  1. I don't think Schaumburg production means a whole lot. But I also think making decisions on a rookie after 109 MLB at bats also doesn't make sense.
  2. FWIW--I saw an article on him that said he is playing 3rd in AAA but most likely the injuries will relegate him to DH/IB down the road.
  3. I actually think Burger has little trade value until he puts in a year at AAA to show he has bounced back.
  4. I see Boston a lot and I think their starting pitching is mediocre. They have a great closer and average pen. I think our combined pitching staff is better than Boston's.
  5. With all the distractions, Rodon struck out 13 Yankees in 6 innings last night. I guess he didn't get the memo
  6. With all the games against the AL Central, we will be fine.
  7. Putting aside TLR's use of the bullpen. I was wondering if managers are changing their thinking w closers. Some teams use their closer in the 9th in a tie game and others wait until a close opportunity arises. In some situations, the batting order may come into play as a manager may use the closer in top of 9th in a tie game if the meat of the order is due up. But I wonder if the 10th inning w a runner at 2nd will start to change how a closer is used. Foe example, a manager that likes to use his closer in a tie game in the 9th ( home or away} may think it is better using him in the 10th ( if the game goes that far) since there is more pressure in the 10th w the runner on 2nd.
  8. Heuer has pitched 6 innings in May and given up 12 hits and 6 earned runs. I think you can flip a coin between him and Marshall.
  9. Both teams played to lose in that exchange of not scoring
  10. Score now so we don't have to get into that runner on 2nd in 10th.
  11. Grueling means "extremely tiring and demanding. It does not have to be just physical activity. It can also be mental activity as well. We have seen hospital staff experience it in all different levels of positions this year including clerical workers.
  12. In the last 7 days, Leury has more hits than Collins-Vaughn-Mendick combined.
  13. But the only grades that count toward graduation are JR's.
  14. Agree. This is pretty much a young team and we had the chance to find a manager who could relate and grow with this group. Instead we now hope "inspite of......................"
  15. In all fairness, I am sure almost every manage/coach including TLR has cost his team games with bad decisions, poor player management, shitty lineups etc. Which is why in every sport you see many coaches who get chased out of a town by fans and/or the front office are back coaching in another town down the road. TT will probably get coach of the year in NBA and is the toast of NY but he still might want to rent and not buy.
  16. Of course La Russa said the situation was handled appropriately. But he screwed it up. Many media reports said it should have been handled in the manage's office not in the press. I saw this morning where Alex Cora, who is a close friend to TLR , when asked said Tony was wrong.
  17. I don't think the Twins will retaliate. This in not a situation where Mercedes injured the opponent's player and Minny did send a message to Yermin.
  18. All over the Boston market the last couple of days.
  19. German: Great find. I looked it up and he got ejected. That was after he got brushed back
  20. Like many of us said about another Tony, give it behind closed doors. Hopefully TLR and Yermin are assigned seats together on the NY charter.
  21. Tony: You just posted 5 minutes ago "I don’t need to have any further discussion about it. It ends there. "
  22. Agree there are some in every sport. Players taking a slap shot at a goalie after the whistle on an offside. Basketball players not taking last second shots in blowouts. I do think a runner going hard into a SS/2B in a blowout is a worse offense.
  23. I am amazed that through the years that when a pitcher throws at a player, I have never seen the batter let his bat go toward the mound on the next pitch. Probably has happened but I have seen plenty of batters thrown at and none retaliated w a thrown bat
  24. Tony: That makes no sense. 557 players before him, who I also assume got paid, declined to do this until Mercedes did. I think it is fair to say some were HOF calibre, some were rookie and some were bench players. But an unwritten rule, by it's nature, can be broken if a player chooses. TLR should have just handled it privately w the player and if questioned by the media gave a no comment. Unfortunately the NY media will love this crap w the Sox in town this weekend.
  25. Not sure that will happen. I doubt JR even know who Yermin is and Hahn probably headed fr the tall grass.
