Any teams need catching help and have a reliever (even with one year of control/left on their contract) to spare? A straight one for one deal would make sense.
I would be willing to *if* he is willing to give the Sox more years of control. Obviously not for record breaking money. But if they could get two or three years of control (team options) signing an extension now rather than the extra one Robert got, I'd probably gamble on it.
They're not going to have 5 guys on the roster who only play 1 position (1B/C). Collins should be playing every day.
Ideally, they'll have McCann (C ), Leury (IF/OF), a defensive first OF and a platoon OF bat for Mazara or another infielder.
I would think Puig could do better than as a platoon bat. If he were willing though, I'd take him as a platoon bat/fallback option to Mazara if he struggles.
It wouldn't hurt to have a potential platoon bat on the bench just in case. Luckily, they have Leury who has done a pretty good job against lefties in his career.
