Greg Walker ~ What have we learned?
QUOTE (Tex @ May 6, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) Walker has been gone three years and ZERO playoff appearances. With Walker World Series WIN! Is playoffs and world series the best way to judge the effectiveness of an individual coach? Yes. Ozzie, coop and walker should have been given contracts for life.............................................................

Why does *any* member of the White Sox front office deserve their job?
QUOTE (oldsox @ May 4, 2015 -> 08:49 AM) On the subject of ineffective Managers, the Brewers just fired Ron Roenicke. Add him to the list of available manager candidates.

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Well, they're definitely not going to fire Hahn or replace 10-12 players in the middle of the season. Agree but this is a lot worse than mental mistakes. You have a bunch of key players unperforming. Starting pitching and the offense both are lousy. Funny but the defense has actually been better than the last 2 years and the bullpen has done a good job.

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 3, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) I wana see a new manager. I think we have contending team they just need managed and coached better. They make way too many mental mistakes. That's on the manager. In the prediction thread I think many of us predicted this team would not make the playoffs. They are worst than expected though. But when you have the worst offensive team in the AL in numerous categories, that is not mental mistakes.

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
QUOTE (LDF @ May 3, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) wow, nice word.... i got to look that one up. The problem with firing a manager in the middle of a season, is that you are mostly limited to in-house replacements or guys out of jobs. Even guys out of jobs are going to want some security for a few years to right the ship. Now there could be someone w a ton of baggage out of a job and then the Sox would have some leverage. The other problem with an interim manager is it could have a negative impact on the young players. Having 3 managers in the course of a year telling a young player to do 3 different things can be a big problem with certain players. As far as Cooper goes, he should not be the interim. He needs to stay focused on the young pitchers. My guess is that if the Sox bring in a new manager next year, he may want his own pitching coach. I think the best bet is you ride Robin out for the year and make a change in the offseason. Certainly a team w Abreu, Sale and Rodon alone will attract some quality candidates.

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 2, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Well, the counterargument to that is Matheny and Ausmus...but it just seems catchers always make the best managers. Not surprisingly, catching is one of the team's most glaring weaknesses, ever since AJ left. AJ is available and he is the opposite personality wise of Robin. Since he ia a catcher, he should be named manager. It certainly would generate some wild scenes in the clubhouse.

5/2 - White Sox vs Twins
Would have liked to see Beckham get the start since he has been one of the few who has been hot offensively.

4/30: White Sox at Twins, no crowd due to Age of Ultron
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) Sox are worst team in AL right now not even close. Minnesota is the worst team in AL right now not even close.

4/30: White Sox at Twins, no crowd due to Age of Ultron
I know this sets up the left/right/left lineup to perfection ( FWIW). But I also like your best hitter batting 3rd not 4th. Hopefully we don't see Jose leading off to many innings.

4/29: Sox vs Orioles, WPWR50, free MLB.com, 1PM
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:23 PM) Sox are next to last in the AL in homers. This lineup just doesn't have any power outside of Abreu and LaRoche. It's hard to win a lot of games when you have minimal power and very few high OBP guys. Also last in RBI, BB SH, SF and SB. Worse, today's game is going to really affect our road attendance numbers. Some of the bad numbers can be attributed to the fact we have also played at least 2 games less than every team.

Sale and Samardzija Suspended 5 Games
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) No, just threw his name in there as the guy to pitch because of the suspensions. Could be Erik Johnson or somebody else. But the point being, they need one start to be covered during the suspensions. Hopefully they pitch and just drop the appeal the next day. I thought he might start the suspended game. But I wonder if they would be afraid to start Rodon after the other night. Tthe Sox may be concerned if he starts and is wild again, what do they do next with him. They may want to see him get a couple of successful relief appearances under his belt.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Samardzija is starting Monday; Sale on Tuesday in Baltimore. Doesn't Sale suck in Baltimore? C'mon. Sale is our ace. Be confident he can beat anyone anywhere.

4/23 - White Sox vs. Royals 7:10 CST
QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) The fact that we have penciled in Sale winning the opener worries me. With Sale, I use pen not pencil. He is 5-0 in March/April the last 2 years.

4/23 - White Sox vs. Royals 7:10 CST
We know Sale will win the opener. After that it is a 3 game series.

Pitching match-ups for White Sox/Royals series
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:31 AM) I'll say this. I realize the KC pitchers have our number and quite easily could throw four great games and stifle the Sox. But seriously, all four of those guys are hittable. Ventura is AWESOME, yet he can throw a straight fastball that gets blasted. He's been hit. Ditto Duffy. He gives up runs. And it goes without saying you should be able to hit their other two starters. If Sox lose 3 of 4 or all four it will be very disappointing to me. But 3 out of 4 of our pitchers are also hittable. So they could win 3 of 4.

Attendance 2015
Another way to look at this is the Cubs are averaging about 2,000 less fans per game versus last year's avg. The Sox are averaging about 2,000 more. So 2,000 Cub fans have seen the light and been converted. Hallelujah!!!

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 01:05 AM) i am not going to be making this about anyone but me, but i am wondering, was i wrong about this team? going into the season, i was sure, this team as assembled, would be doing better, much better. i think, looking at the roster on paper, they have the horses to get it done, but where is the problem? Wait a minute, it's stopped raining. Guys are swimming, guys are sailing Playing baseball, gee that's better Muddah, faddah kindly disregard this letter.

Carlos Rodon's Major League Debut
QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 11:31 PM) I think this whole situation is like the Cubs calling up Bryant and then having him not start but come in to pinch hit in the 7th down a run with a man on third and telling him to do a suicide squeeze. Actually the national media made a big deal of Bryant coming into his first game and batting 4th. mentioned all the pressure and how rare it is for a player to hit 4th in his first MLB game. Obviously he showed the pressure and how he performed his 1st start.

4/21- White Sox vs Indians 7:10 PM CT
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) His arsenal is a fastball and a slider. His changeup is a work in progress. So lots of fastballs and when he gets ahead sliders. If he cant throw either for a strike, then the playbook is out the door. Its not like they didnt catch the kid a bunch of times in spring training. He was jacked up and his command was s***. It happens. Agree but Coop is not letting Flowers call the pattern. Watch how often Flowers looks over to the dugout. His head looks like a swivel.

4/21- White Sox vs Indians 7:10 PM CT
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) Just so you know, the bench does not call pitches. You can bet that Coop gave Flowers instructions on what he wants the kid to throw. Rodon is way too important to let Flowers call his game before he really understands his arsenal.

4/21- White Sox vs Indians 7:10 PM CT
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:20 PM) Confidence in this organization. You don't think he's going to look back on his performance, as all athletes do, and not wonder why in the hell he was put in when he was? Pissed he's coming out of the pen? How did it affect Sale???

4/21- White Sox vs Indians 7:10 PM CT
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Stop calling for fastballs every time when he's clearly struggling with fastball command pls Tyler Tyler's calling the pitches??? Sorry but Coop is calling the pitches. This kid is a big investment.

4/21- White Sox vs Indians 7:10 PM CT
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 11:35 AM) Being able to use them more as match up guys has been a huge advantage for Ventura. Having a decent bench has been a good thing. Gordon needs to play every day until he cools off. Strike while the Beckham is hot.
