  1. Still to early to call one way or the other. He was terrible last season, he's unhittable this season. Who knows for sure.
  2. I think he'll take a one year, 18 million dollar deal from the Yankees and go back to being a free agent at the end of the season.
  3. As much crap as I give Renteria (well deserved in my opinion) if he can get this rag-tag bunch to .500 or so for the year he deserves some Manager of the Year votes. I mean the pitching staff is in shambles, the clean up hitter is batting .180, the "superstar" prospect is at .220 and they are almost last in defense. Yet somehow they are two games under .500. I don't know if that says something about the Sox or about the league in general.
  4. No manager worth a damn would allow himself to take orders from the FO on how he runs his team / game. There's a reason Charlie Finley went through managers like water, they finally would get tired of him calling the dugout and demanding the manager do certain things. I just can't see Rick (who I don't think is a good manager) putting himself in that spot.
  5. I find it hard to imagine the FO is ordering RR to play him every day in order to make them not look as bad (as they would be if he was benched or waived) because I guess the sense Renteria may just say "screw you" and quit. I don't think he'd allow himself to be put in that position because if it happened once it can happen again and again. I'm guessing to a certain extent RR is bullheaded and feels that Alonso will snap out of it. That's my best guess anyway.
  6. Merkin's story on the Sox upcoming draft: https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/white-sox-draft-preview-2019
  7. Probably a little of both and a lot depends on the skill of those doing the developing at the minor league level (i.e. managers / coaches / trainers etc.)
  8. Anyone anywhere in the organization playing "fundamentally sound" baseball is very good to see!
  9. Ugly, ugly game. Glad the Sox got the win after blowing that big lead. Eloy at least had a hit tonight but Alonso and Herrera continue to look brutal, just awful.
  10. I would be nice...but that delivery has been tinkered with so much and at times is so awkward looking that I don't see how he can maintain a consistent release point and I think that's where so much of his issues come from.
  11. Maybe although in Rodon's case he'll probably hurt something else given his track record.
  12. I think he did have a very hot stretch last season for about a month before August if I remember right.
  13. With all the revelations between Eaton and Frazier the fact that Robin didn't do a damn thing about it (and if he did even privately it would have gotten out and been reported) says a hell of a lot about his attitude. The guy didn't want the job in the first place so I guess we shouldn't be totally surprised. It falls on the FO for hiring him in the first place but anyway you slice it, he was pretty bad.
  14. From Scott Merkin's story: "But White Sox manager Rick Renteria said this pain is located more in his right forearm. Burr will be re-evaluated in two weeks." As DJ would say, "Uh-oh..."
  15. Cleveland just scored five in the 9th at Boston which should pick them up a bit.
  16. Perfect Tuesday for me. Sox took a DH (I know it was the Royals but still) and the Cubs got hammered again. Even Yolmer did something baseball worth besides acting like a clown! Only downer, Eloy 0-6. My God he's down to around .206. And Yonder that "terrific" clean up hitter is now at .176 LOL.
  17. Here you go dude. "Release this stuff AND failed first round draft pick." Hope you are happy. Have a good evening.
  18. By the way the Yankees were one of three teams that did have to pay Luxury Tax money along with Boston and the Cubs. I assume that is based on the recent past seasons.
  19. Another blow to those who posted that they thought the Sox pen would be fine moving forward with all the "talent/prospects" in the system. Me thinks not. Fortunately good experienced bullpen options are always available every off season so it shouldn't be a killer to the rebuild. As I posted though I have very little faith any of the players those folks were touting will be anything substantial for the Sox in the future.
  20. They didn't want to go into Luxury Tax territory. Now with at LEAST an additional 30 million a year in revenue that should no longer be an impediment.
  21. Game suspended, to be resumed at 4:40 Chicago time Tuesday with the Sox batting. Fourth game either postponed or suspended this year so far for the Sox. Three of those have been at home. They have also had three other games shortened / completed due to bad weather, one of those was at home (vs. Toronto-5 innings W). Others in New York (7 innings W) and Cleveland (6 innings-L).
  22. PTATC: I must respectfully disagree to a certain extent because ownership is still the same. Said owner has publicly stated many time how he doesn't like to pay for "potential" as in draft picks which is why he fought so hard to change the drafting system. Also this same owner continues to "suggest" who the Sox should be drafting to those in charge of it. (And I've been told that from two different sources.) What's the old saying (paraphrasing) "those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it..."
  23. If only he was as good of a player as he is as a clown.
