  1. July 6, 2007 - The Minnesota Twins scored 32 runs and hammered eight home runs in a day / night twin bill at U.S. Cellular Field winning 20-14 and 12-0. It was a low point for a franchise that was World Series champions less than two years earlier.
  2. But a large number of college basketball "insiders" and media (including Jay Bilas who is very outspoken) have said often the "one and done" issue isn't the cause of the problems in the sport and predict that when the NBA allows high schoolers to come out (2021 is the date most given) nothing will really change. The under the table deals will simply go to the next "level" of players. Their solution is to pay the players and on that I totally agree.
  3. He was the guy Hahn said unless the A's made him part of the deal he wasn't going through with it.
  4. It does take an effort to have to post those every day especially when I'm on the road for football and basketball broadcasts, but I'll think about it. Getting more feedback from board members on this would help the decision one way or the other.

if you wish to make a statement call your ticket rep and say you aren't renewing if you feel the only reason the team is out there is to make money. Not saying you're wrong but it seems strange that you feel the way you do yet have shelled out a lot of money on season tickets for a bad product.
  6. Wow... That's all I've got...just...wow. Rebuild or not, when you get swept by the putrid Royals you've got serious issues. Starting pitching was awful once again and the fact that the Sox don't really have options should be an eye opener, after all this isn't year one of the rebuild.
  7. Hello Auburn!: https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/auburn-expects-a-notice-of-allegations-and-possible-penalties-from-the-ncaa-related-to-bribery-case/
  8. You've put a lot of thought into this. On paper it looks good. I'd be stunned (and thrilled) if they signed the free agents you are advocating though.
  9. Some truth in the last part of your statement but since that was all he got by definition it was "big". And (as you'd expect) he talked a good game with these guys especially Alonso (LOL).
  10. When your best players are injured, when your GM's "big" acquisitions from over the winter taken as a whole are a major failure and when you basically have only two pitchers, the odds are this was going to happen sooner or later. Doesn't make it any easier to take though and even with the four A talent out there, there is no excuse for being so "baseball-stupid" with fundamentals on playing the game.
  11. In this case I agree with you (I know you are being sarcastic in this instance) although you could make the case that knowing how bad of a fielder he is, letting him stay in left field instead of insisting he become a DH could be viewed as a bad decision.
  12. Girardi wants nothing to do with the Sox besides JR wouldn't hire him anyway, he'd want to much money.
  13. Another another shitty outing in all probability.
  14. The Sox are going to get swept by the Kansas City f****** Royals. Unbelievable. Nova with another shit outing against a team not name the Cubs or Indians. These guys may actually lose all 10 games on the road trip.
  15. Who said "storied?" I said funniest moments. And when you've only been to the playoffs five times in almost 40 years you take what you can get. I have plenty (over 400) of notations on This Day In White Sox History. I'd be happy to post those if that's what the board wants. Took me a few years to assemble.
  16. Will be interesting to see how they embarrass themselves tonight.
  17. Long story but sums up the efforts of Portland, Montreal and the Carolina's very well: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/the-business-behind-mlb-expansion-portland-montreal-and-raleigh-taking-different-approaches-to-landing-a-team/
  18. I told you like the Terminator he'd be back.
  19. After tonight's farce I'm reminded of the times this past off season when Rick Hahn (and others) talked about fundamentals and how the Sox had to be better at them. More total bullshit from the master at talking for 10 minutes and not saying one damn thing you can hang your hat on.
  20. Not a trainer but I think that's all in the same area. Either way it would be a bad injury.
  21. Frank Thomas in 2001 blew his out but his was because of a violent hit to the ground as he was diving for a ball hit down the first base line. Anything is possible I guess.
  22. I'd be willing to sell either the owner or the front office right now myself.
  23. Remember in the White Sox organization loyalty is far more important than winning or accountability.
  24. Very true but fundamentals, the ability to do the right things at the right time also play a MAJOR factor in a teams success. You're right, the Sox have little talent but even when they did have it, their stupidity on the field cost them dearly. And that hasn't changed.
  25. Fundamentals win or lose games. The White Sox don't seem to care about them, don't seem to stress them and then when you get games like tonight...outfielders running into each other, guys missing cut offs, errant pick off throws, outfielders taking bad angles / decisions turning hits into extra base hits...nothing is said, nothing is done, no one is held accountable. Same BS we've seen for years. And with respect, please don't give me the "rebuilding" excuse. High school teams know how to do these things, how can "professionals" not be able to? Just sickening tonight to a bad pitcher and a God-awful team.
