Teahen tracking for that 9-HR, 42-RBI season. A real dazzler.

Reasons we can catch the Twins
Color me unconvinced we can stay ahead of Royals and Indians. That's a more reasonable question at this point.

is Thornton available today? Why is the bullpen short?

5/16 Games
Can Charlotte be more of a hitters' park that The Cell? Can he actually be worse than Kotsay or about a half-dozen other guys we keep trotting out there?

Ozzie convinced he'd get another job if fired
Can't imagine Gardenhire or Francona or Scioscia even talking about something like this. dumb. just manage the team and play the games. With some of the crap he's pulled this season, just wonder if he would like to get fired.

Ozzie please resign, I know you can't sit through this again
Teahen, Kotsay and Jones are a robust 2 for 29 with three total bases. And the new and improved running game is three for six. Kenny needs to take a Louisville Slugger into Ozzie's offense and remind him: This is the American League -- before we're a dozen games out.

Teahen's struggles...
if it makes everybody feel better, Chris Getz is hitting .154 with two extra base hits and Josh Fields .214 with one home run in 28 at bats. Looks like BA has hit his way into their lineup with his Cycle performance. And Pods ....375 with a .423 obp.

Checking the temperature of Soxtalk
not a fan of the Jones/Kortsay/Vizquel/Nix DH rotation. Don't think we have enough pop. not convinced Rios will bounce back. not convinced Garcia is ready to deliver in the five-hole over a complete season. And I have lost faith in Jenks and Linebrink -- and need to see proof Putz is healthy.

Dye says "crowded outfield" prolonged his slump
JD will never be forgotten for what he did in 2005. He gave the Sox many good moments and years. He might even bounce back and have a decent season. But he's kidding himself if he really believes a crowded outfield caused his off year. All he had to do was put together three or four good games and he would have never left the lineup. didn't happen. Time to move on -- for the Sox and Dye.

Dye says "crowded outfield" prolonged his slump
Less than two weeks before the start of spring training, JD (one of my favorites) has gone on the PR offensive about his lack of free-agent offers. He did this interview with Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, insisting that he can still hit, that he's willing to play left field or first base and that when the Sox outfield got crowded with the arrival of Alex Rios last year that it helped to prolong his slump. “It all boils down to once we got crowded in the outfield and I started playing every couple of days,” Dye said. “Before we got crowded, I was already in a couple-weeks slump. It was just a situation that built up. “Having everyone rotate between the outfield and DH, doing all that, I think it made it that much tougher than being in the lineup every day, trying to work your way out of a slump. It just kind of piled up and piled up.” I don't remember JD's playing time getting reduced that dramatically. When Rios first arrived, I suspect his nose got out of joint because the Sox were investing $60 million in a guy who lacked his track record. Here's the link. It's an interesting read: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Rosenth...t-signed-021010

More Royals Available
Olivo, I believe, did have issues with Ozzie. Can't see him walking through that door. Hasn't Crisp been hurt several times in recent years. We have enough issues problems with CQ.

Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields
I believe Retherford stole three bases last season. He's a different kind of player than Getz. had 46 doubles, so considerably more pop. They have never seemed thrilled with Getz, probably more because of his fielding than his bat, IMO. I just don't see Teahen having the bat to play a top level third base or RF.

Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields
where are they going to get the money to sign polanco? bigger issue is fixing the freaking bullpen.

Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields
Teahen hits well against us, but against everybody else ... not so much. he doesn't have the profile of a power-hitting corner outfielder. His RBI totals are ultra lite. His walk total are in decline. I would have preferred to keep Getz. Maybe Kenny Williams has his eyes on ... Orlando Hudson, who lost his place in the Dodgers' lineup to Ronnie Belliard.

Arizona Fall League
make that 4 for 4. A single by Retherford to go with his bomb.

heard Danks just added another single against Strasburg. Sox hitters 3 for 3 against him.

9/13 Sox @ LAA - 2:35pm CSN - Buehrle vs. Kazmir
Wasn't Kazmir the starting pitcher for Tampa during the perfecto? Gave up the slam to Fields?

SoxNet: What the Sox Got In Return
Stunned we got anything for Jose. If this guy can be a fifth starter or middle reliever, it's a plus. But a 26 year old in A ball is a guy who will never see charlotte, much less Chicago. So it goes. Morel or Dayan will be the 3B eventually.

Dye, Thome, Linebrink + others Available
