  1. Some of this is leaguewide. Manfred keeps messing with things — sticky stuff, changing the ball, humidors etc. with next to no Spring to adjust, Sox right field heavy approach does not work with deadened ball.
  2. I would sign Andrus. He’s not good, but Sosa is not ready and needs ABs in AAA. Keep Romy, sign Andrus, pinch hit when necessary. Cut Harrison and Andrus at end of year.
  3. This seems about right to me. One interesting question on philosophies -- would you rather have a couple of impact talents or a lot of depth. The Cubs, for instance, have had no break outs this year, but they have depth throughout. The Sox have a decided lack of depth, especially on the mound, but Montgomery, Colas, Ramos, and Sosa all profile ahead of Pete Crow-Armstrong and Brennan Davis offensively at this point. Clearly, the rankings factor in depth at a fairly high level, but winning in the majors requires the farm to produce impact players. I think the Cardinals are a great example of a deep farm system that produces a lot of big league contributors.
  4. Kanny and WS lost by a combined 20-2. WS having a rough week.
  5. Another HR for Popeye.
  6. Rough pitching night. So far, the four full season teams have given up 29 runs and Birmingham has barely started.
  7. Is Maldonado that good at framing? Seems like the Astros have gotten a metric ton of strike calls in this series.
  8. Might be my favorite banner yet. Great job!!!
  9. Good for him, but I can think of another lefthanded-hitting corner of I would rather see promoted.
  10. I am not particularly hopeful about Stiever. As was pointed out, he got ripped in AAA before the injury and has not pitched almost a year after lat surgery. By comparison, McDougal and Pallette both had TJS. The prognosis from that procedure is pretty good and so far neither of them has reported any setbacks. McDougal is already throwing. I feel way more confident that McDougal and Pallette will have a chance to be mlb starters than Stiever, although it is always wie to bet the under on any prospect's chances of making it.
  11. They seem light on a ton of guys in this system. Throwing a 55 on Montgomery and a 50 on Colas seems half a grade light on each. Seeing Burrowes so high among their DSL guys is surprising.
  12. I think Colas was frustrated with Sox telling him to hit the other way to start the year. He likes to turn and burn. That ball was a bomb.
  13. If baseball doesn't work out for him, please host a podcast called "The Claunch Angle."
  14. This seems like shade at the coaching staff as well as the players. I am not sure that Duncan is providing tons of analytical insight to our catchers.
  15. Cleveland ends the year with a 9 game homestand and holds the tiebreaker. Sox have to win and let the chips fall where they may. One reason for hope is that the teams in the East all have to play each other a lot. Sox can gain ground if they go on a streak. Sadly, that seems unlikely.
  16. Eh, to me Foster is just a guy. Every team has a lot of up and down righty reliever candidates. Lambert is a bullpen guy now. That is probably where Bilous ends up. Luke Schilling, Lane Ramsey, Caleb Freeman… even the Sox depleted system has some guys who might make it. It’s finding starters that’s hard. Thank God for Davis Martin. Now we need to get one or two others either through development or trade.
  17. Velasquez gone after the season. Foster is a bubble guy on the 40 man. Not much to choose from with either of them.
  18. Apparently Colas had one robbed last night.
