White Sox looking to deal Robertson
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 05:27 PM) If they're not too mad at Hahn for him using them as negotiating leverage in the Sale deal, a deal for Robertson could definitely happen this month, rather than July. Doubt they're too mad, given that they traded with us 26 hours afterwards

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Chuck GarfienVerified account @ChuckGarfien Just like with Sale, White Sox have great leverage with Quintana. Teams trying to win want/need pitching. Quintana is best prize left.

Rick Hahn on ESPN 1000
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 10:30 PM) Some tidbits for anyone interested: - Rick said this is a long process, and that everyone in the organization are aware this is at the beginning. - They are trying to figure out what is the next step is in the process. - Acknowledged that the team tried to plug holes last few years, but unfortunate it didn't work. - These trades put the Sox in a more secure spot than prior offseasons. - These trades are not about trying to patch holes. - They are looking for a high volume of impact guys, and said it is a necessity for long term success. - The idea of a rebuild had been talked about with KW and JR in 2007, 2010, 2013, 2014, & 2015 offseasons but decided now was the opportune time to actually go through with it. - He's eager to get things right and ready to do more moves, however pace needs to be dictated by the market. - Giolito struggled in debut, but said it is not shocking because he's young. Said the Sox, unlike the Nats, have luxury to be patient with his development and allow him to go to Triple-A. - They asked is Hahn felt guilty in Eaton trade and fleecing the Sox did to the Nationals, hahaha! Hahn was professional and sidestepped question mentioning the only guilt was towards Eaton himself because of the circumstances he was being moved. Said he talked to Adam and said it was not the intention to signing him to a long-term deal only to move him. - On if ever dealing with Cubs, Hahn said it is foolish to take option off the table, especially when the team is in another league. - On trading Q, it depends on what the market value is for him. - He realizes that all 7 prospects received will not all hit their ceilings, looking to build a core which is why it is important to keep adding. - Hahn said it's nice to see the Sox logo next to the top prospect rankings. - Again said his wish is to keep rolling and do "another one" today, but cannot force this. - Moving guys could go into the season and next offseason. Again, depends on what the market dictates. I would say judging by what was said, I would be absolutely shocked if the Sox don't make another move. It did not seem like Hahn views Quintana as a long-term piece towards the rebuild either. I think it's almost a guarantee he gets moved before the season starts. Pretty good listen though, don't let my notes stop anyone from taking 14 minutes to hear it. Thank you!

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (ChicagoHeel @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) Guys...I feel like losing Quintana would hurt the most. What is everyone's thoughts on keeping him? Maybe he can be the Ace of the next good Sox team. He and Abreu are definitely my favorite players, but if we get a great return, I would be open to it. I'm sure the organization also feels a special connection with him over Sale, given Quintana's lack of off-field tirades and the fact that they scooped him up from the Yankees' minor league system.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 01:06 AM) Right, but he isn't now. Sickels had him ranked #31 in baseball after the minor league season ended. So now you are talking $38.2M. Using the package I keep harping on.... (And Sickles top 100 rankings) Martes - #19 - $39M Reed - #31 - $38.2M Tucker - #46 - $38.2M Stubbs - NA - Let's just call him $10M? That package right there gives the Sox $125M in surplus value. If Quintana offers $128M in surplus value....well, then I think that's a real fair trade. I'm not a fan of this method of analysis. Prospect rankings are entirely subjective, so attaching a dollar amount to them is only amplifying the opinion of a very small group of people- sometimes just one person, depending on the rankings.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) I take it then you're not sold on Bregman being a potential star?.....that was my point. To me...he seems like as sure a thing as you'll find in a young player. He'll be a good one I think... I think Bregman has the potential to be great. But he also has the potential to be, well, not great. As highly as I think of him, a 1-1 with Quintana is not something I'd be interested, given that Quintana is a proven ace and Bregman is still a prospect. Of course, having Bregman in a deal would diminish the rest of the return, but I would still like another couple of lower level prospects with him.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 07:04 PM) I would. There will be people who feel we didn't get enough back...but if you get a return of 3 prospects...and 2 of them turn out to be crap...what's the point?!? I'd rather take that risk than take the 1-1 risk.

Catcher
QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) I like Hank Conger. Good with pitchers, solid framer, has pop, switch hitter, no arm though. I only know him for that fight with Odor.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) Nate Jones has entered a game in the 9th inning and blown a save exactly zero times in his career. /argument

Filling The Gaps
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) I'm probably overreacting, but I feel like if Hahn deals Quintana and Abreu OR Frazier, this team may not win 55 games. That's a good thing. #TankForBeer #BeerMe #BlowForBeer (Seth Beer, projected #1 2018 draft pick)

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 03:29 PM) They're going to do 7S before 8. This happens every year lol. QUOTE (MEANS @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 12:07 PM) no next year will be 10 years since the first iPhone was released so they will be doing a big overhaul and it will be the 8. Yeah, I believe they're calling it the 8 since it will be a major improvement rather than a marginal 'S' improvement. IMO, the iPhone 7 is more of a 6S^2 than a 7

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) Anything specifically? I've been considering getting an iPhone, but want to make it worth it. It's either that or the Pixel for me. This video sums it up best:

Oddly quiet this morning. I'm still expecting a deal for us today, regardless of how quiet the Thursday of meetings usually is.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 08:41 AM) For Q, I'd want Martes, Tucker, Perez, and Stubbs. I think a dark horse to watch for Q is Colorado. Have a roster capable of going to the playoffs now, need a TOR starter and maybe some pen help. Anyone think you could do Q & Robertson/Jones for Rodgers/Dahl, Hoffman, Tapia, and Murphy? If we got any of Rodgers, Dahl, Tapia, or Murphy (whether in a package for Quintana, Abreu, Frazier, or a reliever), I'd be elated. Those guys have great potential.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
For Q + Frazier, I'd like Martes, Fisher, K. Tucker, and P. Tucker. Maybe add Musgrove or Reed.

Random but I didn't know we signed this guy. He looks like he could have some potential.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 08:18 AM) The Sox only have 29 players on their AAA roster. They could potentially take 8 guys in this phase... Are you including guys like Moncada, Giolito, Lopez, etc?

Filling The Gaps
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) I see the 2017 White Sox team with one of the worse offenses in MLB. Runs are going to be scarce this year. If they trade Frazier + Abreu things will only get worse. The team has already made 2 trades neither of which has improved the team offensively for the 2017 season. The 2016 team scored 3 or less runs in half their games. Does anybody think it will be better in 2017? I certainly don't see the team signing any free agents like EE from Toronto. I wouldn't be surprised to see thee 2017 payroll half of what it was in 2016. I don't think anyone really cares about the 2017 offense because this team won't contend until 2019 at the earliest. 2017 should be viewed as a tanking year for Seth Beer.

Adam Eaton Appreciation Thread
Since I started the Sale one too Eaton was only on the team for 3 years but man was it nice to have a solid, consistent bat in the leadoff spot with sneaky power, speed, high OBP, great defense and a ridiculous arm. He'll be missed.

Chapman back to Yankees
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) The Cubs certainly think so. I think they could've easily won without him

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Looks like no Quintana trade tonight. Oh well.
