Arxy Hernandez with a BOMB. He has been swinging it this week. Don’t know if he’s really a prospect, but he is going a level a year, so he’s not not a prospect.
-
Not a great sign for Colson. If the Sox expected him up any time soon, they probably wouldn’t be acquiring a player in the same essential bucket — big left side defender with K issues.
-
Worth a shot, I guess. Lotta K’s. Walks some. Positional versatility. I think it’s probably low risk, low reward. In 3 years, he’ll be Maton, but churn, baby, churn.
-
Jerry had to give up his favorite player on the team: Cash Considerations.
-
I love both Quero and Baldwin. Vargas hit it pretty hard too. I am ready to move on from Vaughn and Robert and start getting players in who want to be here.
-
Amaya released when Meidroth heals. Same for Palacios with Tauchman. They seem to love that Maton hits lefty. I would dump him for Elko, but they don’t seem to feel that way. Montgomery and Teel struggling have given Maton an mlb job.
-
Corey Julks swinging it well in AAA. Probably better than some of their options in Chi.
-
Double for Colson. He looks better at the plate, but has been hitting into some tough luck. Still not there yet, tho
-
Elko is so good defensively at first. Great feet puts him in position to save a lot of errors over there.
-
Dunn is not an mlb option. It’s all off speed and fear of contact. 4 bb so far.
-
Glad to see Colson hit the ball hard to the opposite field even though it was an out. Key to his funk imho is more approach than swing.
-
Correction: Pallette faced 7 guys in 2IP. 1 single. Struck out the other six guys.
-
Birmingham wins the suspended game. Pallette strikes out the side in the ninth.

I would never defend Jerry, but during the .500 season under TLR, it became apparent the whole thing had to be blown up and scraped from the Earth. Top to bottom. That is with a crappy farm system. No amount of money would have fixed it. You can argue that hiring Getz was stupid, but from 2022 on, this franchise was doomed to something like a 8 year rebuild. The Sox arguably haven’t even started rebuilding yet. They are still in tear down mode as long as Vaughn and Robert are on the roster. So far, 3 guys have stepped forward to look cromulent — Smith, Quero, and Meidroth. They don’t have a core to add to, so even getting Soto and Burnes this offseason wouldn’t have made them competitive. Sadly, it’s gonna be a long and frustrating road.

The draft rules are backfiring when it comes to the Sox. Their incentive now is to tank twice as long because there’s no hope they are going to build quickly. Most of their viable offensive talent is in A ball, and this year’s draft is HS heavy. They won’t have any incentive to spend until like 2028.
-
Summerhill at 1-10 would be a ridiculous reach. College bats are down in this year’s draft. Strength is HS shortstops. That’s a demo that is traditionally pretty safe, too. I say they need to stay disciplined and draft best hitter available. Chances are that it’ll be a HS guy. Working out so far with Bonemer. One or two more guys like that added at 1-10 and 2-1 would go a long way.

I heard hints that his injury may be serious. Wishing him the best.
-
I think it’s worth trying. Burke not a great match up against that line up.
-
Interesting start by Schultz, 3bb 3 singles, 3 GIDP. The three singles averaged like 50 mph. Angels AA not good, but it looked like a side session for him. Like he has mostly been working on stuff.
-
2nd HR for Elko. Grand Slam for Gelanie. 5-5 with 10 TB
-
Antonacci 1-2 with 3 HBP. Kinda unique line.
-
Gelanie 4-4. I got to imagine he’s gonna be in Birmingham before long. Another R-R 1b, so a lot of pressure on the bat, but he can hit.
-
Don’t know if he’s done yet, but heck of a start for Oppor so far 5IP 2H 1R 1ER 1bb 8K. Lost some velocity on the fastball but then relied a lot on his slider. Overmatched A ball hitters.
-
Hard single on 0-2 for Bonemer 3 rbi so far for him. He’s probably a Top 100 guy pretty soon.
-
They are also super aggressive on balls in the dirt. They look like a Rays affiliate more than the Sox. Would be a pain to play against.
