  1. While I was a fan of Peter, he didn't really have a spot on this team. Could see him becoming a solid ballplayer though (especially if he can play every position).
  2. I would say about the same honestly. Bullpen is a mess (they're going to blow a lot of nice games pitched by our starters), some of the young guys will struggle.
  3. If he were a free agent next off-season, he'd make more sense.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 06:59 PM) That’s fine, but then really don’t have a direction. Being a bottom third team with a bottom third farm is usually a recipe for disaster. Hes under control for 5 more years. They can wait. Many people on here had said to wait on guys like Eaton and Q if we had to.
  5. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 09:07 PM) How much money did the Sox get? $1m from KC and 3m from LA.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 08:03 PM) So what does the bullpen look like now? CL: Soria SU: Jones SU: Avilan MR: Farquhar MR: Bummer MR: Minaya/Infante/Vieira LR: Covey/? Could be 8 deep like last year.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 06:45 PM) Soria is a horrific baseball pitcher, but he won't be with the Sox when they contend so no biggie. It will be annoying to see him pitch next season, however, on the South Side. Royals fans are dancing in the streets getting rid of Soria. Want to bet the house?
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 06:15 PM) Joakim Soria is also going to the White Sox in the three-team deal. https://twitter.com/rustindodd/status/949071497896890368 Give him the keys to the closer role and hope he has a great year.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 06:12 PM) So basically a deal to get a solid lefty reliever There could still be more.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 04:06 PM) Yelich is arguably better than Adam Eaton and is signed to an even friendlier deal than him. Eaton netted Giolito, Lopez, and Dunning. What do you think Yelich is going to cost? Also younger than Eaton when he was dealt.
  11. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 04:00 PM) "The final package could look like this: Giolito (or Anderson), Cease, Rutherford and Collins." I would not be in favor of surrendering that much talent, even though Yelich is very good. I do not think the Marlins asking price would be nearly that high, and guys like Rutherford/Collins still have enough stock to warrant being much better than 3rd and 4th pieces in a deal like that. Even taking a pessimistic view of those players would result in us dealing 6+ seasons of a #3/4 starter, reliever in Cease, 4th outfielder in Rutherford and a C/1B prospect with on base skills and some pop. Why? This isn't a salary dump situation. The Marlins accomplished their goal of significantly slashing payroll by dealing Stanton and Ozuna. This a different scenario all together. And as I said above, 15 teams (reportedly) have some level of interest.
  12. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 03:01 PM) I’d do these 3 players: 1. Rodon (injury prone, Boras agent, will be an expensive risk to resign.) 2. Rutherford (5th or 6th OFer for us if we got Yelich—Yelich, Jimenez, Avi, Robert, Delmonico?) 3. Basabe (further back in the OF mix than Rutherford—has a lot of developing to do and we don’t develop hitters well.) If this isn’t enough, either agree to take on a vet salary or say goodbye—no increasing the exiting prospect talent. With about 15 teams checking in on Yelich so far (saw a post yesterday or two days ago about that number), I would think that deal could be beat for sure. Not that I'm arguing I want them to make this move.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 02:45 PM) His argument is poor. The timing of Yelich does not feel right for the Sox. The comparison of Yelich to Rizzo isn't even good. The Cubs brought over Rizzo when his value was lowest. They rebuilt that dude's stance and swing and now he is what he is today. Yelich on the other hand is already established.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 01:50 PM) Moustakas to the Sox isn't even believable, how did so many people fall for it? But Machado for one year to the Sox in a trade for prospects was a real thing that also sounds even more unbelievable.
  15. Such a boring off-season overall so far. We should be in for a lot of fun this month.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 12:07 PM) Jon Morosi‏Verified account @jonmorosi 2h2 hours ago Source: #SFGiants and #Pirates have had recent Andrew McCutchen trade conversations. Story here: https://www.mlb.com/news/giants-seek-andrew-mccutchen-outfield-help/c-264252764 …://https://www.mlb.com/news/giants-see...p/c-264252764 …://https://www.mlb.com/news/giants-see...p/c-264252764 … @MLBNetwork @MLB If a deal came together, I would imagine a deal centered around Frazier and Cole would come together pretty quickly.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 12:02 PM) Maybe there's minimal interest because he's not a great ballplayer... How many teams need a 3B? Edit: make that "team expected to compete"
  18. I guess the thought would be that there is minimal interest right now and that a team could buy-low on him instead of competing with teams next off-season for bigger guns (Harper/Machado).
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 11:56 AM) Honestly, I think that would have been dumber. But it's fair competition. Yeah I don't see how this (signing Mous) would be dumber than trading Giolito for a one year rental lol
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 10:53 AM) Yikes. I call whenever my bill goes up and make changes. Sometimes cut some stuff out. Roku has an xfinity app so I got rid of the box in my room which was $10 a month. Cut HBO cuz I get it for free with my ATT cell. I pay $140 a months with Showtime/Starz and sports package (Red Zone and Tennis channels, etc). Internet is 100 mbps or whatever. May cut Showtime when Shameless ends. I currently have a Hulu account and what I am currently doing to watch Shameless is pay the extra monthly fee to get Showtime (watching some other stuff now as well to make it worth it). It's really easy to go back and forth on your account so once Shameless is over and my friends/family who currently watch the show on my account are done, I plan on getting rid of Showtime on my account (may potentially freeze my Hulu account for a month or two as well).
  21. QUOTE (Moncada @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 03:42 PM) Overview/Rules will be posted shortly, stay tuned You have someone listed twice on the first post.
  22. Looking at the free agent list now, it's amazing how many guys have not signed yet.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 03:01 PM) A second round pick and $500k of international money of which you can't go over $300k anyway? Please. At some point, you are going to have to add vets. Now may be the time to get him. I don't know. But if you think 2019 is the year the window can open, it's time to consider something like this, especially since the 3B market seems to be saturated and it could keep his cost down. The Sox could use some LH power. If it's 2020 you are shooting for, then holding off sounds reasonable. The price is key, and I would figure if it's a steep discount, he's going back to KC. This is what KC should be looking into instead of Hosmer. It may not be easy to find someone to replicate Hosmer's numbers at 1B from last year but that was a career year for him anyway.
  24. The Royals really should be rebuilding. Unless they think they can get bargains to replace the guys they are losing.
