  1. Getz will likely burn $20M filling out the roster with garbage, and not spending $20M on a single player will no doubt keep the boss happy.
  2. Possible, yes, but putting it out there in late July feels like an empty threat. It’s is hard to see a scenario where Jerry ok’s the option, so Getz is really only playing chicken with himself.
  3. Which is why I'm always baffled when they don't take full advantage of the Rule 5 draft. They should be scowering other orgs for 'diamond in the rough' types, even if its just for depth. Cuz it's not like the Sox have a loaded system overflowing with talent all needing roster spots.
  4. Guys in the low minors don't tend to need Rule 5 protection though. If they can't advance to higher levels after 5 years, the risk of losing them is low. Or aren't a huge loss if they do get taken. Not really sure what you're worried about in this line of thinking.
  5. Which makes offering a bag of balls for the Sox fodder barely worth the effort to me.
  6. Yeah, you purporting such doesn't make this true. I have never claimed anyone was overvaluing Robert. It wouldn't take much of a rebound for Robert to be worth his $20M option IMO. Him taking a $10M AAV contract running through his age 32 season is a fairly absurd assertion. If he were to rebound to a league average bat, I think he would be worth a $4/80M gamble for a contender not worried about pinching pennies.
  7. True, but Maruicio is the only one I would be interested in. The other two would give me Vargas trade vibes.
  8. I think they really like Mauricio. It will take more than Robert IMO.
  9. Mets have a glut of infielders, and Getz might be dumb enough to take Vientos or Baty back in return.
  10. While locked into a multi year deal at well below what he’s worth with any sort of rebound.
  11. 4/40 isn’t a reasonable offer. Period. He and Boras laugh at that and take their chances in FA. This shouldn’t be hard to understand.
  12. Should be and will be are two different entities. That’s the whole counterpoint. I also think you are overestimating the value the Sox fodder has to other teams.
  13. If Robert hits FA, I have little doubt some team offers him more than 10M on a one year prove it deal. He would be stupid to lock himself into a multi year contract at that rate, let alone sticking with a toxic org that basically wants him gone.
  14. I tend to agree. Outside of Robert and Houser, I just don’t see the demand being very high.
  15. That’s what I figured but don’t pay super close attention. Kind of a bummer that high schoolers won’t get a taste of pro game action for a good while now.
  16. Are high school picks missing out on rookie ball live game reps this year now that the draft has been pushed back a month?
  17. Because to anyone outside of your male-centric perspective, using how girls throw to imply that someone is weak or lesser, is insulting to anyone who isn't male. It is antiquated, derogatory, and frankly, offensive as f***. I would wager that any girl in high school or college softball can throw better than the majority of non athletes, so the analogy in your insult even lacks merit to begin with. You also claim to detest conformity, but here you are being upset that a message board won't conform to your antiquated notions of what is acceptable speech, over a sexist insult that is no longer in common usage. Do you not recognize the disconnect here?
  18. It's not Stone hate. He was once really great at the job, and his knowledge of pitching is still unmatched, but now he comes across as old and bitter more often than not. Just look to his Twitter feed to get a sense of the general contempt and disdain he has for anyone that isn't in lock step with the org. The game passed by even Hawk, and Stone is getting to that point too.
  19. Schriffen is such a bootlicker that I doubt he's going anywhere unless is its by choice. The org doesn't care about quailty as long as you kiss the ring. As for Stone, it is really time to call it a career, though I'm sure he as a job for as long as he wants. They are a miserable pairing, but it doesn't matter much until the org is ready to move on from both of them.
  20. Don’t forget allowing the GM of his other team to run the greatest player of all time out of town a few years later. Orgs win championships you say? Seriously, get fucked Jerry.
  21. Bunch of savages in this town.
  22. I wouldn’t be surprised if they caught up to the Rockies after the deadline. We are in for an ugly second half.
  23. Meanwhile our only hope is that in 10 years JR isn’t running things any more.
