  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 25, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) Zobrist has played poorly and has been on the DL. I'd give up something like what we gave up for Youkilis, which would be something like Leury and Scott Carroll. Buehrle isn't having all that great a year and getting paid plenty. I'd give up something like...Myles Jaye and Cleto for him. Problem is then you'd have to figure out what to do with Danks. Lucroy has been hurt, but you still demand something in terms of trade value, but you can't trade for last year's production. Something like Eddy Alvarez, Jace Fry, Davidson and one of Micah/Sanchez. Revised offer of Montas, Alvarez and Davidson. For Rosario I'd offer Trayce Thompson, Fry, Davidson and Nolan Sanburn. Can I see Hahn doing 2012 push for the playoffs type trading? Yes. But Don't expect big splashy pieces other than maybe Rosario or Lucroy. Untouchables for me would be Danish, Anderson and Adams. Zobrist would be a rental since he is a FA next year. Sox should not be involved in rentals based on their poor start.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) Well, obviously they're stuck with Ramirez until he heats up, and there's nobody ready to play SS in the system until 2017 anyway...and that's a HUGE if in Tim Anderson, who's still more likely to end up at 2B or LF from quite a few reports. (If we are out of it at some point, it would be nice to see what Saladino could do...well, just because he seems to be a good kid and has overcome a lot). Of course, Melky Cabrera will probably be blocking the playing time of youngsters like Anderson and Hawkins by that point. (Then again, we should probably expect the worst since the whole "we haven't produced a position player since Rowand/Crede/Ordonez/Lee thing" unless you count Marcus Semien). Semien may be worse defensively at SS than Johnson was at 2B
  3. quote name='Greg Hibbard' date='May 24, 2015 -> 06:06 PM' post='3167764'] No, really, they don't. It's early days still. At the very minimum, they need to stay within 2-3-4 games of .500 for the next few weeks and hope KC and Detroit come back to earth a bit. At 70 games if they are 34-36, would you still rule them out? My answer would be "it depends on what record KC and Detroit have at that time." If either of those teams runs away and hides with this thing, it doesn't matter if the white sox win 77 or 93 games. We aren't seeing postseason play. I think there's very good starting pitching talent and enough hitting to make a run. Defense is still my main concern. I also think there is enough hitting to make a run. There was today. But they need probably 4-5 runs each game to win.............................
  4. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 22, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) I think if you put Sanchez in the two hole he may be a little bit more patient. He's a smart baseball guy. Your kidding right??? Some genius in this organization called up Sanchez while he was in a slump in Charlotte. Besides his average dropping over 60 points, in 3 weeks his biggest problem all year in Charlotte was he seldom walks. He had 4 the first 6 weeks and none the last 3. But he was called up for defense so we now have a guy who won't hit his weight. He is not patient at the plate. Johnson wasn't ready defensively and Sanchez is not ready offensively.
  5. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 18, 2015 -> 12:47 AM) You know we could pretty much end Cleveland's season with a 4 game sweep. Wouldn't that be tasty. We are 4 games ahead of them. If they sweep us, would that pretty much end our season????
  6. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 17, 2015 -> 12:26 AM) But then you watch Sanchez play late inning D tonight and go "Damn!!!". Dude belongs. Actually the timing is good. Now that Eaton seems to be hitting, the Sox can live w the 9th batter being a defensive spot.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 16, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) I wouldn't fault Ventura for benching Avi after that play. Time someone sets an example for these miscues. Good he didn't.
  8. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 15, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) This is being really overthought. Micah: Showed promise Bad defense Great speed Patient batter Below average numbers Carlos: Has hit in limited big league time Destroying AAA Good defender Will likely show better consistency with bat Micah needs tons of reps, especially on defense. Charlotte is a good place for that. Carlos gives us better defense and likely a better bat. Again, you need to look at his stats. He was not destroying AAA. He had a great April and first couple of days in May. But since then he hit .222 over the last 2 weeks so his average dropped 60 points. All year he has a very poor BB/SO. Hopefully we see the April hitter and not ther May one.
  9. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ May 15, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) That's great, but why didn't you just say that instead of posting factually incorrect information? You said "in the month of May" several times but nothing about his last 10 games until now. Sorry. His stats page showed from 5/3 till 5/13. I thought it was the Month of May but they only show a player's last 10 games.
  10. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ May 15, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) He's cooled down as of late, but I'm not sure where you're getting your information from. Look at your post. In his last 10 games going back to 5/3 he has hit .222.
  11. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ May 14, 2015 -> 08:27 PM) What are you talking about? Sanchez is hitting .352 in the month of May. It's common knowledge that Sanchez has been tearing up AAA since his demotion, though he's cooled off lately, has an unsustainable BABiP, and rarely walks. Not sure what you are talking about. He tore up AAA in April. Sanchez is 10/45 in May for a .222 BA w no walks. His average in May has dropped from .407 to .344 in two weeks.
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 14, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) Yea but we're trying to win this year. The FO feels we can win and I agree with them. While not overmatched at the plate, MJ's D has cost us some serious runs so far. I can think of like 10 off the top of my head and I haven't watched every game. And it's not just those plays...it's the fact that those plays have lead to our SPs having extended innings causing them to get shelled. We're going to be tight up the middle now and I think it'll be huge. CS just needs to foul off pitches with the bat and stay above .300 with the OBP. Based om his performance in May at Charlotte, hitting .222 and no walks, .300 OBP will be difficult to attain. His OBP last fall w the call-up. was .269. Hopefully he hits .250 but provides outstanding defense.
  13. This sounds like strictly a defensive change because Sanchez has been in a slump all of May. He also has a terrible BB/SO ratio but he was hitting for average early on. Sounds like Beckham will be playing a bigger role
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 13, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) It only took 6 weeks to figure they needed more defense. Well, better late than never. Now you can do the obvious thing and exchange Micah for Sanchez. Bonifacio isn't that great at 2B. I am guessing Sanchez will not be up any time soon. He is having a bad month of May both in batting average and strikeouts.
  15. I have posted on this site several times that I think the White Sox attendance issues is they do not have enough corporate sponsorship to supplement the walk up crowds. Who do you think is paying $50+ per ticket in Boston and New York? I am not even talking about corporate boxes. Businesses buy up many of the grandstand seats and use them for client and employee incentives.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 11, 2015 -> 10:54 PM) Does he miss the dugout? It's addictive and these guys have huge egos. Sox fans would worship him like Cub fans worship Maddon. Jerry will want Ozzie back. Hopefully Joey Cora is available as well.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2015 -> 12:04 AM) Sox are in no danger of moving. They'll draw 20,000 to 25000 on the average this year, so why fret? If the team ever gets good again people will come. That is assured. As long as the Sox want to remain this weird dysfunctional baseball team, Jeckyll/Hyde if you will, screw 'em. They'll still make money with the TV deal and the 20000 to 25,000 average attendance. I actually wonder if winning will solve the problem. The White Sox have been a losing team but they have 2 of the top stars of the game in Abreu and Sale. Now obviously Sale only goes every 5th day but last year Abreu was a stud and yet attendance declined. Good news is attendance is up a few thousand this year but they are still one of the worst drawing teams in baseball.
  18. Trade him for a young starting catcher and an outfielder.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 10, 2015 -> 05:13 PM) No he was not needed yesterday so he is pitching back to back days for no reason ..........called common sense HUH! If your closer can't pitch back to back, he ain't much of a closer.
  20. I see this "message" as a sign to the fans that Robin has been warned. My gut says Robin is here for the season but if improvement doesn't happen, he is gone. Management will then say that we asked RV to be more hands-on, it didn't help so we have no choice but to make a change.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 8, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) Looks like pretty bad weather heading toward the cell tonight. Wonder if it will be a long delay or a PPD Looks like Bulls game is also cancelled due to rain..................................
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) Boston fired Nieves. When are the White Sox going to show some accountability and fire their pitching coach for this hot mess? Nieves also was pitching coach when they won WS in 2013. But Boston has totally redone their staff since 2013 and not for the better. Boston media says you can't fire the pitching staff so the coach is the scapegoat.
  23. Red Sox fired Juan Nieves. Now Sox can fire Robin and name Coop interim manager and bring back Nieves as pitching coach..................................
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ May 7, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) interesting point you bring up. lets see. there are a 162 games in a season, the played including this game 26 games, that will leave 136 games, lets assume 50% wins should be a nice number, that is 68 wins, 68 plus 10 win already that should leave a record of 78. wins in a worst case scenario for the season. its a far cry from what i was predicting but i will let you decide. I predicted the Sox would be a .500 team. 78 would be a little less than that.
  25. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 7, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) Again, an indication that a change should probably be made in the clubhouse. Not even those jerks at Baseball Prospectus thought they'd be this bad! Vegas predicted 81.5 for maximum wins. That would be around a .500 record whcih to me is pretty realistic.
