just be riding a 4 game winning streak into the break personally. 47-41 is a lot more appealing than 46-42.

Avila leaves game, placed on DL. Narvaez called up
If he goes on the DL today, he comes back after the Mariners series. My guess is Narvaez comes up and fills the backup role and gets starts 7/17 and 7/20.

Zach Burdi headed to Birmingham
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) Just want to make sure he doesn't come up and walk everyone and their mother and be a disaster. We'll see how he does in AA. He hasn't walked anyone in the minors yet and didn't really do walk a bunch at Louisville. That fear seems somewhat irrational.

Countdown to the Trade Deadline..
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) Sox will not be trading for Ryan Braun. I wouldnt mind his bat in the lineup, but his price along with his injury history really makes it risky, especially for a team like the Sox. A reliever and a guy like Reddick would be my ultimate sweet spot for this team. Can either put Reddick in LF or RF and move Eaton to CF or Melky to DH.

Top 30 International Prospects; July 2nd 2016
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) They have done a solid job on the international market lately and have quietly had some really good drafts. I know it doesn't fit the narrative though. Not sure how you say that's a narrative when it's so plainly observable in instances like these. They've had every opportunity to exploit the loopholes of the J2 system and they haven't. They had such an advantageous position this year and got outworked by the f***ing Padres, Braves, and Athletics. Sure, there are doing better now than before when they didn't sign anyone but none of these kids are blue chippers. When will they sack up and go after the Maitan's or Yadiel Alvarez's of the world?

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 10:38 PM) Somehow Shields only gave up one run despite eight hits and a walk in seven innings. Need help figuring out how that math works out or something?

6/28 Games
Jameson Fisher with his second HR of the game. Now with 4 RBI. Yozmer Solorzano with a nice start as well, he may be a name to watch down there.

6/28 Games
Jameson Fisher with his first bomb of the season. He might end up being a pretty nice pick.

The Second Wildcard
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) I'm glad we've beaten those teams, but they definitely are better than us. Hey this team was never as good as they were in the first month or as bad as they were during that awful stretch. Probably is about right to be .500 right now. But when I look at the 4-5 of Gonzalez and Shields it is a lot better than Latos and Danks. So hopefully we can be the 85-87 win team we hoped for. Hard to say they are "definitely" better than the Sox when the Sox are collectively 10-6 against those teams.

Kid has 11 HRs already this season. You cant teach that type of power.

The Second Wildcard
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) Just taking a step back, these are my thoughts: Most talented teams: Central: Indians - they've been doing this with a banged up and almost non-existent OF. If Brantley could ever get healthy and they make a decent acquisition? This team then gets that much more scary. Plus anything from Yan Gomes would be another huge plus. This team is the most complete in the division. Royals - they have weathered a ton of injuries. I don't see them being over aggressive like last year because they know they probably have a year or two where the fan base will come if they are just in the thick of it. They need a few too many pieces and I just don't see them trading their prospects for the pithcing they need. Sox - we need a C, OF, and DH help. Bullpen too. We know our problems. Tigers - This team has offensive talent. Some iffy pitching talent and a bad bullpen. See them hovering around and probably hitting a 10-15 real rough patch that puts them out of it. Maybe that rough patch instead goes well and they are in it til the end too but doubtful. East: Orioles - They have the bats. Their pitching has actually been decent. Still could add an arm. This team isn't going anywhere though. Jays - Offense is there. Pitching is decent. Sanchez wont be starting all year though. They'll have a Chavez step in or Floyd. They'll be around all year. BoSox - offense is amazing. Pitching isn't. We know how aggressive they can and will be. They have the prospects. This team will be in it. YAnks - A shame they'll waste that three headed monster for the 7-8-9 innings. Team is just too old and frail and thin. They are caught where we are. They know if they do make the playoffs they probably could make noise, but they should probably tear it down and trade to gain prospects. Rays - my most surprising team. They were .500 before a ton of injuries. This was a team that I predicted could win the WS. Them and the Rangers. Pithcing depth is amazing. They'll probably trade off a few of those SP and get a few prospects in return for the field. They'll be strong next year. Erasmo Ramirez is a guy I'd look at for the Sox. I like him. West Rangers- best team in the AL IMO and they have had only 3 starts from Darvish. Offesnse is deep and have had nothing from Fielder. Think about the 1-2 punch of DArvish and Hamels in the playoffs with that offense. Think they'll be in the WS against the Cubs. Astros - I am biased as I lived in Houston last year, but this team really doesn't have many holes. Not the strongest pitching or bullpen, but can get it done. Angels - Out of it. just don't have the makeup to win this year or next year. Sucks for Trout, that team isn't very good. A's - not a very good team Seattle - team has a very injured pithcing staff. Before that they were right in the thick of it. Maybe they get healthy and go on a run, but I put their chances with the likes of the Sox and Yanks. So all of that: 2 WC running... I'd say the teams better than us are definitely: BoSox, Jays, Stros In the ballpark with us: Yanks, Royals, Seattle, ChiSox Hanging on by a thread: Tigers, Rays Out - Angels, A's, Twins We'll need a bit of luck and hope that the East beats each other up enough. Also #1 is we'll have to beat our AL central opponents to have any chance. I think you can give the BoSox 1 WC as they will make the big trade to get a SP. Jays, Stros, and Royals will be our main competition for the second spot. Jays might have trouble with their rotation staying healthy and strong. Sanchez is on an innings limit. Stroman is one year removed from TJ Surgery. etc. You move a Chavez or a Floyd from the bullpen and all of a sudden the BP is weaker. Royals keep doing this despite their rotation and lack of household names and injuries in the field. I don't know what to say. What the Sox need to do is: acquire a BP guy, hope that Morneau is the answer we want and hopefully add some kind of super utility speed guy to the bench that can steal bases and play multiple positions. I'd like to Erasmo Ramirez on this team. Insurance for the rotation and can fill a nice gap in the bullpen at a relatively lower price. Sox record against: Red Sox 4-3 Astros 1-2 Jays 5-1 JenniferLawrenceOk.gif

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 09:13 AM) Man what a disaster year 2 for him. He has a .951 OPS at a more age appropriate level. I wouldnt really call this year a disaster, he IS a 6th round pick.
