AL Cy Young
Go out there and throw a CG shutout on Sunday. Unfortunately some guys in the running's seasons still continue past that day.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) I'm willing to be patient and see what happens between the last pitch Sunday and Monday afternoon. Hopefully Robin won't be back. And the stuff about a new manager not making a difference shouldn't even be a topic. Robin Ventura should have never got the job, so it's just the right thing to do to end his time here, and move on. Something we should ALL agree on. Very lackluster announcement that day they announced him as manager

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:57 PM) Nightengale says Sox want to keep Ventura in 2017. Hayes says he has not been offered a contract. So not mutually exclusive. Exactly. Nightengale never said a contract was offered as Hayes has confirmed there hasn't been one offered.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) Are the players really attached to Robin Ventura or something? I don't think Sale is based on his comments after the incident. Guess I probably have to clarify: the jersey slashing incident.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) Even though I said this may be a nice way for robin to go out from sox, they could have easily done it without a press leak. Really dumb. Yeah literally zero point to do it this way.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:17 PM) I'm only not going to rage about this if they decide to sell this offseason and 2017 becomes a punt-year anyway. Then it doesn't matter WHO the sacrificial lamb is. I have high doubts about them selling.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
Literally no point to trying to paint it that way. The way of making it look like hes leaving on his own terms. HE'S NO LONGER UNDER CONTRACT AFTER THIS YEAR!!! YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THIS!!!

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
So what prospects are we expecting them to trade away for pieces to help next year? Any takers? We know they aren't going to spend monry to bring in a top bat so this is what it is.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
Considering Robin has already said he'd come if they wanted him to, Robin Ventura is your 2017 White Sox manager.

The problem is simple: it's home runs and .OPS
I have a feeling they move one of Sale/Quintana in a package of MLB/near MLB ready position players (along with an arm or 2), move a guy with an expiring contract for decent prospects (Melky/Frazier) and then sign cheap stop gaps/bounceback type players and claim they're trying to compete. In reality, it looks more like a rebuilding plan.

Poll: Are you still watching games?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 12:42 AM) I check the box scores and tonight actually watched the highlights, but no, I haven't been watching. I am really only watching Anderson's BA and his strikeouts vs. walks in the box scores. Very sad the Sox have sucked the last 3 years. April: like you super hyped. Also live and die every game. May: same as April. June: same as April. July: very sad but watching as much as I can. August: very sad, have given up, watch some. Sept: haven't watched at all. Extremely sad. Very sad winter is near as well. Could care less about Cub postseason. hope they lose. Those 2 sentences are literally the exact opposite lol

Jose Fernandez dead
This morning, a bag washed up on shore close to the accident with a bag full of Jose Fernandez signed baseballs. Auction those off and give proceeds to the family.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Won $110 in one league, finished 2nd out of 12 in the other one. Not too bad. Nice man. When you're older and have a job you can win $770 like I did lol

Jose Fernandez dead
Apparently the friends that also tragically passed with him were friends with more players on the Marlins as well and spent time on that boat. Can you imagine if this had happened the night before/early morning of a day off? Marlins and baseball world may be mourning more than just Fernandez today.

Jose Fernandez dead
QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 05:26 PM) Yes Sean Taylor is who comes to mind instantly for me. Other guy wasn't a superstar but was a starter in the majors would be Nick Adenhart. If memory serves coerectly, he died the same night he made his major league debut. So horrible to read about his passing the next day.

Yeah there was a lot going on yesterday. We lose not just the potentially great career of Jose Fernandez but also do not get to hear Vin Scully anymore.

Who Will Be The Next Manager of the White Sox
QUOTE (Coach @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) Why would Aaron Rowand be a good manager? Isn't he an outfield and base running coach? Don't you want someone with experience making game decisons and such? Not sure anyone is saying he would be good. Just predicting it'll be him based on this organization.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) Len Bias overdosed on cocaine 2 days after being selected 2nd overall in the 1986 draft. While that is tragic and sad, it doesn't quite compare to this. A young star whos been around a few years but still really young passing tragically in the prime of his career.

Poll: Are you still watching games?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) When they aren't going anywhere, I hit the doldrums in August, but once September hits, I get a second wind. No baseball for 6 months gets me excited to watch meaningless for the White Sox games. I usually go to about 15 games a year scattered throughout the season. This year, I've been to six. Last game was the game we hit 7 homers and lost (mid-end of June). May take in one more this week for the reason you gave. I'll miss the option of being able to go.
