  1. Even if he keeps hitting like this, I do think he'll always have value as a defensive wizard in the infield. I thought he could make it as a starter after last year but now he may just be a career super-sub guy.
  2. Didn't know this thread existed. My parents went to NY (when Lin was still there) and Chi and claimed that ChiHam was better. I went to the Chi one in December and loved it, will be returning in June. Unfortunately, I don't think prices are coming down anytime soon, so going again is definitely pricey, but it's worth it. I don't even like musicals, but I loved this.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2017 -> 01:44 AM) Two inning saves are never easy. Melky Cabrera Blooper Reel and no hard hit balls...that said, Robertson's never going to be more than an 80-85% conversion guy whose strikeout totals look impressive but who usually implodes bigly when he does struggle. And he is inarguably overpaid to put up those numbers for a non-elite closer. And apparently Renteria felt that Swarzak had been used too much already in recent weeks...so you're left with Ynoa and Holmberg to close out a game against the heart of their line-up. That's why you don't burn your closer in an extra-inning, tie game when you're the road team and a save opportunity could actually present itself.
  4. QUOTE (jamesdiego @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:07 PM) Isn't Sanchez a good enough defender to play 3rd base? I would play him there if the bat keeps up, Saladino as utility. I always thought of Sanchez as a 2B/SS who doesn't have the arm for 3B. Isn't Saladino/Davidson our go-to "non-Frazier" 3B option?
  5. I'd imagine one of Sanchez/Saladino will eventually stay as a backup IF and the other will be traded (probably not for much, but better than nothing)
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ May 10, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) His numbers are DFA-worthy. Maybe they shouldn't play him until June. Is it safe to say that pitchers have figured him out?
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 8, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) Strange. Must be some back story. Figured he'd be up here before too long. Maybe Charlotte didn't let him take his kid in the clubhouse.
  8. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 7, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) Well, if the 20 year-old Adolfo has perhaps turned a corner and is putting himself on a projectable path to a high ceiling MLB career, and if the team is able to sign the 19 year-old Luis Robert, that could be the makings of some kind of outfield a few years down the road. Don't forget 25 year-old Avisail Garcia. That's like, 30 combined future all-star appearances from an outfield. Ridiculous.
  9. QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ May 5, 2017 -> 07:16 PM) Dunn was s***. Three true outcomes is more forgivable when you're hitting .250 or providing some defensive value. His outcomes were the same, but the ratios weren't. Walks were down, power was down, strikeouts were up. Sunk cost. But seems like ancient history, thank god. His 82 walks/season over his 4 years here made up for his batting average
  10. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ May 5, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) Start time is actually 6:05 PM CDT (Central Daylight Time). CST (Central Standard Time) ended in March. . BOOM.

  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) Lance Broadway Beat me to it. In movies from 2013 onward.
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 3, 2017 -> 01:01 PM) Something weird is going on with Rodon. I was saying this in March when it was announced that he was healthy but resting throughout Spring Training and throughout the season. I really don't know why they're being so secretive with him.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 2, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) I'm actually intrigued to see Covey in the bullpen. I don't think he has what it takes to cut it as a starter in the majors but something might be there as a reliever. What's funny is that we have: Robertson Jones Swarzak Jennings Kahnle Ynoa Putnam Petricka Which, when healthy, is already far too many relievers. This would make it tough for Covey to get any opportunities.
  15. Aside from 2011, he was quite underrated. Had a high OBP and hit home runs. That's what we signed him to do.
