  1. At some point, we have to understand that the roster is horrible AND Grifol is a terrible manager. He finished 20 below with a team that had been :500 the year before, and now is headed to the worst record in franchise history. Just because the person they bring in won’t win the division doesn’t mean you keep this guy.
  2. Charlotte, Birmingham, and Kanny all win. Both Birmingham and Kanny had big innings late to put games away. Stars included Tatum with aHR, 2b, 4 rbi. Both Baldwin and Gonzalez went 2-5. Arxy Hernandez went 3-5, HR, 3b. He is starting to hit as a 20 year-old in Lo A. Might be worth watching. Birmingham swept a 6 game road series.
  3. Cannon has given up only 1 hit through 5. Only 2 Ks, so he's having some batted ball luck, but still... good outing so far.
  4. Mogollon was pulled from a game last week. I think after a HBP.
  5. In the most recent Future Projections Carlos Collazo asked Ben Badler about him. A, it was clear Badler has not seen or even heard of his swing change, B, Badler said he is not under consideration for the Top 100. Interesting considering just how bad multiple guys in the top 100 have been, including Matt Shaw and Tommy Troy.
  6. Keener had a good start 5.2 2H 0R 0ER 3bb 9K. Sox have tremendous pitching depth. What a difference a couple of years makes.
  7. bb, defensive indifference, blooper. Iriarte gives up the first run of the game. Barons still lead 7-1.
  8. In ACL, 2 HR for Angelo Hernandez. That is 3 for him so far. He was a big money guy out of Venezuela, so he may be a name to watch. Grant Taylor has struck out 5 of the 10 men he has faced. Seems too polished for Lo A, but innings are the only thing that matters with him.
  9. Kanny up 11-0 so far in the 3rd.
  10. Wolkow out of the line up again for ACL Sox. I assume he is dinged up.
  11. Do you have a sense of who they're actually on? Speculation by the national guys seems to be "everyone." Sox system desperately needs upside bats, but I really do not want them drafting a 1b-only guy. I'd certainly rather see Wetherholt than Kurtz. The juiced ball/bat in college right now makes me somewhat skeptical of Montgomery and to some extent Caglianone (also he may not be able to play OF.) I am most intrigued by Rainer, but Sox may prefer someone who's closer in age to the group they have in AA.
  12. Eh. He was okay. Walked the lead off hitter. Induced a double play on a very hard hit ball to Gonzalez which Baldwin turned very well. Then a single and a groundout to Elko. Nothing impressive, but not horrible. The Barons are super solid defensively, so that helps all their pitchers.
  13. Barons have 8 hits and 2bb through 3, have scored only 2 runs. 6 LOB, 2 CS.
  14. Baseball's a weird game. Baldwin smoked one with the bases loaded for an out. Gonzalez bloop rbi single. Barons up 2-0.
  15. Gonzalez smoked a double to left then Baldwin got a bloop single, but they could not score. Baldwin at ss Gonzalez 2b tonight.
  16. I began protesting this season in February.
  17. Also he crushed A+ the second half of last year. And the bat is the biggest question. Smart, winning type player who can play 7 positions and has a little pop and can run a little bit. Probably never gonna be a star, but I am very bullish on him.
  18. Zavala 2-2, 2b, HR, bb. Pallette and Murphy combine for 9IP 3H 2r 2ER 5bb 13K. Dash win in extras 3-2.
  19. Chone Baldwin added a double. Playing 3b tonight. Currently hitting .360 with a .940 OPS.
  20. I would say so. Question is super sub or shot to be a regular.
  21. Robert ended 1-2 with a HR and a K. Like the power but the 50% K rate worries me.
  22. Some guy named Robert Jr. homered for ACL Sox
  23. Gonzalez and Baldwin both 2-3. That new pairing is off to a great start.
  24. McDaniel was an UDFA from U of Mississippi. College teammate of Calvin Harris, Elko, and Jacob Gonzalez.
  25. Fair enough. But Baldwin does lead the Southern League in batting, and OBP. He's third in OPS. And he has a very nice 19/25 bb/K ratio. There's nothing to indicate he's going to struggle as he goes up a level. Compare that to Elko and Veras whose bb/K ratios are 5/45 and 4/45 respectively.
