I was thinking about it the other day and 3 of the most exciting players on the team are each of the biggest pieces in those trades: Giolito, Moncada, and Eloy. Edit: that's not to say guys like Cease and Kopech aren't big.
-
I would have to think Machado would be hitting better on our team (ballpark alone would make a difference). Not that he's doing bad anymore (average up to .278, .354 OBP, 16 homers and OPSing at .847). That production would be amazing compared to Yolmer.
-
Hopefully the rotation is one of Cole/Bumgarner, Giolito, Cease, Kopech, and Lopez or a cheap signing or trade (someone like Mike Leake?) for the 5th spot.
-
Watching this rotation makes me yearn for James Shields.
-
3 years ago, we would have been saying: "Who?" to a lot of those names.
-
Yeah looking at the OF's available in free agency and assuming they want to go the stop-gap route, I'd want Calhoun (doubt his option gets picked up) or Puig. Calhoun can play RF and has some left-handed pop. Wouldn't be opposed to him hitting say in the 7-spot to open the year (would have to adjust as guys get promoted throughout the year).

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Bob Sacamano replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
One year with the understanding he is the DH. Also, get him out of the 3-spot. Want him 4th behind Eloy or 5th (depending on what they do in the off-season or how they structure the lineup when Robert and Madrigal are up)? That would be fine too. -
Yeah I would bet on it being picked up. They need his innings, even if he's a back-end starter.

Every accounting/finance job I've had so far was really flexible. Last job I had, my department's boss was so cool. Some people came in at 6:30 every day to leave at 3. Some were not morning people and came in at 10 and worked until 6:30/7. They didn't care when you came in as long as you were there 8.5 hours (including the hour lunch break) and got your work done.

At least this year the negativity is warranted. Unlike the last 3-4 years you've posted negatively about him. -
I'd prefer Shields to Nova, Santana, Despaigne.

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
Bob Sacamano replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Collins gets a good chunk of at bats at DH going forward (after this year), probably go with a defensive-first catcher as the primary back-up with Collins getting occasional starts. Or go with a versatile catcher (rare, I know) who can at least add depth to the bench (where are those Swihart fans at?). -
It's not every day teams puts it's only 2 catchers in the starting lineup every day so Alonso playing is expected. Can't really blame Ricky for using the players on the roster. If you want to blame Hahn on the other hand...

Possible long-term SP trade targets for 2019 TDL?
Bob Sacamano replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What would it take to get Mike Leake? Interesting option for the back end and signed for a couple more years. Mariners seem more interested in shedding salary. I think he has a no-trade clause though. -
RF options are bleak...any other ideas?
Bob Sacamano replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah that option is for $14 mill. And they have Goodwin who can get at bats until Adell is ready. I wouldn't mind Kalhoun for RF and hitting towards the end of the lineup (7 or 8). -
Yep.
-
Also, feel free to move this to the minor league section. Probably where it belongs.
-
Lol my reaction when I came across it.
-
Minor league deal. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/06/white-sox-sign-jacob-scavuzzo.html They just signed him and I already want him in RF. That's how the RF situation has been this year.

Thanks! And I did find out they have a temp coming in to take over her current responsibilities. While she's on leave, she will probably log in at month-end next month I would imagine to cover the stuff that I took over from her. I'm not going to worry about it though. Gotta worry about myself and do what's best for me.

If I go out and get food on my break and I'm meeting up with friends, it's usually something quick (like your Subway example) except we sit and talk for a while. Don't really have the time to go to a nicer place and be served unless my boss is out of the office and I know I can get away with it.

Cease Struggling in AAA Recently
Bob Sacamano replied to Saladino'sMustache's topic in FutureSox Board
Yeah they're definitely running out of guys they can start. Injuries, the rotation having Despaigne, no one else pitching that well at Triple-A (hell, get Detwiler up here too). I also almost suggested picking up Smyly and Straily until I looked at their numbers. -
Couple of starters (Smyly, Straily) were DFA'd over the last couple of days where I thought "hey, Sox should take a gamble on these guys since their rotation is non-existent" until I looked at their numbers.
-
Haha and hell, a team in Nashville could even be Central Division.
-
Yep. And then put an expansion team in Portland and somewhere else. Preferably somewhere West to balance it out more.
