  1. Have we ever seen a three game series with a position player pitching in all 3?
  2. Golden Sombrero tonight and spends the rest of the series looking shell shocked at the end of the bench.
  3. Farmelo for Vargas feels like an overpay, but I wouldn't expect more than an A ball prospect in return if the Sox are hoping to cash in. At some point the Mariners are going to have to push a few chips in if they are serious about making a run, but Vargas just doesn't move the needle for a team in need of a legit bat.
  4. Montes is the best hitter close to being ready, and he likely ends up at DH long term.
  5. There is no way the M’s are seriously interested in Vargas. He’s hardly better than Solano at 1B and sure as hell is worse than Williamson at 3B, rookie or not. It would be colossally stupid to trade a legit prospect for Vargas.
  6. I’m calling bullshit on this right now.
  7. And I have never once said that a build is impossible or that the pricetag wouldn't be steep. Talk to the dude grasping at straws as to why it's impossible, not the rest of us with a rational perspective.
  8. Target and the shops at Roosevelt seem to have zero issues existing on the north side of the Roosevelt viaduct, along with everything else that has been build the past 20+ years south of Polk. Far greater marvels of engineering have been accomplished throughout human history than building a stadium or two on former rail yards built atop reclaimed riverbed. But alas, we must endure one troll's unceasing quest to convince every reader on this forum that the site in question is uninhabitable, and any attempt to build will be swallowed up by ground that hasn't been riverbed in 100+ years... 🤦‍♀️
  9. I don’t have any evidence for this, but it feels like retractable roof stadiums require a larger footprint than open air parks. If they are already sharing the 78 with the new Fire stadium, space limitations might be an issue as well. April weather sucks for baseball, but I struggle to see how a few cold/wet series in April and maybe a few overly hot series in late June or July justify the cost of a roof. Same with the handful of games impacted by rain every season. Chicago has weather extremes, sure, but we aren’t Houston, Phoenix, or Seattle. Domed baseball in Chicago will never make sense to me.
  10. It is basically TA, and then guys like Semien who were traded away and blossomed elsewhere.
  11. In all fairness, moving on from Ricky was probably the right move. They needed a better game manager and he proved to be lacking when it mattered. Too bad we ended up with the worst possible downgrade.
  12. So in other words, there are no indicators they are building around a coherent strategy. Awesome.
  13. I don't think anyone is a fan of corporate named parks, but it is inescapbale at this point. "Wintrust Field at Comiskey Park" or something of the sort is probably the best we can hope for.
  14. Going from Renteria, for whom it seemed like players would run through a wall, to drunken baseball corpse who napped in the dugout probably throws a monkey wrench in the whole accountability and professionalism part.
  15. And so many Getzian AAAA wastes of roster space.
  16. Major League pitching is smart enough to exploit Baldwin’s aggressiveness, so in order to fix the issue, he gets to face inferior pitching that doesn’t challenge him and isn’t capable of exploiting his weaknesses. Make it make sense…
  17. Those renderings look fantastic. It could have and should have been us. Thanks Jerry. Just f*** off already and let us have nice things...
  18. The article even mentions access to two adjacent parking garages!

    Devers

Seriously. The Sox aren’t a Devers level hitter away from contending.
  20. Correct. His 2025 option has been used, so if he were to flop in his first big league stint, going back to Charlotte doesn’t burn another option.
  21. Are they marginally better? Sure. Significantly better? Their record says otherwise. Will Tauchman or Slater bring back anything notable in trade? Unlikely. Are these sentiments repeated ad nauseam or have been irrefutably disproven to necessitate an apology thread? Not even remotely. Not being historically bad two years in a row is hardly reason for a victory lap.
  22. There are far better hotdogs to be had around the city. It’s a shame it’s the only option left on 35th street.
  23. Does Lee have options left? Trading him away feels premature, even though it’s tough to roster 3 catchers. I just don’t see them getting anything more useful in trade.
  24. And that’s the rub. Two bars on 33rd and a shitty hotdog stand on 35th a few blocks west. Not a whole hell of a lot to do before or after games w/in walking distance. Drop Sox Park at Roosevelt & Clark and you have a few dozen a short walk away, including easier access to Chinatown. If the White Sox want to be a viable entertainment option for tourists and casual fans alike, 35th & Shields or 29th & King won’t cut it.
