May 2, 2021 – Seasons can change in a heartbeat and on this day the high expectations for the White Sox took a stunning turn for the worse. Five tool outfielder Luis Robert, the Gold Glove outfielder and runner up in the 2020 Rookie of the Year voting completely tore his right hip flexor when beating out a ground ball in the first inning in a 5-0 loss to the Indians. The White Sox were already without the services of Robert’s teammate Eloy Jimenez, one of the top young sluggers in the game, because of an injury that happened late in spring training. Robert wasn’t even able to try to resume baseball activities for a period of a few months. His loss left a gaping hole both offensively and defensively in the White Sox lineup but remarkably after a grueling rehab he returned to the team on August 9 in Minnesota and helped contribute to the club winning the Central Division with a total of 93 victories. His injury-luck though continued into the 2022 season when he missed time with vertigo, blurred vision and worst of all, a sprained left wrist that never properly healed and was so bad at times he was swinging a bat one-handed.

13 runs in seven games and Robert gets hurt. All you can do is laugh as this total s%*# show.

Their 1-for-7 showing with runners in scoring position dropped the South Siders to 4-for-32 in that category for the season. It's also interesting that the tribune this morning had a story quoting Iloy as saying he was feeling much better. They put him on the 10day injured list this afternoon. ?

Jimenez by the way told DVS of the Sun-Times he has a groin injury.

“Physical mistakes are OK but we made some fundamental mistakes we’re not accustomed to making,” manager Pedro Grifol said. ?

Just my opinion but a change in ownership would do a lot more to change the situation than a new stadium.

Not a lot of Sox input Robert Sox did develop him somewhat to be sure but he was considered one of the best amateur players in the world Martin What? Guy has done very little even when he didn't blow out his arm Crochet guy has been basically injured, has made two starts, let's see how things turn out Madrigal nothing but injuries and was rushed to the majors, Sox didn't develop him a lot Sheets What? total bust Lambert What? total bust Remillard What? Career AAAA player, he's a "success?" Lopez spent most of his minor league time with the Nationals, inconsistent with the Sox, maybe some credit here Giolito This is the guy I think the Sox should get the most credit for helping turn into an All-Star. Your joking part III All three of the above guys have been not total busts but tremendous disappointments with limited success Mena jury is very much out on him to see if he does better in another organization Sosa don't see how anyone can say he's a success given very limited track record

It's going to be a long, embarrassing season. Get ready to break out those VHS tapes and DVD's of better seasons by the end of April gang. 12 runs in six games...words fail me.

I'll repeat something I brought up maybe last year don't remember exactly. I was told Hahn would get pissed because he was hearing around the league the Cubs were basically laughing at the fact that he wanted Jimenez as part of the deal. He didn't care for being made to look like a fool. ?

But very typical.

He's made two starts, I think it is a bit early to be declaring he's an "ace" of any kind yet. He may turn out to be but with very little track record it is hard to say.

I'm willing to guarantee that if former Gov. Quinn's suggestion to put the Sox/Bears stadium issues on the November ballot comes to pass it will be soundly beaten by the public. (I'm guessing the McCaskey family and JR already know the results from Kansas City and will do everything in their power to prevent that from happening as in getting a public vote.)

The Giants and Dolphins did it so it can be done. The bulk of the money involved came from McGowan and Robbie.

More wasted JR's money. They'll spend millions of stiffs and retreads but go out and get a game changer? No can do.

In a functional, competent well run organization I'd agree with you 100%. Unfortunately these are the White Sox who like my Dad used to say, "Would screw up a two car funeral..." Maybe see if Crochet can pitch well for two years and then see if he'd be open to an extension but remember what has happened to Jimenez and Moncada after they got those big extensions to buy out some arbitration years. That hasn't worked out well.

KC rejects stadium tax Last night, Kansas City voters overwhelmingly denied a sales tax that would’ve kept the Chiefs and Royals in the metropolitan area for the next 25 years. The tax would’ve provided about $2 billion to help renovate Arrowhead Stadium and build a new Royals stadium. Both Chiefs and Royals owners don’t appear to have a Plan B right now.

On the latest podcast that I watched tonight Garfien said that after Iloy got hurt he asked his producer if it would be possible to find and count the number of times he hurt himself just running to first base. It turns out just in the last few years they found five instances where the guy hurt himself just running to first base. That's...amazing.

April 2: OF/DH Eloy Jiménez hoping to avoid IL The White Sox designated hitter sustained a left adductor injury during a groundout in the sixth inning on Sunday, grimacing as he moved two or three steps out of the batter's box. The team called Jiménez's injury soreness during the game, but manager Pedro Grifol referred to it as a strain postgame. Jiménez was swinging the bat and going through drills Tuesday, hoping to avoid the IL. "We feel like there’s a really good chance that happens. That’s why we haven’t put him on there yet," Grifol said. "But again, he has to continue to make improvements like he did from yesterday to today.”

Well...you can't lose them all I guess.
