  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) Even though he's pitching well as of late that contract is sickening. If he's movable you have to move him. The return may not be strong (2-3 low level prospects) but his contract is too heavy on a team that already seems to have 4 set starters for next year in Sale, Q, Rodon, and Fulmer (Yes, I believe Sale and Q will remain Sox and they will) The Shields contract isn't bad. At least for us it isn't since technically San Diego is paying for it.
  2. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 10:03 AM) Remember the Sox acquired him via trade from the Rangers, he wasn't released. If he were out of options the Rangers wouldn't have been able to send him down earlier this year nor would the Sox when they traded for him. I think he was on waivers though when we traded for him. I think it's similar when players are claimed on waivers and able to go to the minors with the new team.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 10:01 AM) I am not 100% sure, but I don't think this is the case. I think you are correct.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Nothing pertaining to Gonzalez specifically. That was just my line of thinking all things considered. Sorry. I didn't mean him specifically but just any news I suppose.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) They could find themselves within 5 games or so and make the dumb decision to buy or keep things the same and it would be a mistake. I agree.
  6. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:37 AM) Rabbit heard anything in the last day or so? what are the chances you think sale or Q is moved by sunday? By Monday. We have that extra day this year.
  7. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:37 AM) Ranaudo will have to clear waivers to stay with the Sox. The timing of this lends credence to the idea that the Sox will move a SP. Notice how when they were in it, they called up Turner, who was less deserving. Once they fell apart, Ranaudo got his shot. Do you know something is on the horizon by chance?
  8. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) I was mostly joking. However, weekly records don't matter. What does matter is the number of games back. If the Sox go 5-2 and gain like 2 games in the division, you still sell. Reason being, you would have to go 5-2 for a long time to really get back into this and this team has shown they are incapable of playing at that kind of level. I know it doesn't matter but it will sway the Sox decision (see: 2015 season; granted we didn't have as much to sell. Granted I guess we had Samardizja, Robertson, Duke).
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:32 AM) I would rather take a chance on Gonzalez than Andrew Cashner if I was a team looking. Plus he has an extra year of conrol.
  10. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:05 PM) They'll never find a better trade target than Sale. I know so they should be open-minded to dealing Moncada. I guess they could always move him to third though (unless they dealt with us and kept Devers).
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:00 PM) The record of this week shouldn't indicate their deadline approach. The offers they are presented with and the viability of converting on trade targets should. Period. End of story. ( for me at least ) Well yeah the offers should. But you know this front office. They may buy into a winning streak and hold out. And then expectedly go like 5-10 after the deadline.
  12. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Nothing says f*** the Cubs like saying "we know we won the season series against you but we are still going to blow up the team" We don't really know that. They haven't committed to blowing it up. They're open minded and listening. That's all we know. What if they go 5-2 this week? They can easily change their mind and buy or stand pat.
  13. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) Ugh, giving away outs is bad policy. When your batter is hitting .200 it's not.
  14. Seeing as they have Bogaerts at short for a while and Pedroia locked up for the next 5 years at second, isn't this the type of deal you'd move Moncada in? To get a front of the rotation arm locked up for next 3+ years?
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) They damn well should. Edit: They'd be just a couple games over .500 - likely about 7 out of first and have at least 6 teams in front of them in the wild card. Add to that fact, they'd have about 20 something games against central division teams who they are playing at a ~.200 clip against. Sell, sell, and sell. I want them to as well but you never know with this front office.
  16. If Sox win 2 or 3 against the Cubs and then win 2/3 against the Twins, does anyone here think they will sell? I honestly don't think they trade away anyone.
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 06:46 PM) Silly RedSox fans... Lol
  18. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 06:11 PM) My 2 cents: I don't think Boston is going to give up what most here think it will take to get Sale. That being said, if they don't, dig in your heels. Don't take a lesser offer when you don't have to. Exactly. The only 2 scenarios are they deal one or the other for a haul (s) or we keep both and try to reload this offseason.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 05:27 PM) Including both of those in a deal for Quintana seems like high. I can see one of them. We'll see how the market plays out. If we don't get one of the young guys on their mlb roster back, we need Moncada and Benintendi back in my opinion.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 04:29 PM) Ask and you shall receive. Where are you seeing this? I was listening to the score at work and I forgot who reported it but it was mentioned.
  21. Ranaudo IS getting the start Wednesday now.
  22. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) I really hope this post does mean that Reisndorf put his foot down and wont let Rick sell at the deadline.. Scares me.. whitesoxdave ‏@barstoolWSD 1h1 hour ago Chicago, IL Up yours Reinsdorf! 1 retweet 21 likes Reply Retweet 1 Like 21 More We ever figure out what this means?
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) I don't like Hahn for personal reasons that go all the way back to how he treated people at Harvard Law...but mostly because he has done a pretty lousy job. I don't think Ventura is the best manager for the future of this organization. I have never underrated Sale or Q. The Q package would include Robertson and return Moncada, Benitendi, Kopech, Eduardo Rodriguez and Rusney Castillo with huge cash susidy for remaining dollars on that deal. What?
  24. I hope the Yankees get involved just to drive the Red Sox price up more.
  25. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) You are the ultimate downer on this board and I think it's pretty clear at this point you don't like the White Sox. I understand not liking the Sox organization, but your constant underrating of Sox players and love fest towards other teams or players is laughable at best and old schtick at worst. Chris Sale is a HoF pitcher. The Sox aren't taking Pablo f***ing Sandoval back in a deal. Um....he was answering the question of "who do the Red Sox have at third?"
