  1. Morneau 1-2, 1 RBI, 2 BB
  2. Zavala 2-3, HR, 3 RBI
  3. I'd send them Matt Davidson if they wanted
  4. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Because I care what you think. Why do you spend your time on a Sox board? Serious question.
  5. Also, sold start for Lambert tonight
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) I'd package Frazier and David Robertson in a blockbuster. Sox get 5-6 Bosox prospects or Dodger prospects or Yankee prospects? That's actually one of your less bad ideas.

Will be watching a lot of these guys closely.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) i feel like Marcus Semien cant' be a decent middle infielder in the majors. I just think i need to say that I think it was a disservice to move him away from 3rd. His power plays well there and he was a solid enough defender there to stick. I agree that he shouldn't be at SS though.
  9. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 09:54 AM) Looking ahead to 2017, Jackson likely to be gone, and Shuck is not a long term answer in CF, so Sox will probably at least take a look at both Engel and May. Engel's promo a possibility. Not sure who Sox like best, May or Engel. Of course, they could always move Eaton back to CF next year. I see no reason to move Eaton back to CF unless you add a big bat for a corner spot next season. He plays it at such an elite level that it wouldn't make any sense to do it.
  10. Is Nick Basto a real spec? 22 yo w/ a .292/.364/.446 line in 305 ABs this season between A+ and AA. Anyone have any idea if the Sox plan to keep playing Engel in AA this season? Would be nice to see him move up and maybe have a shot to win that CF position next season. His defense next to Eaton's would be pretty nasty.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 10:35 PM) Thompson also had a lot of game-winning hits during that hot streak. Should we take all of those wins of the board, too...because they happened in one "hot stretch"? Couldn't we do that with 80-90% of pitchers and hitters? Let's just put it this way. The Dodgers are confident enough in him, Pederson, Kendrick and eventually Ethier to trade Puig now. As they should be, Puig is the player people thought he was going to be
  12. Hat tip JRFegan for the great article
  13. I think every Sox fan needs to read this article for some perspective right now. Barring a complete tear after the break, I hope the FO realizes they can't waste the primes of another wave of young talent. Time is now to pick a direction and go 100% in that direction. http://southside.locals.baseballprospectus..._medium=twitter
  14. Just going to add that the two best pitchers over the last 2 weeks have far and away been Shields and Gonzalez. That's a serious problem, especially given the importance of these last few series.
  15. Sox have a lot of holes right now. One thing we've always relied on to be a strength has seemingly become a gaping hole over the last month and for the Sox to contend through the rest of the season, the starting staff is really going to need to step it up. Here are the numbers over the last month: Chris Sale 4.76 ERA 1.12 WHIP 9.8 K/9 7 HR Jose Quintana 4.64 ERA 1.18 WHIP 6.5 K/9 7 HR James Shields 5.33 ERA 1.59 WHIP 5.0 K/9 5 HR Carlos Rodon 5.16 ERA 1.63 WHIP 9.9 K/9 5 HR Miguel Gonzalez 5.52 ERA 1.43 WHIP 5.2 K/9 2 HR If you want your eyes to really burn, take a look at each of their FIPs in June and July. I dont think that they are this bad, but I also don't think they are as good as they were in April. Maybe the weight of always needing to be perfect has finally got to them, maybe they are just tired. Whatever it is, they are going to need to carry this team if they want to have any chance at a playoff spot and it needs to start with Sale. People can pretend like he's been as good as advertised this season, but his numbers tell a completely different story. He's been a completely different pitcher and he needs to get back to what made him scary. I'm hoping bringing Fulmer up after the break brings some stability to the bullpen and allows the rotation to get comfortable. Maybe even Burdi will be up for to give a hand. The rotation needs to really get it together though, they are what makes this whole thing go.
  16. I can't wait until Avi never wears a Sox jersey again. Why isn't Saladino DHing right now again?
  17. Hell of a start to the season for Collins
  18. Been beating this drum for awhile. All for it.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) They put fulmer on the list stating that most now think he will be a bullpen guy. Also Montas
  20. Collins will be in there at the end of the year and maybe Burdi or Hansen can sneak in. You should know this wasn't going to be kind to the Sox though.
  21. Nice thing about Blackmon is his splits dont look bad L/R and home vs. away. He would be a really nice piece to add. AJax as a 4th OFer is so much more appealing.
  22. QUOTE (striker @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 08:41 AM) I'll take Blackmon and McGee from the Rockies and Norris from the Padres. All fit nicely into the 2016-2017 plan. Anderson Eaton Abreu Cabrera Frazier Blackmon Lawrie Morneau Norris I'd like the Blackmon/Mcgee trade, but I'd bat Blackmon first then and put Anderson in the 9 hole.
