  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 08:48 AM) I guess maybe the Giants would give him league minimum and a real shot to start? Easily. And I would expect others to be interested as well. He isn't a bad player. Just way overpaid.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 08:35 AM) If he was playing for a contract, maybe I could buy that -- but he's locked up through 2021 on what is obviously the biggest contract of his career. I would think he's likely more interested in championships than an extra 200 ABs, especially because it isn't like he has an insignificant role with the Yankees. He's won already in his career so no much pressure to win before retiring. He's getting paid either way and may want playing time or a chance at another winner (granted, he could go to a team expected to contend anyway).
  3. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 01:13 AM) My random speculation is a prospect swap of Brinson for Hansen + Fulmer. Or maybe Cease, Fulmer, and Mendick, or some variation of us getting Brinson in exchange for pitching prospects. I'd be interested in something like that. But you don't really see those types a moves.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 08:21 PM) Highly doubt they would need to trade Brinson just to dump salary. Whatever our part in this I’m going to guess it’s a lot less sexy and minor. And FWIW is take a flyer on Broxton. His 2016 was good. Rather give his power a try then whatever Tilson would be. Entirely possible we have zero involvement. We were in discussions but who knows the final outcome.
  5. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 08:52 PM) Ellsbury would never waive his clause with a demand to be released with the way the market has been this offseason. He's be lucky to field anything other than a ST invite. A team would easily offer him an MLB deal at league minimum.
  6. QUOTE (frogsplash31 @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 07:55 PM) Can't see Ellsbury waiving his no trade clause. If he wants to play every day he will.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 06:51 PM) Domingo Santana would be great, he had a great season last year and is controlled through 2022. We'd have to be trading some of arms for that to happen.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 05:56 PM) And that's what they have, no? Braun/Brinson/Santana with Phillips as well, as they do need 4. Well the high upside kids you probably just have every day at bats in the minors with someone else brough into be a bench player. But they don't need another starting OF (unless they deal one for pitching).
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 05:41 PM) Avi. They really don't have a glut of outfielders like their fans claim. All I see are Braun, Brinson, Santana, Phillips, and Broxton (who isn't really an MLB caliber OF). If 4 outfielders is a glut, then I guess every team has a glut. I could see something involving Avi with us taking Phillips back, or perhaps even taking Braun's contract off their hands for additional prospects. Those first few sentences seem to contradict each other. You name 3 starting OF and a couple recent/current top prospects and that's not considered a glut? A team only needs 3 starters and a backup.
  10. Yeah the Brewers don't need any more OF.
  11. I don't want them dealing anyone yet. Could always deal next off-season after securing a big free agent to add to the mix. May not be Yelich but someone else can be available.
  12. QUOTE (35thstreetswarm @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 03:41 PM) Another risk that comes with the sleeveless is that fans buy them, too. Ever sit next to a fat guy in the sleeveless jersey with his pit-hair blazing on a hot August day in the early 2000s ? Not pretty Uh people don't wear sleeveless shirts already at games?
  13. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 12:58 PM) As a player...sleeveless are incredibly comfortable too (besides looking great). This. Loved wearing sleeveless on the team I played on.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 03:04 PM) I found it: My apologies, he clearly didn't say the opposite. At the same time, I feel like this was more directed towards the Gonzalez Germen type of moves, but it's anyone's guess. Yeah sounds more like dumpster diving type moves.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 11:39 AM) I miss John Rooney He was awesome.
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 18, 2018 -> 12:34 PM) Someone somewhere linked a nice Yahoo article about this. 30% of the league is not even trying to win. Looks at last year's standings. You have a few powerhouses, a bunch of rebuilding teams, and then teams like the Pirates who are "trying" to win but never willing to spend money and prospects.
  17. They'll probably platoon like they did last year with the other coming in as a late inning replacement for Delmonico. Of course, this discussion is moot if Tilson can stay healthy (ok, I couldn't say that with a straight face ). IF Tilson is healthy and there are no further moves: C: Castillo 1B: Abreu 2B: Moncada 3B: Sanchez (can spot start at 2B) SS: Anderson LF: Delmonico CF: Tilson RF: A. Garcia DH: Davidson (some starts at 1B and 3B as well) Bench C Narvaez IF/OF Garcia OF Engel With this set up, they can go with an 8th reliever or carry another bench player (Saladino maybe).
  18. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 17, 2018 -> 03:46 PM) #ImWithEngel #engelintheoutfield
  19. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Jan 17, 2018 -> 11:02 AM) In order: 1. MacKenzie Gore, Padres 2. A.J. Puk, Athletics 3. Justus Sheffield, Yankees 4. Luiz Gohara, Braves 5. Brendan McKay, Rays 6. Adrian Morejon, Padres 7. Kolby Allard, Braves 8. Jesus Luzardo, Athletics 9. Stephen Gonsalves, Twins 10. Max Fried, Braves It hurts my insides that I BELIEVE we could have gotten Luzardo + for Robertson... I will still be sad about this.. Luzardo>Rutherford. lol Well, I guess you believe wrong considering it didn't happen.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2018 -> 10:43 AM) I would actually like to see him used a little less next year. After Leury went out, he started pretty much every single game no matter what the match up was. I'd like to see him brought along a little slower with plugging him into places where he has a better chance to succeed being used as the primary technique instead of an every single day starter. Let him grow in situations where the odds are more in his favor, and utilized Leury in match ups as well. Charlie Tilson is also going to be a factor here assuming he doesn't get ran over in the parking lot on opening day. Ryan Cordell has also played a bit of CF It doesn't really take that much to keep him out.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 17, 2018 -> 09:18 AM) His best chance of getting out of there is to shut up, and play really well so some team will meet the Marlins price . Pouting and playing the game he is playing is doing no one any good. There is zero chance the Marlins dump him for a discounted package right now. Agreed 100%. Also don't think it really hurts his value when over 10 teams have interest. If it were only a few, then sure.
  22. Man you love gambling lol what do you make, about a thousand bets a year?
  23. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 17, 2018 -> 01:27 AM) I don't know that I remember Konerko, but I want to say the first time they did this it was like 5 or 6 guys, and I want to say it was like Viciedo and Josh Fields from the major league team. Think Pualie was there last year or two years ago.
