  1. Lol, per that tweet, we signed him to a $6.4 trillion bonus...
  2. In your defense, Masset ended up being a pretty good reliever until his injury
  3. The average fan would see Jeter make a diving play on a ball and assume that he's good. In reality, most shortstops would get to said ball routinely, without having to dive. Diehards like you or I can see that Jeter was no good out there, I'm just arguing that the average, casual fan may not be able to identify that. I agree with your last point though.
  4. I feel like he's definitely hated at times for his defense, which has been really good this past month and pretty solid overall this year. The "move him to center field" crowd is still there. He's easily our best/most valuable player, though.
  5. While you're correct, I just don't see that happening because of the sheer amount of good shortstops in the AL
  6. I don't take them as gospel but it's really hard for the common fan to recognize range and the ability to get to balls that the average fielder doesn't get to. They're good at showing that. The eye test is what led people to believe that Derek Jeter was a good defender.
  7. How do Hansen/Rutherford "completely suck"? Anyway, I also would say Viciedo. I wanted him brought back as a full time DH in 2015 rather than LaRoche. LaRoche might have done better than Viciedo would have, really.
  8. Yes, and there's a rumor that Miguel Cabrera aggravated an injury trying to break up the ensuing clubhouse scuffle between Avi and Fielder.
  9. Explanation I got from Fangraphs for Moncada sliding from 5 to 17 for defense:
  10. Tejada Jr still unsigned
  11. If you had it your way Abreu would've been traded in April of 2014. Your irrational hatred for him is honestly astounding, and it's made even more hilarious when he consistently shuts you up with his play
  12. I think there's an error in the site. There shouldn't be such a major change overnight.
  13. Yeah I missed that his offense has improved somewhat. His defense is another story though- improving but still very bad
  14. I mean, how many across baseball have been doing so this year? Juan Soto (still in very limited sample size)? Albies has been garbage for a bit, on both sides of the ball. Torres has been one of the worst defenders in baseball, perhaps the worst other than Machado. Devers has been pretty bad overall. It's not like all of baseball is hitting on their top guys immediately and we're the only ones that are not.
  15. I thought it was good but wanted the 3rd piece to be a little better (not Benintendi better but somewhere in between Benintendi and Basabe). Of course, Basabe has been shutting me up lately...
  16. Nice recovery by Fry. Man he's gonna be a nice guy to have in our pen for the next 6 years
  17. Eloy is batting .300 now
  18. That's not really true. Every first baseman is already X runs below average due to the Fangraphs positional adjustment. He would be below average for sure but not by 18 runs relative to other first basemen. If that's what you meant.
  19. You won't see this talked about since it's not negative, but Anderson has been having a really good few weeks defensively
  20. Avi is actually really fast, wow
  21. I can see Rondon getting optioned, but why would it need to be for a starter? It's not like they'd be on short rest
