This is less Jerry playing politics as it is Jerry engaging in a rather corrupt quid pro quo with an idealogical regime that wields regulatory and investigative bodies for their own ends. It's pretty disgusting, but also totally unsurprising.

Carriers do want local sports. They just want the best deal for their side, and they have the leverage. CHSN is a drop in the bucket for Comcast, so they can hold out until the RSN captitulates.

The level of disconnect is astounding. The point IS to draft better, scout better internationally, and acquire better talent in trades and waiver claims, etc. And develop better. But its not like the guy in charge now, who shall never have any blame placed at his feet, has or has had any responsibility for any these areas in which the White Sox organization has failed miserably. Nope, none whatsoever. Not in the past, present, or future. All is sunshine and roses in Getz land... Holy f*** this level of mental gymnastics has to be exhausting...

Taking victory laps over missing the point, or ignoring the point, or simply refusing to acknowledge the validity of said point. Canario is just a guy. Talented, but flawed. But he’s exactly the type of guy Getz should be acquiring and giving a long look vs playing the Jankowskis of the world everyday. It’s not even really about Canario, but more about Getz’s imbecilic backwards process, and his refusal to do everything possible to improve the long term future of the team.

Why would MLB step in? Manfred works for the owners, and not for the good of the game.

If that really is his vision, great, but like you said, its nothing unique. There is nothing he has done for the positive that any new hire wouldn't be inclined to do as well. But part of building through the draft, beyond trading players for prospects, is to leverage the Major League roster to find as many "diamonds in the rough" to build for the future. His trades and roster management don't point to a GM who is proactively excecuting a master plan to find and develop as many players as possible. This has all been discussed ad nauseum, but the points remain valid. Getz's failings to this point are so glaring that it strains credulity, making it rather difficult to believe that he is bringing about positive change behind the scenes.

Would any team put him in charge of minor league development after his brief tenue in the KC FO? I highly doubt it.

Getz has failed upward spectacularly, while everyone else above him has at least accomplished something in the baseball world. I mean, Hahn and KW were terrible at the end, but they never lost 121 games.

I still believe that an outside hire, working within the same restraints and limitations as Getz, would have this org in a better spot. Modernizing the operation is something that should have happened anyway, so Getz gets no extra credit from me. An outside hire with any idea of how a modern front office should be run would have done the same. And probably do a better job. Yes, Getz inherited a catastrophic mess, (that he helped create), yet managed to take a 101 loss team and make it 20 games worse. It is mind boggling how bad his roster management was the first year on the job. There is tanking, and then there is constructing the worst team in modern baseball history. No GM should be allowed to survive that. But worst of all, he is inept at talent evaluation. The Crochet trade suggests that he might have learned something from past mistakes, but that doesn't erase giving away other trade assests for vitually nothing. Or the continued org penchant for overpaying washed up veterans that offer little value towards building the future roster. Nothing changes until JR is gone, and there will always be limits to how this org operates until then, but that doesn't excuse the s%*# job Getz has done to this point.

The Rockies' reminds me of early/mid 90s Phoenix Suns. These are all horrible either way, which leads me to believe they are real sadly.

A third of the Chicago market is larger than the entire Nasville metro area. The moment JR is no longer the controlling partner the entire fanbase will be instantly invigorated. There is no greater untapped market than right here. Ishba has to see the goldmine he'd be acquiring. As jaded as the Sox fan base is, if the Sox suddnely start operating like a modern large market team under new ownership, it won't take long for the fans to buy in. I honestly believe that.

NYY's homer barrage in their opening series might have had more to do with bad Milwaukee pitching than the torpedo bats. If the trend continued against AZ we might be able to gleen some data to suggest the new bats give hitters an advantage, but so far that isn't the case. Five games is far too small of a sample size to draw any conclusions obviously, but I don't think the Yankess have broken the hitting code or anything with a new bat design.
