Brewers Acquire Christian Yelich & sign Lorenzo Cain
Bob Sacamano replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hopefully they deal their OF surplus for pitching, sign Darvish, and maybe bring back Lucroy. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 26, 2018 -> 08:15 AM) It's complicated so I'll try to explain. Large market teams that offered QO now get a pick after the 2nd round. So the Cubs will get 2 picks after the 2nd round for Arrieta and Davis. Those 6 teams that I listed after the 1st round are all considered small market teams that receives revenue sharing. Those teams still get a pick after round 1 for losing a free agent that offer a QO to. Revenue sharing recipients lose their 3rd highest pick to sign a QO FA. Big market revenue providers (Sox lumped in here) forfeit their 2nd choice to sign a FA. Teams that are over the luxury tax line (SF, Washington, Boston, LAD) would forfeit their 2nd and 5th rounder to sign a QO FA. Does this help? This could also be a reason as to why they would rather have Darvish instead of Arrieta. Recover at least something by letthing him walk and not having to give up anything to sign Darvish as opposed to Cobb and Lynn.

QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jan 25, 2018 -> 05:17 PM) I think I won't make it to 3K for the month. What an awful month of January. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jan 26, 2018 -> 08:14 AM) +$2905.18 Getting there! But seriously that's a nice extra chunk of change to start the year.

Do we see a deal for Archer for Santana and Broxton and a pitching prospect or two coming soon? (Yes, I get that Archer also has 4 years, but the Rays are a team that usually retools on the fly and 4 years of a guy like Santana can be valuable to them, especially with other pieces coming over). -

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 26, 2018 -> 01:56 AM) Speaking of Santana, I had no idea he hit 30 HR last year. The dude hit a ton of opposite field HR last year, and DEEP opposite, and pole-hugging even. According to statcast, he hit 10 HR to dead RF. He hit another 4 to RCF. And then another 2 just to the right of dead CF. So technically, he hit 16 of his 30 HR oppo last year. Yep. He was a great add in fantasy. -

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 25, 2018 -> 07:08 PM) He might it he rides the bench. I can't see why the Brewers would play him with the OF they have now. They could try to flip him to another team, but that contract is an albatross. There were rumors before of him moving to 1B. And besides him and Cain, who's really getting paid? They should be able to squeeze in someone else. -

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 25, 2018 -> 06:50 PM) I bet they have/find a taker for Braun. Free up $$$ for Arrieta. I doubt Braun would waive his NTC now. There's no incentive for him to. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jan 25, 2018 -> 06:29 PM) And now they get Cain. I bet they sign Darvish or Arrieta as well Trade Santana for pitching? Move Braun to 1B? That would make Thames a bench bat, backup 1B/corner OF, DH at AL parks. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 25, 2018 -> 05:34 PM) Said no one ever? It was floated out with more pieces of course. -
This kinda stuff just doesn't do it for me, personally. Never really into conventions and don't really care about getting autographs. I used to go with my brother, cousins, dad and uncles every year when we were little though.

As Jimmy Kimmel pointed out in his one monologue after the Vegas shooting, Democrats and Republicans both vote against stricter gun laws. Feel that needs to be said here before people start pointing fingers at one side (although, not having read through the last few pages, it's possible it's already happened).

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 24, 2018 -> 04:24 PM) More filler for Charlotte. Roach is an odd choice. Guy didn't exactly do that great in the KBO last year. "Darn!" -fans of MLB The Show OSFM rosters.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 24, 2018 -> 08:39 AM) After a third failed drug test, you deserve what you get. Yeah whether it is dumb or not (it is), if you fail 3 times it's kind of on you haha

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jan 24, 2018 -> 08:37 AM) Apparently, sons of former MLB players that are named after said player themselves become very good baseball players. At least that's what Guerrero Jr. and Tatis Jr. seem to be showing. Not yet. But we'll see in a few years.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 06:46 PM) Is this for pot? If so, this is so stupid. Apparently yes it is. And I agree.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 06:01 PM) Related to the mystery Sox Brewers trade talk? They either couldn't reach a deal with Hahn or it could be a three way deal. They meaning who? I feel like Sox talking with Brewers is being way overblown here. -
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 10:24 AM) A - Swarzak B - He definitely does not C - Scahill will sit in the minors for the majority of the year and be depth for the White Sox. He'll probably be up 1-2 months all year and give you 15-20 innings total. D - I went to high school with him and played with him - he's not capable of being a guy who is flipped for any type of prospect 5 months from now. Youre talking about a guy who walked 4 per 9 and struck out 4 per 9. What's the relevance in this comment when talking about how he is now or if he can toss a career year?

2017-2018 MLB player movement rumors and reports
Bob Sacamano replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 10:23 AM) For $6 million. Total. That's nothing and IMO bascially negates the fact that's a two year deal. Yeah I was going to say he'll be fine on their bench once Duggar comes up. I still think it's possible he ends up platooning to start the year anyway. -
Will winning so many World Series eventually get lame?
Bob Sacamano replied to Jerksticks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's only lame for the fans of the teams that aren't winning. -

Austin Jackson signed with the Giants. Could still see them grab Dyson and platoon the 2 with the other coming off the bench for Pence late in games to pinch run and for defense. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 12:38 PM) Two guys invited last year, but not this year- Courtney Hawkins and Spencer Adams. Adams not invited is interesting. I've honestly forgotten about this guy.
-
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 11:54 AM) Are Burr and Viera invited? Vieira is on the roster so yes. Burr isn't on the 40 and not listed on this list so probably not.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 10:40 AM) Was hoping to see Stephens or Guerrero grab the 5th spot until Rodon is healthy, but with the Gonzalez signing, I don't think we'll see that. Unless they want to send Fulmer back to AAA. Yeah it's possible. He should have to compete for the spot. Whoever pitches better in spring, bring them North.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 09:53 AM) I think he should just wait until he has the actual teams and players. You can't really single him out. All reporters should wait then.
