  1. I know this sets up the left/right/left lineup to perfection ( FWIW). But I also like your best hitter batting 3rd not 4th. Hopefully we don't see Jose leading off to many innings.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:23 PM) Sox are next to last in the AL in homers. This lineup just doesn't have any power outside of Abreu and LaRoche. It's hard to win a lot of games when you have minimal power and very few high OBP guys. Also last in RBI, BB SH, SF and SB. Worse, today's game is going to really affect our road attendance numbers. Some of the bad numbers can be attributed to the fact we have also played at least 2 games less than every team.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) No, just threw his name in there as the guy to pitch because of the suspensions. Could be Erik Johnson or somebody else. But the point being, they need one start to be covered during the suspensions. Hopefully they pitch and just drop the appeal the next day. I thought he might start the suspended game. But I wonder if they would be afraid to start Rodon after the other night. Tthe Sox may be concerned if he starts and is wild again, what do they do next with him. They may want to see him get a couple of successful relief appearances under his belt.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Samardzija could pitch Monday and serve Tuesday-Saturday Sale pitches Tuesday and serves Wednesday-Sunday Baltimore- Samardzija, Sale, Noesi Minnesota- Quintana, Rodon, Danks, Samardzija off Monday Detroit- Sale, Noesi, Quintana Cincinnati- Samardzija, Danks/Rodon, Sale at Milwaukee- Noesi, Quintana, Samardzija Did they say Rodon will start????
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Samardzija is starting Monday; Sale on Tuesday in Baltimore. Doesn't Sale suck in Baltimore? C'mon. Sale is our ace. Be confident he can beat anyone anywhere.
  6. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 10:32 PM) What more can you ask from quintana can he hit???
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) The fact that we have penciled in Sale winning the opener worries me. With Sale, I use pen not pencil. He is 5-0 in March/April the last 2 years.
  8. We know Sale will win the opener. After that it is a 3 game series.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:31 AM) I'll say this. I realize the KC pitchers have our number and quite easily could throw four great games and stifle the Sox. But seriously, all four of those guys are hittable. Ventura is AWESOME, yet he can throw a straight fastball that gets blasted. He's been hit. Ditto Duffy. He gives up runs. And it goes without saying you should be able to hit their other two starters. If Sox lose 3 of 4 or all four it will be very disappointing to me. But 3 out of 4 of our pitchers are also hittable. So they could win 3 of 4.
  10. Another way to look at this is the Cubs are averaging about 2,000 less fans per game versus last year's avg. The Sox are averaging about 2,000 more. So 2,000 Cub fans have seen the light and been converted. Hallelujah!!!
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 01:05 AM) i am not going to be making this about anyone but me, but i am wondering, was i wrong about this team? going into the season, i was sure, this team as assembled, would be doing better, much better. i think, looking at the roster on paper, they have the horses to get it done, but where is the problem? Wait a minute, it's stopped raining. Guys are swimming, guys are sailing Playing baseball, gee that's better Muddah, faddah kindly disregard this letter.
  12. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 11:31 PM) I think this whole situation is like the Cubs calling up Bryant and then having him not start but come in to pinch hit in the 7th down a run with a man on third and telling him to do a suicide squeeze. Actually the national media made a big deal of Bryant coming into his first game and batting 4th. mentioned all the pressure and how rare it is for a player to hit 4th in his first MLB game. Obviously he showed the pressure and how he performed his 1st start.
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:29 PM) His arsenal is a fastball and a slider. His changeup is a work in progress. So lots of fastballs and when he gets ahead sliders. If he cant throw either for a strike, then the playbook is out the door. Its not like they didnt catch the kid a bunch of times in spring training. He was jacked up and his command was s***. It happens. Agree but Coop is not letting Flowers call the pattern. Watch how often Flowers looks over to the dugout. His head looks like a swivel.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) Just so you know, the bench does not call pitches. You can bet that Coop gave Flowers instructions on what he wants the kid to throw. Rodon is way too important to let Flowers call his game before he really understands his arsenal.
  15. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:20 PM) Confidence in this organization. You don't think he's going to look back on his performance, as all athletes do, and not wonder why in the hell he was put in when he was? Pissed he's coming out of the pen? How did it affect Sale???
  16. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Stop calling for fastballs every time when he's clearly struggling with fastball command pls Tyler Tyler's calling the pitches??? Sorry but Coop is calling the pitches. This kid is a big investment.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 11:35 AM) Being able to use them more as match up guys has been a huge advantage for Ventura. Having a decent bench has been a good thing. Gordon needs to play every day until he cools off. Strike while the Beckham is hot.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 08:27 AM) That was a sweet win. I have heard the Indians have quite an advantage in the AL Central from the managerial position. Leaving Aviles in CF and letting your closer give up 6 hits would be considered a fireable offense in these parts. How about that Robin Ventura!!! Made great moves putting in Flowers and Beckham and pitched his closer in the ninth to hold the deficit at 3 so we could come back and catch them.
  19. Robin was awesome tonight. Pulled all the right strings..........................
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 10:41 PM) Thing is, I don think Boston would give up both Betts and Swihart for anyone. Betts would fit right in. He isn't even batting his weight so far.
  21. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 08:30 AM) Sanchez has a high average, but that will come screaming down. His BABIP is .615. He has a 7 to 1 K to BB ratio. He has gotten off to a strong start, but it is most because he is getting lucky. The organization is in better shape if Micah Johnson is the guy because of his much higher ceiling. You have got to give Johnson time. It's been barely 10 games for him, not even close to being enough time to make an educated decision. I agree you stick w Micah. But how did you come to the conclusion that Sanchez success is" most because he is getting lucky" ???
  22. There are two types of White Sox posters on this site. Those who live in the Chicago area and those who live thoughout the world. I have been a fan since the late 50's while always following from a distance. I was totally confused and bulls*** over the MLB Comcast feed I saw last Friday here in Florida. While watching the Hawk/Stone feed of a great pitching duel, I was stunned to see the feed switch to the Cubs game to see Bryant's at bats during his ML debut. Is Chicago baseball in that bad a state??? I was thrilled to see him strike out but doing this was bussh league. If between innings they showed updates, fine. Will they be interrupting Bulls or Blackhawk games to cut away to see Bryant or Rodon live next week??? I assume Hahn called Rodon up based on a plan and not in response to the Bryant BS on display Friday. I will admit I have no clue how Comcast fits in to Sox/Cubs TV rights.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 08:40 PM) So if you didn't see the replay and the guys looking at the reply said he missed the tag, you are going to challenge. Sure. The fact is Robin was a victim of apparently bad information. If the replay guys had the angle we saw him make the tag, they need to be replaced. If they had what appears to be the rest of the Sox feed as both radio and TV said he missed, then it would be understandable. What I don't understand is why the Sox replay guys wouldn't have all the angles that are officially used. As for Alexei, he campaigned for several replays last season that didn't quite go as he thiught. And make a f***ing tag. I also wonder why the White Sox video crew did not have the definitive video. Same case arose during the NCAA Tourney where the refs did not have the same video feed on a controversial out of bounds call that the TV was showing.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) It's sickening. manger checklist: 1) team looks sharp (epic fail, keystone cops on the bases, no patience as a lineup, constant mental miscues) 2) don't actively make game losing tactical decision (epic fail, bunts with 2 on no out even with two strikes, makes an inexcusable no challenge today) 3) handle media and don't throw guys under the bus (blames replay team postgame) EPIC FAIL 3 STRIKES YOU'RE OUT SUCKER. 1. should be -----make sure there is plenty of food.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 06:01 PM) We'd be very angry at Alexei Ramirez for missing the tag. We'd then be angry at Robin for not walking the batter after the bunt to try to set up a possible game-saving double play. Why would you just walk one??? You should walk the next 2 so you set up a force at home or doubleplay starting at any base.
