You are correct. By my count, the Sox currently have 27 men on the 26 man roster, 14 of them pitchers. So either Schweitzer or Trevor Richards would seem to be headed to Charlotte. If they want to bring Hays up, they're going to need to IL someone. Braden was scratched yesterday. Is he hurt?

This trade mystifies me. I get moving Adams. He was about to be a 40 man casualty anyway. I just don't understand why they'd want Doyle of all people. In Fuller We Trust, I guess?

Cozart was Cleveland's Boston Smith. So, there's value in the profile, but not a ton based on how they were both used in trades.

Man, that is a lot to give for a back up outfielder who will be hard to keep on the roster. They have to be moving Grichuk, Hays, and/or Pereira somewhere in addition. Otherwise, you just traded assets to DFA useful players.

Nimmala is such a hard player to figure out. He could flame out in AA OR he could be a star. We'll see if the Angels can fix their development program fast enough to help the kid. Clearly, the Jays prioritized keeping Parker ahead of Nimmala, which is exactly how I'd rank them. He's the guy I wanted at 10 last year, but the board wouldn't cooperate.

Roster crunches are what happens when you go from sucky to reasonably good. The Sox have been able to operate a revolving door of waiver claims for the last 3 years. Now, they're going to lose some marginal big leaguers as their roster gets harder to make. Guys like Drew Romo, Junior Perez, and some of the pitchers may get taken for nothing. That's the price of getting some better players. I am not worried. Hopefully, they'll be able to do what Tampa is often quite good at: Getting value for players who are 40 man casualties/out of options.

Plenty of guys to potentially DFA including Joe Rock, Tyler Davis, Tyler Gilbert, Duncan Davitt, Urquidy, plus I believe there will be a trade involving either Grichuk or Hays.

Good move. Gabe Davis may become something under the Mets very good pitching development program. He didn’t seem to be improving with the Sox. Franklin was buried despite good stuff.

I don’t know about other people. I see a really good athlete, with good swing decisions who has a lot of room to get stronger. If he does, there’s a lot of upside. People in the org compare him to Grady Sizemore. He was traded away and it was a mistake

Kanny came back to win 8-4. Fitzwater with his first HR 2-4 2R 2RBI. Holcomb 3-3, bb. Fauske with a big triple, his 9th of the season. To me, he's the untouchable on that team even ahead of Carlson.

Shelton continues his hot week. 2-3. Would be huge if he's gotten over the hump in AA.

Interesting that Peoples is the guy from this deal that got shipped out. Davitt is AAAA depth arm at best, but he has the weird angles that Bannister likes.

Pretty amazing how bad the starting pitching is in the Sox minor league system. Every day at every level it seems to be older NP guys. How much they baby everyone is not helping and it’s not preventing injuries.
